I don't even know what the wire is suppose to be hooked up to at the motor I could look for the same colored wire under the cowling but I noticed the wire had another wire hooked up to it at one time that was clipped

The buzzer is tan with blue stripe. The tan is the sending wire for the temp gauge.

Hmmmm so a wire is suppose to come from the gauge to the beeper? Assuming that once the gauge is at a certain ohm it will make it beep?

No. there's a tan wire that comes through the harness. That's the temp gauge wire. The tan with blue is the buzzer wire. It is also in the harness. The tan with blue comes from a warning modular. IMG_3703.jpg

Yeah. Purple is your trigger wire, green is gauge lights. White with black is fuel gauge.

Can't find any cases of this oil on Amazon, theirs another site but with shipping it comes out to just the same amount as a shop would charge per Gallon

Just call a shop and have them order you a couple cases and then go pick them up.

That's because it doesn't convert to QuickSilver. It's Mercury Racing only and only a Mercury Racing Certified shop can order it.

I called a shop in upland they have only merc pre mix and I asked if I ordered in bulk could he do a better price, his response was Mercury doesn't really give us any deals on the oil so he price is what it is and that was 39$ for a gallon

I get it. But don't save money on gas and oil. It's not worth it.

Didn't say I was trying to not get the right stuff, just seeing how I can buy more and save more by buying bulk.

I used the same Merc Racing oil in my 300xs.

I obtain it by the gallon from Fallon Marine. Corina will ship it to you or they have it available at the shop

Pro Boats? He's an interesting fella. He hated dealing with me for parts for my motor since the serial number plate is gone from my motor.

There is no performance difference in the oils between Merc and the lucas product. It not only meets ALL specs that the merc does in most cases it exceeds the requirements. You will have plenty tell you that Merc is the better oil, but I doubt any have done any real world testing or certifying of the product its more of an opinion not fact.

This is it in a nutshell.
Opinions on oils are like assholes... everyone has one, but no one wants to hear it.
Although, most (if not all) top Mercury builders with the real world experience of putting their name and livelihood on the line will tell you that your 260 Merc is a Nikasil motor, which should be running a full synthetic oil... save the semi-synthetic for the steel bore engines.

So I think I'm having a fuel delivery problem at high rpm it almost sounds like it starts starving for fuel, just sounds like it starts bogging so I let off. I don't know how old or when the fuel/water separator was changed out so I'm going to try that and see what it does. Seems like I couldn't get more then 70 when I noticed it started to bog. Any suggestions

I just sent my fuel injectors to Brucato. It's $150 to have them cleaned, painted and calibrated. Might be a good idea for you.

How many lbs of fuel pressure do you have through the rpm range?

Not surging just sounds more like a bog like it's sucking more air and not getting enough fuel. But injector cleaning may be good too, I need to call Fallon Marine and ask them about the motor cause they just put it on a while back for the previous owner. I have no clue on fuel pressure I don't have a gauge

Was the battery fully charged? Ran into a similar problem with a weak battery. I highly reccommend a simon motorsports alternator kit. Was the best thing I ever did to my 260. But you need to put alien cowls for it to fit. I no longer have the alternator but I do have a really nice factory set of alien cowls sitting in my garage.

I'd have some body look at it soon. 2 strokes burn up when they start getting starved for fuel. I loved my 260 but got tired of replacing them. the 300 is nice but it does not handle like the 2.5.

3 motors in 7or so years. 1,melted piston, 2,poorly rebuilt imo scored cylinders,3 ate a ring. The 300 was the #4 and it's still going.
