Amazingly they have gone up in price. And if you have an 850 with a pilot door they will really pay up.

And once you get a 6 or more in front of your age the insurance people run away faster than the ladies at a bar...........
But what about the climate ?

The TBMs are a little bit better than the Malibu's, but getting into the cockpit if you are more than 6 feet takes a little doing. The pilot doors I'm sure are a huge plus.

I still wouldn't throw one out of bed for eating crackers.

If it’s just you and the wife on most flights less than 700nm, I actually like the M600 as it isn’t that much slower and the operating cost is about 40 percent less.

Shoot, I guess you need to be doing really well to be flying around in private! And I guess this illustrates how dumb most of the mid-level rappers and Internet influencers really are LOL. They make a few mil, with no real investments or guarantees for future income, and they start blowing it $50-100k at a time on flights on the reg without any reason besides wanting to show off. Money don't last long if you live like that!

You’re way off on your insurance guesstimate. More like $25k a year for a 4 year old 930 with $10mm liability and $4mm hull.
Clearly he gets the "leftist/globalhomo good guy deal." Haha

You are onto something here. Lol

I think the go be poor some where else is appropriate ;)

There are a lot of pilots on here and as you can see a lot of people that own jets. At least two members (lurkers) have charter companies.

Out of any place I could think of to ask to rent one rdp would seem to be the most appropriate.

Sorry ya felt someone was showing off.. it’s lame comments like that though that do prevent some of the more affluential people from participating or asking the questions themselves. I personally don’t give a shit what someone thinks of it.

Why not just buy a flight ?

well I think that was the point of the thread.. lol. To price out and possibly buy a flight?

I am not big on the aircraft terminology but to explain to the best of my limited knowledge, a “dry lease” is literally just renting the plane. You provide the pilots the fuel and anything and everything else required.

A charter is when the plane comes with fuel, pilots, paying to land at the airport etc.

It would seem to charter for this trip would be in the mid 60’s.. was hoping a dry lease would be less but that doesn’t seem to be readily available (and is more complicated being the pilots have to be certified basically in the exact aircraft)

I am fine with flying commercial and have voiced my opinion on that as that is what I think we should do.. but to state the obvious if I’m gone for a day or two it’s worth xyz dollars.. for others if they are gone for a day or two maybe there’s a comma and some zeroes behind the xyz when they don’t goto work that day so maybe for them it’s worth it..

That said I’ve never owned a plane.. this guys plane that just sold was a Lear 75. I don’t pretend to know what his needs / wants are, or what is worth or not worth to him. I can only do that for myself.

The going rate is about $4500 per hour according to a Google search. That seems reasonable based on typical private jet fees.

RD, look around your area for a Pilatus Charter. Last years superbowl we had more people to haul than our bird would fit. We cchartered a PC12 to Scottsdale and Back to Iowa for 16K. 5 hours out, 3.5 hours back. We had one handicap wheelchair passenger. Good Luck to you. -R

It's hard to throw this kind of deal together on the quick. There's a reason they call it on demand charter.

If this kind of program is what you want available you'll need to find an operator of a more modest airplane, say someone with one a legacy Citation or the like and work out lease agreement. You'll want to consult an aviation attorney who specializes in these types of agreements so you avoid it looking like a bootleg charter situation. Then you can hammer out cost, insurance, scheduling and all that fun stuff.

PC12 is an awesome plane, but not exactly fast if you’re trying to save time going cross country. 🤪

I'd imagine 55-70K is about the number, I just looked into this for me and some pals to fly to Clio and Portola area in June for golf, called Guardian Air in ONT and shit myself when I heard the prices, KA to a jet ranged 18.5-45K, NO THANKS, SWA and a rental.

Now I do have a family member and a friend with jets but i don't ask for favors, can't afford the return tax on said favor.

On the surface the Jet Cards look like a way to go. Buy 25 hours of air time. Again, anywhere I fly, SW has a route that gets me close.

I was looking for an empty leg flight to Texas a few months ago and was surprised to see one pop up from Avi Suquilla {Parker} to Philly. 😳

Don’t see them out of here very often.

Yo RD, this wasn't directed at you or anyone on here.

I'm pretty certain that anyone that is involved with airplanes on this site is smart money. And them using their toys or chartering won't put them in the red.. Not who I was making fun of :)

Yeah, I had to move to fort Mohave to fit in…
But I now know my place and have no more illusions about my station in life.

Your initial post, the way I read it, seemed that the thread was for showing off and that is mere poppers should go he poor somewhere else.

