I'm glad the flight worked out and hope the kiddo gets the care needed. I'm sure the parents are overwhelmed with concern.

Sorry I'm late to the party, glad she is ok and made it safely.

I know the crews that work that on that bird and they are all good ppl. Jen is by far one of the best nurses I've ever worked with.

I had a wreck on the 10 last year that I needed to fly the patient and jen showed up, she managed to drop a chest tube in a guy all while still trying to hit on my medic student I had at the time. She did the whole procedure without ever taking her eyes off the intern.

To touch on the heat issue, standard patient weight limit is 300-350lbs depending of distance of flight and how much fuel is needed. That number drops to 250lbs on the bell helicopters and 300lbs on the 135 helicopters when temperatures are over 115* because of air density. Heat, weight, and wind that has gust changes of 15mph or more are common reasons a bird will be grounded.

I was listening on the scanner when the call came in. It wasn't really clear, at first it was suspected drowning then once they had her on the fire boat they said heat related. Any idea what the story was? Sounded like she was on an HTM around copper canyon.

Prayers to you you got a wonder why they don’t fly to Las Vegas. It’s 93° here as I speak no wind clear skies and I think the flight time is 20 minutes from Havasu.. maybe a hospital issue?
With it being a child, it seems most times they head to Phoenix Children's. It may also depend on the illness or injury. With adults, they may "call ahead" to see who has an open OR or who is not already slammed from other events.

I hope the girl is doing well, and here parents made it safely there too.

It more has to do with bed availability and insurance. Sunrise in Vegas will accept all patients as long as they have available beds and the specialty services needed are available

The baby girl ended up passing away about an hour and fifteen minutes after she landed at PCH. I really have no info outside of that and it isn't the time to ask.

I wanted to thank everyone who reached out to friends and family members. You might have been the one that got her to PCH with at least fighting chance. The forum has helped me with a lot of situations and this is at the top of the list. I can't thank everyone enough.

I'm not sure that I need to say this but please keep any critical or hurtful comments to yourself. The family are long time members of our boating/Havasu community. Please make sure that they feel supported by what they read here.

Oh man. I didn’t know, Mad asked if I had any updates this morning but said she couldn’t tell me anything in case it got back to the family. She did confirm just now, since I know already. She said it was a really sad case. She sees really sad stuff, I honestly don’t know how she deals with it. I couldn’t.

RIP little girl. 😢😢

I'm pretty sure most parents agree, this is truly one of our worst nightmares. Mine are older now, but I don't think it would matter, they are still my kin, my blood.

My condolences and prayers for the family. The little one's pain is over now, and yet their's has just begun 😔

Such a sad thing to hear. Like most have said that is a parents worst nightmare. Sad to think that family went out to have a good time just like the rest of us and sometimes not everyone makes it back. It really is heartbreaking.

Tyler please let us know if there is anything we as a boating community can do to lighten their load. Praying for their hearts as I know they are broken. I was praying so hard that this wouldn’t be the outcome. Definitely a parents worst nightmare. 🙏

My wife is a staff member at HRM… She has not shared anything with me but obviously is aware of it.. My heart aches for the family, as a father of a young girl things like this really bother me to my core. May this sweet angel of the lord find rest. If there is a GFM for her burial please post it...we will donate.

I opened this thread hoping to find some good news. I can’t help but think of the great time I just had with my kids and it absolutely breaks my heart to think about the soneone saying goodbye to their baby. They are in my prayers and it reminds me how blessed I really am. All the little bull crap that gets me upset and really this is such an eye opener. Fuck life is so beautiful and so ugly at the same time

I wanted to thank everyone again for their support and prayers. This website and it's network are amazing.

We're currently just trying to support them however we can. Sending grocery orders, Door Dashing dinners, toys to help occupy their 2 year old? Any advice on supporting grieving parents will help me, my wife, and our friends.

Also, there is now a GoFundMe set up for them. Any support from the boating community will be greatly appreciated.
