Are companies just moving out of state now? That way the truck is registered out of CA

Likely a large amount of them are. Just depends what kind of trucking they’re doing.

As an Arizona state registered truck you have to have CARB certification on your truck to enter CA to pick up a load. The Carb cert has to be added when you build the truck. Cannot be added after the fact even though the trucks engines & after treatments are the same. The engine manufacturers are being forced to develop CA Carb engines moving forward.

I’d bet that loophole will close at a certain point.

There is up to a 25k cost to carb cert a x15 Cummins performance series engine in 2024.

This will affect the cost of goods for the entire country. ships come into the port of los Angeles and the cargo goes out on trucks. A logistics company with a hub and warehouse in primm would probably do very well.
Companies will be forced to seek an alternative port likely. Mexico to Texas & Az is the most logical answer

So let’s say the company is based in OK (with OK trucks), rent a yard in AZ and pick up CA loads are you technically compliant?

OK & AZ trucks have to be carb certified to enter CA.

Best guess is there will be players moving freight from CA to state lines. AZ & NV then transfer at yards to distribute across the country.

You see the investment in the 303 loop and 202/60 here in phoenix preparing for the shift. Huge developments for trucking/logistics

Anyone have the stock ticker for KY?? Figure it might be a good time to grab some stock. The Epa and carb both need a good enema of liberal douches and put some people with some common sense back in there. Or just dismantle them in general.

This zero emissions law already has some CA companies who are paying attention in a tailspin. I have a client in Cypress with a coupe dozen trucks that will not be compliant when the law takes effect. They are looking now at what it will take to switch the fleet over to EV.... We will need to install a 4000A-480V service just to support all the chargers for their fleet. Their lease is coming up on there buildings and are trying to negotiate this into their new 10yr lease.

If I was a drug king pin down in Mexico, I would build the worlds largest shipping port along BAJA and have trucks run up through AZ. Heck, Id even work with AZ to fix & improve their roads. Maybe even improve rail lines.

Would not need to sell & smuggle drugs anymore.

Would put California out of business in a couple years.

Last spring you may remember Stinky Pinky (from street outlaws) couldn't pick up his car from the port in LA as their truck wasn't CARB certified. They shipped the car to Australia for some races and their truck was from Texas or Oklahoma? I don't remember, but they ended up getting someone to haul the trailer out of the yard and they picked it up on the street. Took a few days to get it together and was a huge headache.

No idea how this is supposed to work on a vocational truck. Dump trucks, PTO’s & what not.

How much dirt can you move when your payload gets ate up by your batteries.

What happens when a truck fire happens on the 10/5/405/91. And gets shut down for 3-5 days until it burns out.

Holy sheep shit!!

Where does this fit in as Barstow is still in CA. lol We are perpetually the guy riding a bike and putting a stick in his own front spokes meme.

edit: unless this is a strictly rail transfer facility and no loading to trucks. idk

I know nothing about this industry. But first thing that comes to mind is railroad stocks go up, and people start running multiple loads with smaller trucks and charge more (I'm assuming this law only affects the heavy duty trucks and not the smaller medium duty or whatnot?)

Also are there ports in WA or OR?

The state of Texas has invested millions in the last couple years upgrading its port infrastructure in addition to God knows how much private money. I believe Florida has been doing similar.

The only choke point right now is I read recently that the Panama Canal is coping with water shortages from the lake at the top to run the locks, some ships are paying as much as $4m to jump the line. Plus a good deal of the freighters that run China to CA exceed Panamax. But then there is also talks of ships possibly being rerouted to sail west from China and through the Suez to start making port on the eastern seaboard.

California is literally fucking up the global supply chain and they don't give 2 fucks. Shit..... they don't even give half a fuck. The .gov needs to revoke CARBs ability to exist.

Medium duty is even harder. Less production & multi fuel engine platforms. Think about every delivery truck in the state

Distribution is still going to exist. It’s going to get extremely expensive & complicated in CA.

I don’t think it’s doom and gloom the government is finally enforcing the rules that they imposed on us 10 years ago and I hope going to get rid of the cheaters that remove the smog equipment.
I don’t think we should have this smog requirement and I don’t think it really does any good but it should allow rates to rise to cover the cost of this equipment.
Currently we have many companies not in compliance and that makes their costs lower and keeps rates lower.
I think it will be good for my business i live and work hear and if there is a shortage of trucks great my rates go up and the 25k for the performance Cummins is not a problem if I can change enough.
Basically trucking in california will end up a government regulated monopoly and the cost of entry will keep the low ballers out

Definitely agree with the cost being a barrier to entry. Hard to say at this point if vocational trucks will have a different rule book at some point since the demands are so different for them. Makes perfect sense but…..

From what I understand, Californians don't mind taking it in the anus because they make a lot of money and the weather is great.

Wasn't China helping Mexico fund port development in Baja?

Isn't Newsom essentially a Chinese prostitute?

Just sayin'...
I was just going to write as a rich drug lord building and the worlds largest port, I would make good friends with China.

They could supply capitol, design, raw materials and even cheap labor to build the worlds biggest port.

I'd cut hair gel newsome out of the mix.

My cousin moved to near base of white tanks and we had to go down 303 and damn there’s a lot of big warehouses that look like setting up for logistics seems all major companies had a building. I see a lot driving to ca near Beaumont area too.

Read up on the new Diesel truck regulations starting 2024. Shit is about to hit the fan big time

What’s a CA 2024 compliant Truck cost OTD? I know there’s a lot of variables but say a Peterbuilt 389 or 589.

How can an unelected board of Fucking morons cause so much grief and financial hardship to so many in this state and nothing can be done about it. Almost sounds like the citizens of California need to have a tea party of our own. So much bullshit.
