This should be fun:
Adam was the first man created in God's image.
Most Neanderthals are currently occupying some town square.
Monkeys were, are and will always be primates. Darwin may have been one. :D

This from a man of science? A doctor. I don't know if you are a Medical Doctor, JD, PHD or just use the handle. Please explain, why a man of science could make such a comment about Darwin? What is you take on Einstein?

I'll ask my neighbors about the wet hair Mormon girls exiting the Temple. Maybe a new cleansing deal they got going for the 2011 season.

I live amongst many of the Mormons here in Mesa. I got no hate towards them. They watch my pad when I'm away from home. They know I'm not one of them. We are all OK with that :D. I try to offer them a soda or beer. I just get that "no thanks" smile or the ol Not in front of the Family wink. ;):thumbsup

My pops used to talk about the war days. Always ended the stories like this, In Battle, there are no atheist in a fox hole. When wounded Most everyone calls out for two things, Mom and God. Or at least mention God. Like, Oh my God I'm gunna die. God I'm Hit. Oh My God.lol Some even mention his son, EI. Jesus Im Hit. Jesus H Christ sumbitch got me. lol

Carry on...

If one examines the "paradox" of eternity, one must conclude that essence proceeds existence.

The naval, nor the lint, came first.
The naval just collected what was already there! Duh!!!

Very profound.
This brings up the smoking weed idea again.

The world was created in six periods - called days then he rested the seventh, but in 2 Peter it's states that a day to the Lord is like a thousand years to man. That being said, this mortal probation has now been going on for about 6000 years which means we are soon due to have the second coming of Christ who will usher in the Millennium (seventh period) before wrapping things up for this world. How was that?

I keep believing these are honest questions. Should I not? :D

A man asked God "What's a million years to you"?
God answered "A second"
The man asked God "What's a million dollars to you"?
God answered "A penny"
The man asked God "Will you give me a penny"?
God answered "Sure"!!!!!

"in a second":D

Serious question, why does the after life always have to come with a god attached, can there not be a life after this with no god, just as this life has no god??

Sure, it's called Buddhism :D

I love that for 5K years, a day was a day. Now that it's been proven to most that the Earth is more than 5-6K years old, now all of a sudden a day means "a time period that we really don't know how long it is." Christians just recently discovered this somehow within the last 50 years, perhaps through some new data :D Convenient.

It's the latter actually. I sell land and have for 35 or so years. Some guy referred to me as "Dr. Dirt" often and the name stuck so I use it to this day. Sorry to disappoint. I have a daughter who is a doctor however, does that count?
Religion requires faith. The Lord designed it that way.
Darwinism requires a vast imagination and zero religious beliefs. IMHO
(I certainly didn't come from monkeys and I believe 'have faith' that we were all created in God's image, not a monkey.
Einstein was a mathematical genius - relatively speaking.

I sort of figured the "doctor" was just a handle.
Webster Definition of Faith-
faith/fāTH/Noun: 1.Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
2.Strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

Just sayin!

Why do some feel the need to try to change other's views?

Riverson, you can't prove your view is correct any more than The Doctor can.

I'm going to guess you to be a young man. Perhaps 25 or less? Older people tend to realize the futility of trying to impress their views on others.

The real value of these threads is reading what other people are all about. You can learn a lot about your friends during intimate moments such as these. That is a rare opportunity.

If you can resist the urge to argue, you might discover something wonderful going on here.

...Although I've never posted on RD's site... ...The absurdity of some of the coments in this thread has me...LMFAO... ...Very remenisent of HB and PB,...before it took on a quasi military structure???

...Now, should I rack my brain as to what I have learned about the Morman religion... ...Probably not,... as for the moment all I can remember about what goes inside the Temple, is that the ceremonies inside are not for the eyes and ears of anyone not of a certain level within the religion,...or for the outside world... ...From what I recall hearing, it is very etherial inside the Temple... ...Possibly it's a dry run for the hereafter... If so,...it's nice to know that the Morman girls in heaven will have squeeky clean hair???...;)

I am sure I will never change his mind. It is that discussing faith as fact, well doesn't hold up.