I explained that in this particular group it would be a fitting topic because there are several here that are in the industry and quite frankly travel that way. Whether it makes sense for everyone or not is irrelevant but the way the post reads, is also the reason why the people that travel that way asked me to post the thread as opposed to posting it themselves. (Go he poor somewhere else jokes)

To add to that we now have Tommy saying he moved to another town because he supposedly didn’t fit in due to a lack of income.. which is laughable on its face because the guy is rolling around in a pretty bad ass Vette etc.. lol.

I find it absolutely bizarre why people give even a random shit what other people make.. or more to the point why they’d compare themselves to anyone else?

To the end that discussion anybody (and I mean anybody) is capable of generating as much or as little wealth as they want.. most just don’t try or settle when they hit some arbitrary goal that they have embedded in their mind for whatever reason.

Dave was waiting for someone to pull an ultimate flex off and be like, “Come on man, jump on my jet I got you!” 😂

But as we can see thats some pricey shit!

lol I was looking for a ride buddy.. but make no mistake even if that was in my wheelhouse I still woulda posted the thread.

What has come out of it behind the scenes has been incredibly informative and useful! :).

It’s “pauper”…just sayin! Lol

And nowhere did I make any mention of “lack of income”.
My income is just fine, and might even surprise you.
(It surprises me sometimes!)
My post was about the “go be poor” aspect, and the chasing of other peoples wealth.
Those are things I find bizarre.
Thanks for the corvette compliment!
It’s the coolest thing I own!
My younger grandsons think it’s the Batmobile.
Did you know? One Merc 450r is $20K MORE than I paid for that car… One speed car is $10K- $30K (easy) more as well, depending on set up. A newish Ford 3/4 ton truck is double what the Vette cost. You can buy 3 of my cars or 1 optioned out wagoner or whatever those fancy jeeps are. You can easily buy 5ea C-7 ZO6 vettes for less than 4 rigged 450r’s.
Anyway, I find it difficult to believe that the more affluent people you are targeting don’t post here because the less affluent are mean to them and make fun of their jets.

Everyone seems to poke fun at flying private, I guess because they actually are unable to? I cant either at this point, but if I ever am able, I will absolutely do it as much as humanly possible.

It's the closet thing you or I will ever get to a time machine.😎

Well if it’s any consolation, it was informative for me. Never heard of the term Dry Lease so I looked it up and now I know.

Being from the realm of jet boats and 2 stroke skis, I'd never heard of a "dry lease" either. I had heard of the Adrenaline Reaper though...but didn't remember seeing too many pics. Well, I found a good ad for one in Florida. This being a boating site and all, thought I'd post a link.
Yee-Haw, I could deal with one!

I read a study some time ago that said most people’s motivation to earn more money decreases once the necessity’s of living are meet
This being food, shelter and Sex and maybe offspring once these items have been acquired motivation to work more is reduced
It is the very few that are driven to achieve more and more, those that do drive innovation and the economy forward, we all know people like that and some of us on RD are those people that’s way some people spend 100’s of thousands to go 10mph faster than the last boat
But we also have people that just getting on the water is all that’s required.
The majority of Americans will never even own a boat anybody that has a boat is more motivated to achieve than average but some will still poke fun at those that have a fancier boat than them.
I found a level of income that I feel is enough I could easily expand and earn more but that would take away from my free time and cause more stress I am not jealous of those that earn more but I do worry about some I know because I see a decline in their health and I think stress is a big reason along with alcohol and drugs.
Something to ponder what’s the difference between a party weekend for a rich and a poor person.
The rich guy jumps on his private jet to get to his yacht and has the crew drive his people around the water for the weekend while they get drunk on very expensive alcohol
The poor guy walks to his neighbors house brings the Bergers and beer and floats around the pool getting drunk who had a better time ?
The end result is the same a good time spent with family and friends

As a member of the peanut gallery I try not to insult another persons choice of how much is spent or what they spend it on,

That said I will make one comment on peoples color choice when buying toys
When you were a kid and had 64 crayon colors what was your favorite and is it the same today
Then why do you chose to paint things grey, brown, white, silver now if those are your favorite colors great if not why not your favorite

Dave, if you really care about who posts here, what makes wealthy people avoid posting here is most likely all the January 6 - get-off-my-lawn - COVID/global warming/the flu/winter is a hoax - EVs are for idiots - the Mopar Powerflite transmission is the best ever, because a normal ´guy could rebuild it in an afternoon, and nobody needs more than two speeds forward anyway - type posts.

Making fun of a real estate agent who doesn't know what it costs to fly on a private jet is actually quite funny, and I don't think anyone would be worried about being associated with that. 🤭
