Hang in there low river , I did three months straight six days a week at 12 hours during the Rodney riots in 1992, not to to mention many other incidents prior to that.

Back in the night to the first night the gangsters pulled out all their guns they were shooting fully automatic everywhere it was an unbelievable sight.

I want a dead bodies those first two days it was payback against the rival gangs took a while for homicide detectives to figure it all out.

The business is south of the Santa Monica Freeway and there are many, were wiped out every crane business emptied and not one car dealership left, they never came back.

South LA now is a complete shit hole it looks worse than it did in 1980. That’s no joke and not an exaggeration. A few exceptions will be a couple of small spots along Crenshaw but that’s about it. After that any decent black family they can get out got out of Dodge, they all went to the inland empire.

Thank you for what you do. You guys have no way of knowing who is with or against you, so there is only one option when encounters like this are made....unfortunately...

I graduated the second day of the 92’ Riots, guess I needed a second time with the 2000 DNC in the middle.

I’m on 12’s Day Watch, I was on Vacation so not much O/T lol
National Guard now actively on skirmish lines in Hollywood

Not LA but sums up where we are at nationwide. Good thing I’m in Bomb Squad, I’d center punch her with a 40mm flex baton round and retire the same day. 28years is a good run lol.

Best OT time, 84 Olympics assigned to Air Support Division, in airships Army Hugheys, and Goodyear Blimp. In DNC I was one of two department experts locked in OCID writing search warrants with a great DDA. We worked intel side going after anarchists. Severn days a week, 12 hours a day, 2 weeks. Good results, and amazing detail. I was blessed to work a 3rd floor detectives assignment for 13 years. I could write books all day long.

Santa Monica is calling for removal of its Chief
“Resign Renaud” (name)
She was in Sacramento the day of, only had 20 Officers deployed and no plan to stop looting.

LAPD and LASD came in and helped stop it.

She is former Long Beach command staff and was Chief of Fremont prior to SM

Very weak leader.

And you have to wonder where her acting chief was, or was he/she taking direction from. Just 20, what a joke

This Chief is head of some Police Chief’s association and is traveling all the time.
They were told to regroup at the pier at one point.
Yeah, pretty sure the looters cared less
About a pier lol!

My goal is to retire in 2028 after the Olympics. Will put me at 37 years on the job and 60 years old, God willing
Will be training 12 new Bomb Techs by then, got my hands full.

First I wanted to say thank you for your service! I wish your politicians would let you do more to stop all of this.

Today: some of
The property carnage at $105K+ per vehicle

You must have some gold stashed in them somewhere or you are getting screwed. We pay less than half that even after outfitting over on the other side of the country.

Been and interesting week. This is the first day I've been able to actually leave work under 13 hours .

FREEDOM OF SPEECH is a fucking awesome thing. I'm not being sarcastic, I mean it. It is also a very powerful and scary tool in the wrong hands. I won't give specific locations, but we have been on skirmish line details, and building security details all week. The fun generally begins at night when the game of Cops and Rioters begins. If you have never been inside or near a angry mob you don't know what you are missing. You can feel the tension in the air, and the pure hate being spewed in your direction. It is an interesting place to be knowing they are doing what I am sworn to protect, yet don't get protection from it myself (think about it for a second and it will make sense).

OUR NATIONAL GUARD is awesome. I've been with these guys and gals on a couple different details. The mobs don't hate them like they do us, so we generally have them up front as the line in the sand. They understand it and are good with it. We are right behind them generally with a ton of fun toys at the ready.

Comedy moment of the week was a BLM Turd spouting hate for about three hours to a very large mob. Close to the end of his BS speech he started telling the crowd about their next move and then asked them repeatedly not to start shit with our group. His request was something along the lines of; These guys are ready to fuck our shit up, so please don't do anything stupid. 😂 It was funny to hear, but I can tell you he wasn't even a fraction from the truth. We walk in ready for an extended fight plus what we generally have at the ready out of site. They are pushing the envelope in what is allowed, and just about everyone I know hopes they are in the right spot the moment these clowns push it too far.

