Looks like they take effect today. No alcohol, helmets under 18, and a safety course, along with some other great ideas. 👎🏾

Not once have I even heard this governor speak. She sits somewhere, and pops up to sign stuff. The other governors I at least used to hear clips on the radio. This one is worthless.
Article says a Republican introduced this Bill...much in response to Sedona complaints, Apparently, Hobbs just nodded & signed.

What was the UTV alcohol rule before?

Also, California is the one who needs the safety course for all the new Glamis goers since Covid, it needs to include how to store a trash bag and pack your shit out too.
The idiots that toss trash rank near the top of people I'd like to punch in the face.

It's funny though. Kerr authored the bill due to a friend's complaint in Sedona. The people screwing up that area tend to be renters, not owners of SxS's, like @2Driver mentioned. The area where Kerr represents is 150 miles away I think, down by the nuke plant.

I feel like this was quietly pushed through
I'd read they planned to keep SxS's off the city streets in Sedona but beyond that I hadn't seen anything about the helmets, licenses(which seemed natural) & training course.

Safety course I'm OK with. There are plenty of bad drivers that need it. So maybe that add a tiny amount of knowledge.

Helmets don't impact us. But I think I'm OK with it under 18. I'm thinking all of az, not simply havasu. Reducing child injuries is my thinking here. The vast majority of havasu I see kids wearing them already.

Alcohol. This one sucks. They just created desert trash. A handful of empties in the car and you're set up for questioning. I don't 'drink' and drive. But at stops there are beers my 'friends' may consume.

Let's not kid ourselves. This was coming. Nobody should be surprised.

The government upper hand I understand. It sucks

Do they even have a safety course you can take online?

These people are assholes

Steven Letoski was instrumental in starting this shit…. He needs to be out of his role… politicians can’t grasp the negative economic impact of stuff like this

I feel most of these laws came about from driving on the roads, which is what most az people prefer. keep your shit off-road and probably would have been fine. haha

Wait a hold it. Did this bill just wipe out all youth power sports

It appears they define OHV and just about everything that can go offroad, including dirt bikes quads sxs Jeeps etc AND you have to have a valid drivers license to drive.

The way I read the draft bill = yes.
That was supposed to be refined so youth OHV required safety course and helmet only.

No. There is other AZ regulation allowing minors without licenses to ride in the dirt.

They can’t ride on the street without a license.

Welcome to CA.

So Fn gay!

Going to make it so unenjoyable for toddlers and small children to ride in side-by-sides. These idiots that make up all these stupid ass rules obviously have no involvement in the sport whatsoever.

I don't think it affects Jeeps?
It won't affect me either way.

Y’all will bitch and complain, but then conform, and pretty soon it’s normal. Welcome to Eastern California. Pretty soon you will need to smog your vehicles, have limited gun and ammunition availability, and participate in alphabet people training classes.

The way it is written, you need a license to drive on a government maintained road……that would include a lot of dirt roads like Alamo, Chicken Springs and pretty much everything in the Yucca area. I want to know how they are going to enforce this

We probably don’t know how they’re going to enforce it. 😬. Guessing it comes with additional head count

Ours has been wearing a helmet most of the time. I think it’s more of a hassle for teens. It should be like life vests, 12 and under. No 17 year old is going to want to put a helmet on. As far as drinking, I rarely have more than a beer or two. I’ll literally only pack 2 in the cooler. Most times I wait until we get back to crack one. I don’t want to put my wife and kids in a bad situation because I’m drinking and I made a bad decision. Same with the boat, I’ve pretty much given up drinking when we’re out.

How to enforce ? Hire more revenue collectors at tax payer expense . Hyper enforce any and all misdemeanor violations and walla , instant extra revenue generation .

Close riding areas and condense everyone to a small area. Makes it easier to shoot the fish when the barrel is small.

They're going to enforce the safety certificate by requiring you submit it when applying for your new OHV sticker. The Two Certified courses I can find are about $ 35.

Also leads to more accidents which self serves to create more laws and restrictions

HEY!!!! Don’t come on here speaking any common sense…
If u drink beer in a car your a pos.
If u drink beer in a boat just be careful
If u drink in a sxs you should be able to as long as you’re responsible.
And don’t tell me when my kid needs a helmet. Lol

I would hold off on taking a class just yet:

From the AZGF website:

**While these courses provide valuable safety and operational information they are not the OHV course that was identified in the new OHV legislation. Arizona Game and Fish is in the process of developing that course. More information to come.
