How can an unelected board of Fucking morons cause so much grief and financial hardship to so many in this state and nothing can be done about it. Almost sounds like the citizens of California need to have a tea party of our own. So much bullshit.

Sorry. They already gave up on changing anything in the gas weedwhackers getting banned thread. 😂

Pick a different port, sure. But how much produce alone gets shipped out of CA.. this is nuts.
Without water (snow from the Rockies), California couldn't grow tumbleweeds.

More & more of our produce is already coming from Mexico

I believe the Colorado River, The Feather River, and The Owens are the three primary sources of water. The Owens Valley is a fascinating story.

If one of these sources is disrupted, it puts California in a tight spot with very little opportunity to backfill the resource quickly.

Imagine what a mess the state could become with no water. As much as people like to boast about how great the state is, much of it is desert and unable to sustain life without an abundance of water. Today's world is massively different than 100-150 years ago. I always wondered how cattlemen could raise a herd in the deserts of Arizona/Nevada until I learned that the ecosystem today is incredibly different. The native grass that used to feed those animals is mainly gone and will never return.

It simply boggles my mind that California does not redirect its focus on desalination and water security. It seems so fragile to me.

There are some outstanding books by Jared Diamond worth a read, Such as Collapse and Guns, Germs and Steel.

What’s a CA 2024 compliant Truck cost OTD? I know there’s a lot of variables but say a Peterbuilt 389 or 589.
Way too many variables to spitball price quote.

My trucks with the current specs with performance series Cummins should be close to 300 k
But I bet u can build 3 axel for 200 k it will look the same from the outside but won’t last doing the same job and it’s going to be slower if you do
Over time pay is more expensive than fuel or the penalty for buying big Horse Power

Nazifornia SUCKS! The democrapholes (all through the country) always running around saying that they are for the little man, the poor, the broke bla bla bla, and yet every chance they get they do something that will make the price go up on every single thing that is for sale. The two most important things that we have in America is our trucking and railroads to get product out to be distributed usually by another kind of diesel vehicle. It's INSANE how they want to choke out the life blood of America.
What just boggles my mind is that I have kind of close democraphole friends that are complaining about the price of "everything", and yet these "MORONS" keep voting the same fucking way. GTFO of America if you don't like it here!

260k ish with MX 13 & 8LL on a 567 chassis.

X15 just costs you more money, payload & fuel.

Californians will need to start drinking reclaimed pee water. Just like Vegas.

Oh sure you price his. 😁🤣😉
You were asking 389/589. HAHA!

Questions start with:
Sleeper or day cab?
Frame length?
X15? How much power?
Transmission?
Interior pkg level?
Heavy haul?
Aux trans?
5th wheel?
Slide?
Front axle?
Rear Tandems?
Lockers?
APU?
Disk brakes?
Exhaust?
Legendary Pkg?

There's a 25k variable between a 18 speed manual, automated manual and an Allison.

It's serious business haha! Mistakes cost as much as a house in the mid west.

260K ish! 😂 I spent 3 hours working on a spec today for a legendary 589 72 inch sleeper. Still sorting out the spec.
And 260k gets me how many years in CA?

This will likely have a major impact on the sportfishing industry in CA.
I recall a lot of chatter about that a few years ago, but haven't kept up. Here's the latest info I can find on it. It's seems there's been some extensions, in particular for commercial sports fishing boats.

Making a buck in Sportfishing is particularly difficult. Area closures, regulations, cost of operation/fuel etc , the economy and the general deminishing interest from the younger generations (similar to golf) all make it difficult. Repowering is not an affordable option for most.

Oh that's right. CARB on a performance series X15 is 25k over and above the 260k. Truck is good for 800k miles 10 years before CA will mandate retirement of the truck.
Not quite true my truck had catastrophic engine failure at 380k miles and costs close to 100k to get back on the road. The sister truck to mine at another company lost there motor at 280k miles

The new trucks don't go as far as they used to before a rebuild. My old KW with a C15 was still strong at 500k miles when we were forced to sell it because of carb

I was referring to California regulations on next years trucks. They have to be cycled out at 800k miles/10 years. Per Carb.