Weird perspective for sure. These clowns are trying to intimidate us with signs and words, when we are literally the guys that run or drive as fast as we can towards gun shots and other violent acts on the regular. Another shocking thing I have seen is people bringing their small kids to very large and openly known BLM protests. We have to consider the possibility of hurting one of these kids with ever decision which has saved many of these little fuck sticks from eating chemicals and rubber pellets.

These are not random protests. They are well funded and organized. Follow the money and we all know it's not going back to the Trump side of this nation. PAY FUCKING ATTENTION AMERICA!

You and your coworkers are F'n saints...I'd have blown a gasket many times over.

Sadly, the kids are brought for the very reason you cited. It makes you all have to second guess...it's bullshit. Instead of shielding their children from the chance of harm, they use them to shield themselves.

You guys...you be careful out there. Do your job, maintain your professionalism, and get home at the end of the shift. This is not over and it won't be over until the election. If President Trump is re-elected it will increase in intensity, as the goal here is nothing short of than dismantling of the United States. So be careful, be aware, watch yer ass and take care of each other. I had a 1000 word rant ready to go, but will leave it at this.

Several of our Cops followed home and attempt
Vandalisms on their cars. All LAPD advised to hide any and all LE pics or references on social media as organized attacks being planned per intel units.

Fuck that, I live on my feet. Family knows to get down when I say So for the worst.
People talk about the “talk” some of color have about being contacted by LE. Cop’s kids get “the talk” about not saying what their parent’s do for work and where to sit in restaurants.
I’ll never hide, but head is on a swivel more now than the 92’ riots off duty.
Stay alert

fmo24 thanks. I had a long winded rant about my opinion on the make up and motivation of these groups of "protesters" and how they have been pulled together, and how many are being manipulated like pawns on a chess board.. but I let it evaporate.
I don't think it changes anything.
LowRiver this new piece of info from you is the crap I was praying wouldn't come to pass but was fearing it would.
I hear you loud and clear in your response.
Like I said...cover your ass.
This pot is going to be continually stirred from now til election day, and if we manage to get an election that isn't full of voting fraud and President Trump wins re-election this thing is gonna get kicked up even further. The anarchists and Soros and his folks see this is the best chance they have ever had to destroy the country, and they are well organized and well funded and don't care who dies to get us there.
Just cover your ass, you and your brothers down there are in my thoughts and prayers every day. My BIL's , who is LASD, has his wife pushing hard to get him to pull the pin now, and take the retirement he can get, leaving a fair chunk of change on the table, but he is loyal and loves the work, and sees the good that he does as critical to keeping people safe.
I don't think he will leave. Not now, that is for damn sure. I wouldn't either.

Yes it is organized to a level not seen in the past.
We have many arrestees from San Francisco, they didn’t just decide to visit LA amid Covid lol.

Just want to say not all of the things that disgusted me this week were from protesters.
Unlike here off duty, I never show any action or wear any item on duty that political or in regards to any “movement” We represent the Police Department , and to Protect and Serve, period.

I only know the Lieutenant pictured. She had multiple complaints from retired and current Cops for doing this and rumor is she told Officers in her unit (Recruitment), that not taking a knee would not help them get promoted.
We’ll see where that goes, probably nowhere. Rest assured I won’t forget the faces from my Department. Chiefs of Police are political figures and are the only ones I can give a pass , even if I despise it. Everyone else below the Chief needs to follow policy which these actions violate.

I’m seeing this and it’s so disgusting. If they want to take a knee take your uniform off and protest on the other side of the line. Maybe they should look at themselves in the mirror knowing all the officers that have been seriously hurt and killed during all this bullshit. Fuck them. So glad I’m retired from LAPD. Hang in there for all the men and women of law enforcement who have been working so hard, and treated like shit for the past week.

Kneel before the Cross, stand for the Flag.

How in the hell can one kneel alongside a person with a red X crossing out LAPD while also wearing a uniform?

My BIL and I don't always get along. Known him for near 30 years...like a brother, you may not always see eye to eye. I am worried about him though, as I am others I know in your boots so to speak. Most members of LE went in to protect and serve. They did not join to fight a war. This current situation is much closer to a militant action than an average crime spree. With what happened up north last night, I fear there will be an escalation in violence and actions.

