Starting to tie up loose ends here, should have everything ship shape mid April, then we'll put it up for sale

Spoke with Wayne a while ago. He said to say hi, and ask you about the story of the wrong way driver when he was in Nebraska.

Sunset across the street from my house. I’m in TC for the brides birthday/springbreak. The wife is sleeping. I’m watching Michigan get a smack down.

I was on one of my many trips driving to and from the Keys, it was really late and was talking to Wayne on the phone and out of the blue he screams something really loud. Yep he was driving on a divided 4 lane and out of nowhere he gets passed by a car driving the wrong way. That kept us both up and wide awake. He’s got a couple of good stories, flying turkeys, sleeping deer:)

Just got home from dinner and beers with an old friend of yours, Bobcat.:p

Wow! That’s a blast from the past, I don’t think I’ve talked with Bobcat since the Serious Offshore days. How’s the old man doing?

I think we talked post Irma, he stayed in Key West and rode her out, if I remember right

He’s doing well. Lives on Little Torch. Always fun to talk to. Tried to get him to get on RDP or BF but he is still an SOS loyalist.

So the brewery is owned by the guy who owns the dairy where I've been working, the one with the carousel. Here is a picture of his shop for his custom farming operation. View attachment 740314

Since the Midwest Farm thread I'm oddly intrigued by farming --- so what is "Custom" farming ? Farm to fill specific orders ?

"Custom" may mean different things to different applications. In this case, he has all of the machinery and equipment to provide services for both his farming operations and other farmers in the area. From field work such as tillage, planting, and harvesting, to milk hauling, seed and fertilizer applications, manure spreading, even long haul transportation.

BTW, I would love to see an avacado operation or almond groves.

Custom farming refers to doing specific jobs like planting, harvesting, or applications by someone, for someone else. For example, I grow and harvest my own corn, but I also do some custom harvesting for couple neighbor farms that do not have their own harvesting equipment. They just pay me on a per acre rate. The USDA periodically puts out a guide with rate ranges for what custom rates are in certain areas. We calculate our rates based on what our costs plus a decent profit margin are, and charge accordingly. Make sense?

Why don't you post some pictures of your avocado grove? ;)

My Grove ? LOL :D:D To put my grove into proper perspective and considering this is a boating website here's a relative comparison.

Exhibit A --- a boat (my pre-fire grove in this basis of comparison)
Rowboat_with_oars.jpg

Exhibit B -- another boat (A real commercial avocado grove)

mega-boat.jpg

I'm sure you get my point :)

Notice I also wrote pre-fire. My grove burned, oh it's still there, but what grew back was mostly the root-stock. Also due to water restrictions I stopped watering with the exception of a few trees for family use. Most the trees are dying a slow death from lack of water, I'm over it because I'm too old to give a fuck.

If I had half a brain I'd be farming pot :D Except the cost of round the clock security to keep the fuckin middle aged kids still living with mom and pop across the street from smoking it all would be costly. Also my even older extreme right wing neighbors would probably shoot me :(

Buddy, there's nothing to see here :p Perhaps family orchard would be a better term --- I dunno, to old to give a fuck, :(:( again LOL :D:D:D

The tiny spec of grove is behind this mean ole fuck standing wearing a vintage Hot Boat shirt in the middle of the picture --- the ground squirrels, gophers and rattlesnakes love it :eek: For me it's a killing field, keeps my aggression at manageable levels :D

So the display on the radio in the work truck was intermittent and finally lost all illumination this week. It drove me nutz.

I popped the radio out of the dash for a little surgery.

I threw it on the bench and pulled the face off. The soldering on the resistors seemed to be the issue. I touched them all up with some fresh solder. They weren't the prettiest as I didn't have a wick for the excess solder.

apparently it did the trick, full display is back. Gotta let my dad know that his soldering iron from his days of tv repair worked like a champ.

Royal Radio closed a couple years ago. Really miss them. They would still fix a radio.

Radio and tv repairs are a bygone era. Dad said it turned into filling out warranty paperwork as radios and TVs are mostly throw aways anymore.

Do you have room for a decent sized Hut at the new HQ?
No. Iirc my new lot is only 7400sf ish?
That's including the land that the driveway, house and garage is sitting on.
The plan is to purchase a legit commercial building and use that as a toybox/ business shop. :)

I have my eye on one. Depends on the timing of the current owner.

Stopped in at the country club.
It isnt "officially" open yet, but they've tapped the kegs for the season.
The GM was outside on a cart. He says, "doors open, pour yourself a beer. I'll be back in a little while", and took off.:D

After driving past this place for my entire life I finally stopped in and asked what the story was. It was originally an old Fox Farm, and they were raised for their furs. The building has fallen into disrepair and is no longer safe to go up into the tower..

That sucks, I bet I could see my house from the top....

We just shipped some sailboat parts to Superior.
Blowboats are pretty popular up there. Granted most are dock queens with their owners blathering on and on about the one actual trip outside the harbor back in '87.. doesn't stop them from donning the white pants and captains hat while imbibing martinis at the local yacht club. :D:p:p:p

I wouldn't categorize that group as actual "boaters"....
