After looking around on the interweb, it appears to be a 1954 Pontiac Chieftain. The pics are terrible, because it is a cell pic, from a long ways away, on a dreary day. You can't see it in the pics, but it says California Highway Patrol on the door. I would imagine it is real.

Who knows. Maybe someone was high up in the CHP and got it as a retirement gift. Or maybe just a clone.

Now yer talking. The Drag-U-La was one of Barris's best creations. Here's a short YouTube video that's taken from the "Hot Rod Herman" episode with Al Lewis (Grandpa) hauling ass in his Drag-U-La.

Did I mention Yvonne De Carlo was incredibly smokin' hot? She was 42 when this photo was taken. Photoshop didn't exist in 1964.

Most people don't know two of the '55 Chevys used in Two Lane Blacktop were the same cars Harrison Ford drove in American Graffiti. One was used for all of the cruising scenes, and the "stunt car" was used for the rollover sequence.

The '55 that burned after the crash was a third non-post car, and the prop master had the set carpenters install a spray painted 2 X 4 to mimic the C pillar in the other cars.

I figured out the burn car was a different vehicle back when the movie was released in 1973. The car Harrison Ford drove had the rear wheel openings enlarged for the big tires, and the car had chrome wheels with button hubcaps.

The '55 that was upside down and burning had stock rear fender openings, small tires, and steel wheels that were spray painted silver. If you watch the film, it's easy to see it's a prop car.

A link to a good story about the '55s used in both movies:

McQ

Starring John Wayne

I owned a red 1973 T/A, bought it new from Bud Beck Pontiac in Scottsdale for $5,400. The SD-455 in it was the last of the big block muscle car engines, and on a cool day at OCIR, I managed a 13.88 pass just under 100 MPH. I don't recall any other 1973 model that ran below a 15 second ET.

The passage of the Clean Air Act and the OPEC oil embargo killed the muscle car era. When I bought the Firebird, GM, Ford, and MoPar had already begun building cars with compression ratios at or under 8:1. By 1975, the Corvette had a 165 HP 350 and the Mustang II, derived from a Pinto chassis, had made the big block Mach 1 just a memory.

Here's link to a Car and Driver article about the '73 T/A. It was a fun car, the "one I should have kept".

Buddy Hackett, Suzanne Pleshette, and Dean Jones...comedy gold. :D

I had the hots for Pleshette when I was 12. I'd never heard of a MILF, but I liked what I saw. :D :D

Sorry, but you've got your MILF's mixed up - that's Michelle Lee in the Love Bug.

And he could take you down at 50 yards with his 2"
