There isnt a person on this website that knew the man well enough personally to pass judgment on what happened in his personal life!! All anyone knows is what the media released and all around hearsay.. so to judge without knowing is asinine and just makes the people doing the judging look dumb.. JMO

I actually know a few rape victims and there is no way in hell they would have let the man walk for a check of any amount. That bullshit was about $ and was from the beginning!! Again this is JMO
I know a couple that never reported it and even 10+ years later dont say a word about it. Then again i knew one women ( rip)that at 14 was attack by at least 5 men. She spent the rest of her life helping victims. She died of advanced aids that she got from the attack.

People handle thing diffrently.

Huh??
He admitted it publicly, but said it was consensual, made public apologies ad nauseam with his wife by his side.
The $2.5 million he cashed the 19 year old out with was a drop in the bucket compared to the price he paid at home.
That’s the only good thing I can say about that...he didn’t deny it and ponied up and saved his marriage.
The reason I feel so much worse for the other passengers, especially the kids, is simple...
They trusted him and died.

Careful my friend...
It's to the point where anyone who doesn't kneel in reverence becomes subject to being called...
Loser
Douchebag
Racist.
Having,
Their ancestry questioned
etc.

...it's crazy.

RIGHT!! And I can guarantee not a single one of those ladies you speak of would have said "write me a check and I'll forget about it" nor would they have ever excepted any $ from the offender!! Not reporting and excepting monetary payoff are to complete different relms!!

I'm not here to pass judgment nor sticking up for anyone. I did not know him, dont know if he was a great dude in "real life" or a complete asshole so it's not my place to say yey or ney. I do know that a hand full of people died(as people do everyday RIP). And some of the comments like(dont take this the wrong way) "they trusted him"(as an example) why would the trust in a passenger matter? shouldn't that trust have been in the person actually flying the helicopter?

None of them were raped by people that had millions. One did sue the school it happened at and won enough to buy a house, but never confronted her attacker. She was to scared of him

Guilty until proven innocent right? The DA dropped the charges.

Most people don't understand false accusations until it happens to a friend or family member. Some even falsely accuse with no money to win. I'm not saying he did or didn't do it. I'm just saying money doesn't make the DA drop charges, a lack of evidence/credible testimony does.

Her name came out and next thing you know she is getting death threats and his lawyers attacked her. Only 2 people know what really happened that night. I can see how a no name 19 year old who's parents got to hear all this negative crap about her decided she was not going to be humiliated anymore at a trial that everyone will be watching. She decided not to testify, charges dropped, especially considering it is likely he said, she said. She files civil suit, he decides to not go there and settles out of court, buys wife a 4 million dollar ring and year later a huge new contract...He can still very well be "guilty" of rape. Just not convicted. Those that make false accusations should be held accountable, they're criminals also...Many victims stay quiet as they are ashamed, don't think they will be believed. Cosby victims perhaps examples here...

So your telling me she sued the school but never pressed charges against the accused?? That make no sence. And how is the school held accountable if there was no charges? That's why this world is in the fukt up place it is now.

Long story short she was one of about a dozen or so young girls that was rape by him. The school knew and did nothing. This was a boarding school. It was a sad deal, and messed her up real bad. She went from abusive realtionship to abusive relationship. Got into drugs, actively destroyed her life. I had to back away. Its beeen about 8 years since i have spoke to her.

Your view requires a lot of assumptions. If you make enough assumptions, anything “could” be true.

I stated that the DA dropped the charges. That’s a fact. It doesn’t prove it one way or the other. Just makes it less likely to be a rape.

Didn't the girls panties have like 3 different traces of semen?

If my daughter really got raped I could careless who he is you would think the evidence would provide a clear conviction and jail time and you could follow up with the civil case later.

Now if the case is a he said she said with no evidence pointing at rape of course settling is the best way to go for all parties. He was a dummy for putting himself in that position and hurting his marriage and 1.5 million would be a bargain for the image.

Personally I don't think he did it. Cheated of course all of them except for Doug Christie do that.

Lots of assumptions T....The DA dropped the charges cause he did not have a case without her testimony (he said / she said). If the case was more compelling than that he would have taken it trial IF he had the evidence without her testimony. The 4M ring was for the cheating which cheating is not uncommon for regular folks too. He just got caught on that part. He also learned how to play the piano after that so he could play a song a for his wife trying make up for his misgivings. If he was Cosby or similar don't you think there would be a trend of this behavior....no there is not a trend. Again he was 24/25 at the time and cheated. Beyond that I don't it based on the track records of both.

"Bryant's defense lawyer Pamela Mackey asserted that the accuser was taking an anti-psychotic drug for the treatment of schizophrenia at the time of the incident. Lindsey McKinney, who lived with the accuser, said the woman twice tried to kill herself at school by overdosing on sleeping pills. Before the alleged incident, the accuser, an aspiring singer, tried out for the television show American Idol with the song "Forgive" by Rebecca Lynn Howard, but failed to advance.[17] In addition to the woman's moral character and reputation being challenged by Bryant's defense lawyer, she received death threats and hate mail[18] and her identity was leaked multiple times.[19]

On September 1, 2004, Eagle County District Judge Terry Ruckriegle dismissed the charges against Bryant, after prosecutors spent more than $200,000 preparing for trial, because his accuser informed them that she was unwilling to testify.[20]"

I was not comparing Bryant to Cosby, just using the delay in the victims coming forward as example that they don't always rush to call out the suspect.