Minds have been corrupted by the promise of power. Greed is a driving force for these folk. If, and I feel it is, this is an organized event, it will get much worse before it gets better. If members of LE are kneeling already, who do you trust? My job is to protect my family, first and foremost. We, in my household, share the same views and morals. When in the situation of LE, or a military unit, those at your shoulder are your family as well. If you will risk your life for their safety, will they also for you?

I would think all the sporting venues and music venues would need support. Downtown LA is a busy place

400-600 calls a year: 19Techs, 6 Supervisors (also techs)

LAX TSA pays for 6 of the spots. We have to field 6 techs a day 365 a year at LAX.

We work 4/10’,s, add in IOD surgeries, mandatory 2-4 week classes all over the country, and the fact it takes two years to get a Tech certified to handle calls and four years for them to be able to handle pretty much all EOD tasks, and you get to that size.
We have some imbedded in other EOD units that take away from daily deployments.
The FBI controls who has Bomb Squads and will not allow the airport PD to have their own squad.

LASD has about same number .

City is 465 square miles, we handle all land and water borne threats.

We recover 40-60 grenades a year, about 50% are live. About 10k lbs of fireworks a year, which is a drop in the bucket.

A wise man once said to judge a person on the content of their character...
I learned some time back, trust and faith in another human being is not something to be given or taken lightly. The title, or in your case uniform or rank, one has placed upon them does not change who or what they are. At times, sadly, people think titles can improve them. You've been in the business long enough to have seen it at different levels with different people.

Most the grenades recovered from when Pendleton used to get robbed all the time 20'ish years ago?

When I was in my late teens.. I met a guy that had a rocket launcher / grenades and all kinds of crazy shit at his house up in Anaheim. He bought it all pretty reasonable from someone that had connection to robbing the armory at Pendleton.

There is a lot of military ordnance out there.
From spotting charged drop training bombs, to grenades to 40mm rounds
If you come across a 40mm round with a “golden ogive( bullet portion), never pick it up. It has a time delay that you can’t know when it will go off when moved except by Xray
Lot of people have bee n killed by those.
Also WWII Japanese grenades with pic ric acids.
We still get those couple times a year

Appreciate the info in this thread.

It seems the plan is to muffle the damage and hppe things die down over a couple weeks. The optics of being too tough and busting head will just backfire and feed into the protesters narrative. Especially if the actions are caught on camera.

Watching the gleeful looters run out of the shoe stores with arms full of reparations is not helping the BLM's cause.

This data comes from accurate & factual LAPD data. Please feel free to share. I am copying from a friend:

As the national debate continues to focus on police use of force or more specifically the use of excessive force. I thought I would share with you some critically important data.

I could not be more proud of the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department.

2019 Los Angeles Police Department:

• Hispanic 49.15 %
• White 30.40 %
• Black 9.5 %
• Asian 7.75 %

• Indian 2.46 %
• Other 0.33 %

Use of Force:

• 1,692,351 public contacts.
• 82,288 arrests (5% of public contacts)
• 2,373 uses of force (0.14 % of public contacts).

• 6 of the suspect were armed with a knife.
• 1 off duty perception shooting- no gun found.
• Most if not all of these inicidents are captured on body worn video or the officers in car video.
• The law mandates the Department releases categorical use of force videos. The Dept. creates critical incident video’s and post them on YouTube to ensure transparency.

Race of the suspect:

• 15 Hispanic suspects shot.

• 2 White suspects shot.
• 1 Other suspect shot.

Race of the officer who shot:

• 6 % White
• 1 % Other
• 26 % unk

Respectful honest dialogue is critical for everyone. Please stay informed.

Good data and I’m sure it is accurate. I have one question, what is the definition of public contact? The use of force percentage may be better represented as a function of arrests. Still below 3% and a remarkably good number given what LEOs deal with daily.

In short:

Anything beyond a citizen asking a question,
Or is asking a general question to a citizen .

God bless all of you LE that are out there enforcing the law in these screwed up times. I'm sure it seems like a thankless job sometimes but most including myself appreciate what you do day in and day out. Regarding all the restrictions that are coming down, I don't understand how you are still expected to do your job. Seems that in addition to enforcing the law, you still have to preserve yourself, and with the restrictions, it seems that maybe it is putting the LE more at risk. Are their some that will just say SCREW IT, it is no longer woth the risk to me, personally? Just curious how you see it. Thanks again for all you guys do!
