So my friend has been building this boat for the last few years, its not your average hallett 270. So for the next few hours we have to try and find some kind of prop that will work on this boat. He has tried a few but they have all been weird worked over one off jobbies.. We will start with a 34 Maximus five blade and see where it goes from there..

The boat has more custom work done to it then just about anything I've ever seen. It's not even a Hallett Bottom anymore. Note the delta pad, different steps etc.. This was a boat that Gary Teague (GT Marine) was building for himself, and my friend purchased it midway through the project. I'll add a couple of pics of some of the custom stuff I noticed right off the bat.

I can't hold the Bimini and open the engine hatch myself or I would show you. When they get here I will take a pic. Don't quote me on it but I believe it's a gt 1100 / SCX Imco drive

Bitchen boat Dave. Is there a better picture of the bottom from the rear? How far does the pad goes to the front?
Love the 27 Halletts, but wonder what the headroom in the cabin? The hull doesn't look as deep as my Mirage's that has a 4' headroom in the cuddy.

Looked over that boat when it was at GT. Sick ride and as you stated, not your average 270.

Custom glass work is everywhere on the boat.. Most noticeable externally are the usual hallett intake vents are gone and metal vents on the back..

New vents are on inside of gunnel to preserve the external lines of the boat. ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21369936860.897963.jpg

Recessed cleats instead of on top..

It's a smaller delta pad. I will get a pic of it when I get back from picking up props etc..

WOW!!

Beautiful boat! I noticed the tip of the bow in one of either Pink Taco or OD1's pics from last weekend. Every time I see the pic I've wanted to see more. That thing is awesome! Hallett could take few notes!:thumbsup

First stop was to JJ Gibbs to borrow a 32maximus to see if it would work. The hub on the old prop needs a strip kit so second stop is to absolute.

when you mention the Delta Pad, what exactly are you refering to and what does it change on the boat?

Awesome boat BTW, the 27's are one of my favorite boats and this one is just over the top!

The boat is straight up sick. I drove it Friday I think in that rough ass water. It was cutting through it like hot knife through butter. Very tame and easy to drive. It's been a while since I've driven a standup boat, cats and my 24 are sit down boats. I felt like I was driving a tractor trailer down the Parker Strip. Lol.

It had 8 hours when I scanned it. Not even broken in yet. They wanted me to help them set the tabs and trim. Not ready to leg it out yet. I was doing 50/60 at 3/3500 rpm. Lol.

The motor is supposed to be the same one that the 33 Daytona did the shootout with, detuned. ;)

Long legged.. That'll be fun to run the bumps in. It'll be nice to see some final #'s on it. Nice to see a v-hull get some attention.

Dave,

Do you have any pictures of the bottom? I'd like to see how GT reworked it.

BY THE WAY , CE 5 blades have worked best so far on my tub.

I"m sorry SKAV I don't have any pics of the bottom. It is a single step (which I haven't seen before on a Hallett 270). We tried a maximus 5 blade and the boat was riding on the nose. We only had a 34 4 blade with us as well, which worked better but it was still on the nose a bit.

I'm surprised to hear that the step bottoms push the bow too. That's the same issue I've had since the beginning w my tub. It rides very wet, but mines a straight bottom. I had the diffuser cut off the Maximus, and I had the CEs made wo a big diffuser. I have a labbed 32 bravo, but it made the boat very loose, and I lost about 5 mph at cruise speed.

If your buddy is in SoCal, he's welcome to try a couple of my props. The largest I have are 32 4 and 5 blades though.

Have you openness it up yet? I'm curious to see what you see up top. I will say that mine is super stable up top. It feels planted, which is part of my "riding wet" complaint.

Good luck w the testing and setup. It's a beautiful boat. I saw it several times at GT, and then again at Hallett when they did the interior.

Dave,

Any updates on this? How did the testing and setup turn out?

I'd be curious to see how all the tweaks Gary did helped out. It is a stunning boat in person!

Yes it's normally in Parker.. I also found another single step hallett, so we are going to compare the bottoms of them both and try to figure out why this one has so much transom lift..

Any updates? I saw it at Hallett last year, and it looked great. Any chance it will be at DS?

Pretty sure it's back at GT performance and they're working on getting it dialed in.

Steve, Big says if you can improve the ride of the boat, you're more than welcome to try. It never seems to carry the bow like it should. What are your thoughts???
