Not really. If someone talked shit to a mfg on here They would be gone. I have thought I have made it clear that rdp isn't the old hotboat.com a 100 times.. but for some reason we never can seem To shrug that image of that old
Dave, the reasons why would extend past that section.
I have no idea which thread, which years, etc.

But I have posted the phrase in the past...

...and Dave wonders why more manufacturers don't participate (or post) here.

It may have struck a chord then, or not? I dunno. But it has been more than once or twice since I've been a member here.

The world isn't a utopia at the end of the day, but I do try to go out of my way to make sure rdp is more positive then the rest of the net with regard to the performance boating industry.

Thane is still in Cali dealing with all that is going on. When he gets back we will let everyone know what the plan is. What he did tell me is we have no plans to change everything about the Hallett brand. As of now we are not changing the styling, the teak floors or changing to a bunch of wild graphics. Things are a little hectic right now as you can imagine so give a little time and you will all know what is going to happen.

Right now we still have a Nordic deck to get out the door on Friday so BACK TO WORK!!!

Oh they all lurk on here everyday.. lol. I talk to quite a few of them on the regular and they know more about what's going on in here than I do half the time!

yup......just maybe not every day

as to why I don't post much, I am not a boater(and I've been super busy) .....besides, all the speculation and .....what was it........boatstradommus's....lol....that's funny, don't care who you are.....it entertains me

I am back at Nordic............18 months or so............

I post daily on 2 cigar forums though......so there is that............

I don't know shit about plans, except I plan on painting boats tomorrow.......just like I did today

as for unionising guys..........lol..........then we'd have time to post more, instead of actually working........(j/k)

I don't get what everyone is freeking out about...

The first 210 with a #6 Drive= Randy

The first Imported Cylclones from AUS for both I/o's and Outboards = Randy

Hallett F2 = Randy / Hallett (Imported Molds from AU)

Hallet 36= Randy (Hear Say only).

Prime Marine = Randy

Purchase of Nordic Pre Current Product Offerings = Randy

Current Nordic 21 Cylclone Splashed of His Personal Race Boat Imported from AUS

Nordic 20 OB = Cylclone 20 (Imported from AUS)

All the State of the art stuff Nordic is doing = Randy's personal boats that he built durring the Down Turn ie 43 Enforcer

This is a really good deal for the West Coast Boating Market. Those who are compairing Nordics to Majic's, Sleekcrafts ect have never been in a modern Nordic. Our family has had 3 210's, 1 Rigged by Prime, a 21 Nordic (2nd out of the mold behind Randy's Personal Boat), and now we have Randy's Personal 25' He built for Mead that we purchases prior to him even getting wet. The Guy is in the business of making money and selling top quality products. I assure you Hallet will be building the best boats they have ever made once they are set up in Havasu.

Sit back and let stuff play out....$0.02

Wrong about what? Steve Davis answering your ignorant question before you posted it or something else?

This to me seems like a win win for all. Especially the boater. One of arguably the best speed boat manufacturers taking over another amazing brand can only make things even better.

Just think of it this way, no one buys out a business to make it worst. They buy it to make it even better. I have full faith in this team to rock it!

Be happy that this happened because the alternative could have been bk and no Hallett at all.

Good on Nordic to step up and keep the Hallett brand alive. Taking full responsibility of another manufacturer isn't a very easy feat.

Heading back from havi we noticed a couple 30'+ hallett's heading north 15 out side of apple valley. 1 red/white not rigged and a yellow one looked a few years old.

Pretty sure it was John from Nordic..

Spotted in Irwindale today. Making moves?

They are hauling everything to Havasu. There are already several boats here. I just went down there and took a couple pics of the 40 with the new bottom and the 290 outboard boat.

I was referring to the article from speed on the water or whatever it is called. Thought Steve was quoted in that.

I hope the move works out as a positive for all the Hallett employees as they have always taken great care of our 240. Jim was extremely helpful and professional, always up front with all pricing for services, etc.

Hopefully it also works out well for Jerry too; he is a character, and also took great care of us, always, without question.

On the self-centered side, as a soon to be full time Havasu resident, I am stoked my Hallett will never have to be towed back to Irwindale ever again, and look forward to establishing a relationship with the Nordic family. (I just hope we don't end up "needing" a new deck boat after seeing them regularly)...

With all the equity out there in the housing market, I'm surprised Hallet Business partners would throw in the towel so quick. It must be one of those deals where the timing is right for both parties. One is cashing out at a high valuation, and another see's all that home equity laying around not being used. ;)

What do u consider a high valuation? I really wonderwhat nordic paid for this deal. But if hallett wasnt making any money how much is the name really worth? A couple hundred grand for all the molds? We all love and understand whT the hallett name means to boating but business is business and its easy to buy a failing company for virtually nothing just to get the name...restructure under new management and start making money. I see it all the time

I view this as positive as it is obvious that Nordic runs a tight operation and produces some great boats. The molds will be in good hands. Curious to see which models they keep going forward.

I would agree with Dirtbag and would wager a case of beer a brand new top of the line done up Schiada would cost more then was paid for Hallett Boats. I don't know how many molds they bought but other then that what other assets are there, maybe some materials? Also it sounds like Nordic is far ahead of Hallett at other aspects of business so they may not even want what Hallett has. What makes Hallett's so well made are the quality of materials and the expertise of the employees putting everything together. Without the employees putting eveything together to my mind the name isn't worth very much. I'm sure the name is worth something but not tons of $$$. If boating was all about a name then no hull ever splashed would sell.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for Hallett continuing and look forward to what they turn out in the future. I don't know much about Nordic but if all the inmates say they build good shit I'm sure they do.

My .02

I imagine if that accountant wasn't looking for a job due to the sale, they would be now. ;)

...and if they are bound by an NDA, that will go bad.

Great accountant with lose lips.

What I heard from a friend. I don't know names, don't quote me. Just trying to help with unanswered questions I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble

Unanswered questions?

Why is it anyone's concern what it sold for?

Brian

The last few pages of the thread had some questions about pricing. I'll delete my post if you want? Didn't think it would backfire

It's not up to me sir. I just find it odd why peeps are so concerned about the price tag.

It changes nothing really.

The statement leads to believe the accountant released the info.....likely a clear violation of their duties, and if they are doing it for one client, they do it for others.

The last time I was involved in a company valuation, a good starting point is to multiply your operating income by some multiplier that ranges from 1-15ish depending on the industry, the growth/decline of the company, the brand equity ETC. Based on what I have seen from Hallett, their multiplier would probably be anywhere from 1.5-3 times operating income.

I certainly wasn't concerned about the price either, to be clear. Just trying to have insightful posts here

Great accountant with loose lips.

Funny story, a buddy moved to town and went into a bar in LHC not that long ago. He's having a beer with his friend, whom introduces him to another fellow he's with.. Well long story short the subject of his job comes up, and the guy he just met goes into this speech "Oh I handle a guy that does that same job (rare job), he just moved to town and he's fucking loaded!! You wouldn't believe how much money.. yada yada yada." Well his buddy tries to shut him up before he completely buries himself but it's too late..

Obviously with this being a small town, and my buddy have a rare job.. It was his own accountant spouting off at the bar. LOL Needless to say he had never met him before, and now he's looking for a new accountant.