If there is a god he will break California off at the San Andreas and let it fall into the fuckin ocean. 🤣 🤣 🤣
Works for me as Arrowhead is on the AZ side of the fault. Though I have to work on the CA side so I’ll hope that happens while I’m home.

This will affect the cost of goods for the entire country. ships come into the port of los Angeles and the cargo goes out on trucks. A logistics company with a hub and warehouse in primm would probably do very well.
I heard that terribles sold a ton of their land and the land that the closed casinos are on in Jean Nevada and it’s nothing but distribution warehouses going in.

That’s insane with a shitty Paccar engine 😳

All this shit is the reason why I pulled the trigger on a brand new truck now instead of buying a used truck to add to what I got. It is going to put so many companies out of business because for general freight they don’t make the money a specialized trucking industry does. I don’t know how those guys will make it.

I’m sure the new CARB requirements won’t add additional costs or supply chain issues for the residents of the Golden State.
I’m not worried about it. Gonna be an adult and find a reasonable solution.
And all that shit from China that has to cross the state to get to free America, wont be affected either right?

Is China accepting American emigrants ? If so there's a solution, one I could only hope a few American bashing RDPers would choose. 🥴

Does China use the same shit they send us or are they just filling our country full of junk ? Seems one out of every three things I take out of the box are junk. New parts out of the box that don't work. Oh, and yes Cali can go suck a moose cock.

I've scrolled by this thread title a few times in the past few days now, and have decided that "Prepare your Anus" has officially replaced "hold on to your hat" in my personal use phrase library.

Although, as I sit and think about using this phrase in real time, there may be some context issues to consider based on the conversation.

I sold the last of my older trucks. Now my oldest truck is a 2020 and I have two of them and am planning on selling them and replacing them with two 2024 units. For me it works since all of my east coast boat transporters with older trucks can not come to calif and the shipper has to use someone like me with newer equiptment. Back east they all brag about running deleted trucks. mine are all bone stock

Man, a huge disruption for what? 2% reduction in pollutants? What kind of pollution footprint does one of these huge distribution centers have to build? How about twenty of them?

That's the biggest problem with CARB and AQMD it doesn't have to make sense just throw a number at the wall and see if it sticks!

If I was a drug king pin down in Mexico, I would build the worlds largest shipping port along BAJA and have trucks run up through AZ. Heck, Id even work with AZ to fix & improve their roads. Maybe even improve rail lines.

Would not need to sell & smuggle drugs anymore.

Would put California out of business in a couple years.
Pretty good idea. The Gulf of Mexico is like a lake. They could build shipyards down there for nothing and transport up into Arizona.

I wonder what the CARB meetings are like.

Do they sit around and just try to think up ways to destroy businesses and make everything cost more for Californians?
I've sat in them many times , unbelievable bullshit based in "science" , who's science I'm not sure ! its also hard to not fall asleep.

Me too. Crazy. In the nicest possible.way you have to tell them their "science " isn't correct. We had to bring our engineers over here from our factory 3 times and do 3rd party studies. Cost us well north of $100K. Turns out we were right on our emissions numbers.

I remember when my uncle started his trucking business in early 80s with a freight liner cabover and a 4-5 ft sleeper and a flatbed trailer.if he needed. Enclosed trailer he rented one from budd I had great
Memories going with him on a couple runs up the coast.

Another uncles friend drove a truck about same time I got to tag along as a kid for day run we’re going along salton sea he just say get over here he gets out of seat tells me get in I was like 13 at time I got to drive a conventional Pete for about 25 miles down the 86 to brawley I said how do I keep this in lane he just told me look at left front corner of nose and the center line. I did good

Now at 50 and semi retired I still have a thing about driving a truck and have the opportunity from an uncle just haven’t got there yet lol

That’s cool.

My little boys are always with me and I can’t tell you how many people tell me “ my best memories were trucking with my dad”

Everyone on all the job sites knows my boys 🤣 I’d say 3 days a week I have one or the other 🙌
