Fire up the presses!!!Lets look at another example, College Education. About a decade ago (after 50+ years of programs like the GI Bill and such), "we" decided to make college affordable for everyone. The federal gov't opened up the money spigot, which would make college affordable for everyone. Today, 10 years later, post secondary education is more expensive than ever and costs are skyrocketing.
Why?
Because the gov't is able to print more money and ignore its debt. College's, being run by smart people, realize that all they have to do is ask for more and the gov't will simply give it to them.
And now we have congress wanting to take over all of the post secondary education system. Where is the money going to come from? That's easy, just print more of it. As the programs get larger, they bloat and cost more money. Lather rinse repeate.
The way to efficiency isn't through any government run program.