Tom- I am 48 with an advanced degree in let's just say these issues.

I hate to disagree with the great sage but if he bases his arguement on faith and I agrue with facts,I will win no matter what you say.
I really think you have great insight in most issues, in this case not so much.

You will only win in your mind, not his. In his mind, you will never win. You can't argue with faith. It is the belief of something with complete absence of reason. Reason has no place in religion. Either you believe in a higher power that is not able to be proven, or you don't.

BTW, IMO, Mormons believe Jesus is the son of God = Christian. What other Christians opinion of their other beliefs is, is irrelevant. Belief that there was an immaculate conception and that Christ resurrected 3 days after his execution is the foundation of Christianity. Therefore, Mormons are Christian. Everything else just makes each variety of Christianity (thank you Dr. Luther) just that, a different variety. Same with Jehovah Witnesses.

You don't have to be Old to be wise!

The fact that I have only spent 3-4 months posting on this site doesn't mean I am a Moron!

I know I will never change anyone's views this is an exchange that I didn't start.

Tom- you've PMd me before. PM again and I will discuss.

You've already lost. You're running past a $20 bill to get to the shiny nickel.

The fact that you feel there is something to "win" suggests you are in no position to judge me. As for my wisdom, thanks for the generous appraisal but so what?

You make a good point. There's nothing wrong with the thought processes of younger people.

You don't come across as the person you say you are, however, that's not all that relevant.

Riverson, I recommend that you accept the Lord and receive eternal salvation.

Angie, Jesus died for your sins.

It's a good thing, because I sin a lot.

Although, I'm not sure why eating too much and vanity are mortal sins, but murder is not. Murder you can be forgiven for, apparently. Word to the wise as Thanksgiving approaches :skull

Declaring yourself a winner doesn't always impress people with your grasp on reality, Tiger Blood.

If you give yourself to Jesus, you will be saved.

Impressing others is not the goal. Win, lose or draw the goal is the exchange!

Winning is just the cherry on top.

Doc, you obviously know your bible backwards and forwards and after studying the same book for half a century I would hope so:D I respect your convictions and am 99.9% sure your a solid guy with good values and morals which is fine by me:thumbsup However you dont seem to know jack about Darwin, let me give you a basic example of evoloution. There was a species of birds on and island (secluded enviroment) over the course of years of observation there was a drought and food became more difficult to come by. Some of the birds had a slightly larger beak (few milillimeters) but this allowed them greater fitness for their enviroment as they were able to crack open nuts of a slightly larger size than the smaller beaked birds of the species and had a larger food supply. Over time the smaller beaked birds were not able to survive but the larger beaked birds did. As they reproduced the trait of having a slightly larger beak became prevelent in the species and now all the birds have slightly larger beaks. There are a few ways that biological evoloution occurs, Natural Selection, Mutation, Genetic Drift, Gene flow and non random matings. Biological evoloution is a change in allele frequency over time like the bird beaks I mentioned, nothing more nothing less. Homo sapiens did not evolve from apes however we do share an extinct common ancestor from the Catarrihni infra-order and diverged from the Pan ancestor approx 6 million years ago. Hominid fossil records show that the Austopithecines (2-6 MYA) shared several traits with modern day man but here are some major differences. there cranial capacity (brain size was approx 400-500CC where as modern mans cranial capacity is 1200-1800CC. Some of the five factors of bilogical evoloution are what has caused this increase in brain size and changes in other features. There is a lot more to it but I get the idea you are pretty content in your faith and happpy with the information you have. I am not saying there is no God, creation myths are not testable by science nor were they intended to be. What you are talking about is supernatural what I am talking about is proven science.

My whole point of this little rant is that you might want to consider getting some solid information on these sound bites (darwinism) that you are throwing around. It will greatly help your recourse during these exhanges of information. Good evening and have a great weekend:thumbsup

Know thine enemy. That's why I want to read the Qur'an. I want to be able to argue effectively. And the Bible also. I've read about 1/2 of it, but not straight through. Maybe over the summer.