200K....that's like 500hrs based on attorney rates; you figure that is spread across multiple folks in the DA's office, police work, and interviews they literally did not spend that much time at all. Such a high profile case you would have thought it would have been more which says they did not have much of case to pursue and the only chance they had was if she testified and if she was believable. Judged looked at the DA's case and dropped it.

Back to the Cosby thing....normally folks who assault women repeat that behavior. Look at all the Me-Too's...Charlie Rose, Weinstein, Roger Ale's, Cosby, ect... These are folks that have something wrong inside them that causes them to do this over and over. Maybe a stampede of women will come out but that has not happened and with the ME-Too movement you would think that would have opened the door. Seems like this one was a money grab.

This is most lukely what went down, but he was MARRIED at the time. Which in my mind makes him a pos. Not too mention the rock he bought his wife created the saying "kobe" which later ob tiger woods said to an arresting officer after a dui.

The real question is why didnt his then wife leave him. If i was a betting man prenup.
You certainly make yourself into a godlike figure above transgressions of any sort it seems. One helluva lot of married couples have glitches and are unfaithful in weak moments. Yet their bond is strong and forgiveness given.

Alone out of town. Hot young thing comes on strong. Many a man has taken the forbidden bite. Kobe never signed up as a saint and he strayed.

When you can honestly say you have no sins and are above the rest of humanity, by all means judge the rest of us......Until then, with all due respect, you just come across as a sad and bitter person.

You hate Kobe, Vanessa does not. Do us all a favor and stay the hell out of this thread......Your point and opinion are super clear.

I wonder how many here could pay 2.5 mil to sweep something under the rug right or wrong.
The dude was self made. Graduated and went on to the NBA to make hundreds of millions. He did it on his own.

He built that.

The only issue I have with the guy is he tried to make himself out as a victim while shouting down our current President. Meanwhile the last President was as non-divisive as he was transparent.
That is his 1st amendment right and I have to respect it. I feel for all who have lost but I hope they remember the others that were lost that day and that they respect those who do not feel the same way.

I am no saint, but the one sin i have never done and will never do is adultery.

I think he is a pos for cheating on his wife, but i really could give two shits about him as a person. I have no direct or indirect contact with him

DA dropped case after she stated in writing she would not testify. Probably not a lot of evidence as neither party denied being involved in the act. Question was whether she said no or not. She won't talk, no case. I only brought up Cosby victims as someone stated that victims come forward right away and want justice. Not always the case....

Whats interesting is try to find that woman's name on the internet. Its been wiped clean, its pretty well known that high profile people pay big money to have things cleaned up on the internet, Im sure thats what happened here once the settlement was agreed to.

he took flights 2-3x a week. More prior to retiring from the NBA. Like said before time is money and with that many games played sitting in a car for hours was uncomfortable.

Regardless if he took flights 3x's a week or 7x's a week (for that matter) when your dealt inclement weather you need to improvise. One trip in a limo (for inconvenience sake) out of a hundred safe flights is a pretty good run.

What would be the pilot discretion if it were a thunderstorm instead of fog before takeoff?

Years ago we were on a family vacation in Maui sitting at the heliport waiting for our long awaited (booked months in advance) helo flight. The Fog literally rolled in while we were waiting for our copter to return for our flight. The staff came over to inform us our flight had been cancelled, saddened yes but nevertheless I thanked the staff for looking out for our well being.
We left for home first thing the very next morning. We never did get to take that family flight of a lifetime and felt assured sometimes things just happen for a reason...

I dont know you nor have I ever met you but.. you remind me of some people I have known that no matter the story or information that is told, you have one better just to make yourself sound better. And the people I know that do this I have to look at them and call bullshit. I completely understand you have your own opinion and experiences but FFS you are no better than the next guy. I have not posted in this thread until today. Matter of fact you made a comment in a post on here that you work as hard and have put as much dedication as Kobe ever has. Well if that was the case you wouldnt have closed your company and went to work for someone else for a paycheck. Step down off your pedestal and come back to reality. I'm not one to ever post anything like this(go ahead and look through my post on here) but fuk man.. reality is a bitch but alot of us deal with it everyday. Let's just be real!!

Matter of fact the last interaction I had with you ended up I was a piece of shit because I smoke weed....ffs

Jesus. Start a thread about the Colorado case for fux sake.

This is like a thread that asks about the lower river and turns into the Indian Casino.

Title of thread is Kobe Bryant. Majority here take it very hard that this collision occurred. It is very sad for all that are involved and their families. This thread became a shrine. Some, including me, brought up serious allegations against him. I was told to suck dick and fuck off. Still talking about guy named in thread. You believe the multi millionaire or don't care, I think the very young victim is believable. We will never know. I personally did not care for Kobe . I was pissed when Shaq left and felt Kobe and management were to blame. I find it interesting he mentions Shaq during his interview with the police and how he just paid women, bought them cars.... Case closed as KEY witness choses not to testify, leaving the facts to never be told in a courtroom. Victim name leaked, smeared, death threats. Was this her own doing? We will never know. They either had consensual sex, or she was assaulted/raped. The END

it was said when taking off from the OC it was clear and ran into weather on the way.

I agree that the pilot should have called the flight off and landed asap. So In the end it will be pilot error.
