Finally got around to wet sanding down the countertop. Has 2 small little low spots, and 2 spots without much “rock” in it. Maybe 2” sections. Just going to leave it. Turned out pretty damn smooth.

Now to get some good high gloss sealer and cast a concrete backsplash.

Nope. It's about 9 hours to Pape'ete, clear customs, then another 35 min to Bora Bora. Long day for sure, but not terrible.

Bora Bora? It has to be the most isolated place in the world, 4200 miles from New Zealand, 6800 miles from Hawaii and 8000 miles from LA

Aren't you on a plane yet?
I wasn’t, 1 hr+ delay, technical difficulties with their computers this AM. On another bird in DTW. Didn’t get a chance to catch breakfast as planned, but we’re on time for the final destination, so we’re all good. Even better is I just got notified my bag made it on the plane too!:)

I heard there were some weight and balance software issues industry wide. Kind of made a mess of things for the airlines

Then just take you new trawler or have you come to your senses and dropped that idea?:p

Ain't no body got time for that! And besides, there isn't enough volume in a 65 foot boat to fuel a pair v16's for 6000 miles if you filled the entire hull with diesel. :D

Used a 2 part epoxy sealer. These pics are from last night and I put a second coat on after the first one dried enough. Turned out pretty nice for a shop countertop. Looked at it this morning and it looks about the same so no new pics. I also ground the Thompson Water seal off my test counter top and resealed it with this stuff.

Now to make a couple backsplash forms.

The one I had, had a solid surface type little side table. This one is hammer finished painted steel.

I like it because it uses propane to light the charcoal. Not a fan of cooking on gas.

I looked at that same grill at the local hardware. It had a satin finish copper/bronze color.

They had red, copper, and black on display. I wanted a new one in the box, that wasn't assembled. I'll lose my own random fasteners thank you.

He only had copper and black new in the box. Took the black one.

Wanted a red one, but whatever....

Black will be fine.

Went ahead and formed and poured backsplashes tonight. Tamped it in nice with a small piece of poplar, and tapped it down with a rubber mallet.

Will see how they do. I know I’m going to have to add a little cement under the big one for a level flush mount.

Now to let it cure until Friday night. Thinking about skipping the Supercross in Nashville this weekend because I’m so far behind.
