Man this hurts as bad as the last time! :(. That said I made it!

If I can get the pain under control we can bust out of this joint.. as it stands though I’m grabbing the hand rails of the bed every now and again.. and the rest of the time just kinda staring at the ceiling
Hope you feel better fast!

Unfortunately.. :(.

I don’t think it’s gonna take that long, but that’s the prediction for 100%.

That said I’ll be in boats and having fun again before a 100%.

While I canceled most of my trips for the summer (LOTO shootout, powell challenge etc). I do plan on being in Key West this year, and I plan on doing an epic run with Bullhead bully if I’m up to it!

At least you have some trips to look forward too. Those x rays of your foot are pretty crazy. You’ve been through allot but at least the healing process can start. Hang in there RD.

I'll have to dig out the photos of my x-rays. Have similar hardware in my arm. Took 18 months & multiple surgeries to fix. Recovery blows, no way around it but as many have said, it's a tight balance of keeping pain under control without overdoing the meds. Gets better every day. Then PT brings an entirely new level of enjoyment so you have that to look forward to...all part of the process.

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Pop a CBD suppository or 2 and let us know how it works lol

There is a very long road ahead of you Dave, but the worst is behind you. The trend will get better from here on out. You will have bad days and possibly bad weeks but overall it will get better. Take the PT seriously, if you don't you will never walk or move right again. Kind of one of those pay now or pay a lot later things.

I can also stress the required PT. Just a simple skin graft on my index finger caused significant issues with the finger years later. I avoided stretching and moving the finger during recovery (out of fear). To this day, my right index finger has limited range of motion.

That's so he can easily refill the cans after he drinks them. For the next day of course.

Holy fuck...

:(:(:(

Yes.. hurts like fuck!

Physical therapy just came by. We want to go home. So I asked her “how far do I have to go before you will discharge me.”

She said 40’. I went 40’ then she made it 80.. so I did the other 40.

I’m back in bed now realizing that was a mistake. Knee is numb and my foot is anything but.. fucking hurts!!

They are working in discharge, so we will be out of here in a few hours..

I just had an interesting discovery that might lead me to believe that was a bad idea.

I touched my knee and it’s numb. I touched other areas below knee cap above the splint and they are all numb.

The nerve blocking agent from the surgery hasn’t worn off yet.. so in an essence my leg is still numb as bad as it hurts right now. When they fucker wears off it’s really ginna hurt. Lol

Kinda wishing I didn’t start the discharge process now. Stacy is ready to roll though and wants to go back to Cridtens and Billdos so that’s what we are doing. Planning on super early departure to make the run to Havasu. Tomorrow am

They drilled a hole in the back of my leg when I had mine down, Injected a tube for the nerve block and carried a bag which I called a ball of dope (Round ball in a fanny pack) lasted for a good week.. I'm surprised you are being discharged without a nerve block going home with you

Dave, you must go through with PT if you want to regain full motion of your ankle, there's no easy way out. You'll find the first sessions, standing against a wall trying to bend your knee forward to articulate your ankle how difficult it will be.
Don't get it why a nurse would ask you to walk 80' less than a day after surgery, unless , she wanted you to realize to slow the fuck down and start the healing process properly with expert PT guidance. I think you better start searching for a good physio therapist in Havi right now.;)

I’m all about PT.. I will get a good one in Havasu and be running laps in the garage in no time.

On a side note I am going to start working out a little while I am recovering so I don’t get weak just laying around the house.

I have lost a ton of weight since this happened. I weighed 223-226’ish when it happened. I weight about 208-209 right now.

Ask the PT if she has had surgery. If answer no,these theripists have no idea what you are going thru today. Also, beware you might be advised to purchase ice wrap crap,a $400 rip off
You have handled this situation in record time, set your time frame for what is personnaly working for you.Well Done, all of you.

Getting home and getting to your comfort zone is going to make a world of differences. Firm believer in ICE, ICE, ICE ever couple hours. I don’t know if they want or allow that but playing college football that got me right better then any meds.

You will see your kids and all the pain will end up going away. I am like you I would want out of the hospital and in my own bed ASAP.

RD pace yourself.... this is a marathon not a sprint and you don't want to do it over again. Best of luck RD. Stay strong.

Yea, the 80' was probably a bad idea. When all that nerve block wears off, life is going to suck.

I suggest you look to see if anyone has an HBOT in Havasu. It will help in healing. If I were you, along with PT I'd be hitting the chamber three or four times a week.

Praying for a smooth recovery for you Dave.

I have never had an injury like this, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, so I just have one piece of advice......

Take it easy!!

I know you and I know you are going to do whatever it takes to get back into the swing of things, but rushing to get on the water or do things like you did before, seems like it could be a recipe for disaster. I dont want to see you try to power through this and have any set backs.

I have the same thing. Was in a full leg cast for a year! I was young, and noone ever offered PT. Fast forward 26 years later, i favor my good leg now, which jacks my back up. Now I have bad lower back and major sciatica. I never even assumed it was from my injury until a PT told me a few months ago.

Pretty much deja vu. My surgeon said I was young and would bounce back despite not walking without a boot for 12 months.

Get into cycling if you can. A road bike is the only thing that seems to get my core/hips back where they need to be.

Yea i was on crutches for most of my time. My doctor was military because I had base benefits from my Dad. So wasnt much help.

Just had my first MRI a month ago on my back. S1-L5 (i think thats right?!) moderate to severe degradation. Im 45 years old and only see this getting worse down the road. Good luck to you also brotha.

I'm not gonna lie, in this day and age what dude doesn't shave his balls even when injured? When I had my dick surgery 3 months ago mine were looking stellar.

Same thing I have. Look into a chiro with a spinal decompression table. It has worked wonders for me.

when my dad had his truck accident he had a double compound fracture on the left leg, and single fracture on the right leg. he had the same type of rig on the left leg.

we referred to the rig as his "Tinker Toys"......................
