Well - this day came way too soon! Luna 2018-2024, had to be put down this past Sunday around 8:00pm.

We picked this dog up from a shelter in late 2019 (rescue situation) and spent a ton of time and money rehabbing her into a part of our family.

Was just getting home from CAL Saturday night, picked her up from boarding, and had to rush her to emergency vet 6 hours later around 12:30a Sat night / Sun morning. Her stomach had turned over, emergency surgery, etc. Short version is she made is through the surgery, but ended up with other complications about 18 hours later.

Had a lot of stuff going wrong, and it just didn't seem fair to let her suffer anymore. She was a big part of our lives, and we are a bit of a mess over it. We don't have kids, so she was our third wheel, my wife's companion everyday while working in her office alone - and my sidekick when she would travel for work or in CAL for weeks at a time. This shit will tear you up inside! GodSpeed Luna..... you were the best....

Sorry to hear that. Never easy to lose a member of the family.

RIP Luna

Hey DILLI - where did you get this pup? From a breeder, or?.... This would be one we would have interest in.

Thanks for the kind wishes - the house is certainly more "empty" with your pup around.
A local lady who had a litter of 10 is where we got her. No fees at all and she is healthy as an OX and is just absolutely beautiful. Color, structure, personality, etc. Gets along great with our other two pups.

The ladies daughter had her brother that is light brown coloring and will probably be bigger than Xena. She lives in an apartment with a 1 and 3 year old child and felt the pup would be better in a house or property with a yard. So.....I put him up for adoption here and had a member in S CA step up. We had it all arranged to drive out to TX by another member and I would meet them. A day or two before this taking place the daughter changed her mind and the adoption was called off. Bummer

You want me to check with the lady and see if there are any left in the litter? I think they are all adopted out now though

Here was my thread on the adoption that got canceled out;

That's awesome, great dog. I think we might just be a little too far away in Ohio here. Thanks for the offer.

Great color on Xena, beautiful dog.

Day 2 with daughter’s pup over visiting. They don’t have much quit in them until they do😂. Got in a couple walks today, scrapped on the lawn for a while and they’re done.
Granddaughter came back. She absolutely loves the dogs. They handle anything she throws at them. Great temperament.

She has one, we have one because my wife liked hers when it was a pup. It almost didn’t make it past 3 months. The puppy stage is pretty insane. Best dog we’ve ever had.

Made it 2 years without a dog. Said no more. Wife gets anxiety and dogs help her, so I gave in. We recued Holly. She was found in a ditch and they think 3 months old. Stayed at a foster lady's house for 4 month and then to the shelter. We adopted her 2 days later. Do not know the bread. Wife will get her dna tested. She was 35lb when we got her 2 weeks ago. Now she is 43lb. She does have webbed feet, so there is some lab in there.

So today was just me and the wife for TG. I had some time to kill before we ate so I figured I'd take the pups to the park. We go to our usual spot and I let them run around on the baseball field. This park is up against the hills so there are lots of critters and we often find fur patches where a rabbit met their demise.

We are walking around and Tuco starts moving toward something on the grass ahead. He gets to it and immediately dives in and starts rolling and rubbing around on it. I yell at him to stop and dash over to get him out of it. I knew it was going to be bad because of how quick he started rolling in it. I had no idea how bad.

To my horror he was rolling in a gut pile which consisted of a rabbit's ripped open colon and pile of wet green almost-poo. He had it all over both sides and on his head and neck.

Now I'm faced with getting the dogs back to the car and home without destroying it. I scooped up some handfuls of baseball field dirt and put it on him in an attempt to dry some of it up. I ushered them back to the SUV and they jumped in back.

The smell was like nothing I have ever encountered. It was a smell of the ages. I'm driving home with all the windows down gagging and retching the entire way trying to formulate a game plan on how to deal with this.

The cleanup process was as miserable as you would expect. It also completely ruined any hint of an appetite. So much for that Thanksgiving dinner I had been looking forward to. I think I am going to suffer from PTSD as a result of this incident.

He loves to roll in smelly stuff. I guess I'll have to watch him like a hawk for now on. And avoid the coyote/rabbit kill zone.

That sucks for sure.

My old pup Roxy would do a real fast tuck and roll into duck shit whenever she got the chance.

Tuckered out already today. They play rough with the little one scrapping with my big pups all day long. He has no fear at all...little dog syndrome I think. Lol

Had my daughter, granddaughter and her dog over for 5 days before Thanksgiving. My pup is exhausted. 1 or 2 walks a day plus all day dog fight club. They do destroy my lawn though. Between chasing each other and non-stop pissing it takes a beating

He hasn’t bugged me once to go out today. 😂
