I’m surprised VIN not already on this.
Hamas launched over 2,000 rockets into southern Israel. And sent militants in to capture and kill Israelis. The sole purpose of the attack is to kill innocent civilians.
To me it’s another failure of our so called president.

There is a post in the political section.

Major border security areas penetrated, tanks seized. It's hard to believe that their intelligence community completely missed one of the most unprecedented attacks in its history. This is pretty much 50 years to the day after the Yom Kippur war of October 1973.

Given Hamas’ associations with Iran, I wonder if this has anything to do with recent talks of normalizing relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel. This seems to me like Iranian-influenced regional power play to disrupt its two sworn enemies from getting closer.

It’s actually a success for our joe Biden. He gave 6 billion dollars to Iran who funds Hamas. Wakey wakey people.

Thought they had this all settled out when trump was in office?
Just wait, I feel this is going to be one of the biggest FAFO in a while.

I don’t think anything has ever been truly settled, nor could it have been without massive war. But, it did seem things were much calmer when Trump was our President.

Next few days going to be historic. Forget about dipomacy, response from Israel will be brutal. The footage of Israeli soldier physically pulled from his tank will be the creation of Israel response.

There's a political section? Are you sure? Why would this be in the lounge if we have a political section? I think you're making things up.

Nothing will happen. Just for show unfortunately and innocent civilians will pay the price. 😞. These threads come up once a year.
It's like the Crips and the Bloods. 😒

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
The trouble with the maples
And they're quite convinced they're right
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade
There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream "Oppression"
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
"The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light"
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw” ~ Neil P ( circa 1980)

Nothing will happen.

Have you seen the footage?

Since this morning, the State of Israel has been at war. Our first objective is to clear out the hostile forces that infiltrated our territory and restore the security and quiet to the communities that have been attacked.

The second objective, at the same time, is to exact an immense price from the enemy, within the Gaza Strip as well. The third objective is to reinforce other fronts so that nobody should mistakenly join this war.

We are at war. In war, one needs to be level-headed. I call on all citizens of Israel to unite in order to achieve our highest goal – victory in the war.
Netanyahu

Something will happen.

Cue the little Israeli bumper stickers on Teslas and Priuses and Israel flags in the email signatures of the virtue signaling people at work you should avoid if at all possible.

Big difference between Israel and Ukraine is that Israel is far more capable than Ukraine without assistance. Hopefully our tax dollars stay out of this and Israel shows Iran this was a bad idea.

Too late, we’re already funding more than our share. Gonna be interesting to see how this whole thing shakes out in DC. No doubt we’ll send more cash. There’s also a really good chance this splinters the far left/squad from the mainstream swamp.

Of course. We've come to expect that. Let's just hope the aid doesn't get increased due to this incident, although I'm not optimistic.

Can’t imagine the senseless killing in this day and age. Over what? It’s stupid. This or Ukraine. What’s the point? To take over a country of people that don’t want you there?

Hamas will understand very quickly that it has made a mistake - a grave mistake, and will pay a [heavy] price.

Fifteen years ago, as Head of the Southern Command, I came close to 'breaking the neck' [destroying] of Hamas. I was stopped by the political echelon. This phenomenon will not continue. We will change reality on the ground in Gaza for the next 50 years. What was before, will be no more. We will operate at full force.

The gloves are off.

To quote Wes(Froggystyle).
"If the the U.S.ever took the handcuffs off Israel the middle east would be a parking lot within a week".

Me thinks the handcuffs will come off somewhat for this.

Paul -

It's tribalism. Whether religion or race or land, it comes down to hating others in tribes not of your own. We are nearly there. The left hates the right, the right hates the left. There will come a flashpoint where the civility ends. The Palestinians hate the Israelis, period. Nothing will stop this particular war except complete destruction of Iran's war machine.

Its no different all over Africa. There will never be peace, we are essentially a very violent species.

“If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more ‎violence. If the Jews put ‎down their weapons ‎today, there would be no ‎more Israel'‎”

Innocent?

The Palestinians who invaded Israel have focused on kidnapping civilians, mostly young women. This was facilitated by the fact that there was a “rave for peace” going on near Gaza that many young people attended. The Palestinians no doubt knew this, and planned to attack the event. They took a number of young women captive there.

This video has been seen millions of times. There is a naked young woman in the back of a truck, murdered (and God knows what else) by the Palestinians. The Arabs in the truck are yelling “Allahu Akbar!” “God is great!” Terrific religion they’ve got there.

What is notable, I think, is the jubilant reaction of the crowd. Note the boy who spits on the woman’s corpse. The idea that what is happening is a “terrorist attack” by “Hamas” is a fiction.

Hamas is a political entity that rules Gaza with the support of the overwhelming majority of the Palestinians who live there. It is much like Nazi Germany–most Germans were not members of the party, but the vast majority supported Hitler until it was clear that Germany was losing the war. Same thing here, except that until now, it hasn’t been clear that Hamas was losing. Hamas appears to command the loyalty of nearly all of Gaza’s residents.

But these heirs of a collective memory forged in the fires of the 20th century cannot handle the experience of defenselessness Hamas has imposed on them. Hamas seemed to do everything possible to shift Israeli psychology from a comfortable faith in their own strength to a sense of dire vulnerability.

And it will soon learn the scale of that miscalculation. A strong Israel may tolerate a belligerent Hamas on its border; a weaker one cannot. A safe Israel can spend much time and resources worrying about the humanitarian fallout from a Gaza ground war; a more vulnerable Israel cannot.

A wounded, weakened Israel is a fiercer Israel.

Hamas was once a tolerable threat. It just made itself an intolerable one, all while convincing Israelis they are too vulnerable and weak to respond with the old restraint.

They'll claim "disproportionate response"

100%. This all revolves around Saudi Arabia and Israel putting aside their differences and becoming closer allies.

No better way to destroy that than an Iranian supported war and a U.S. media sponsored attack on Israel.

I think the Saudi's are wise enough to see through this one. Iran is the enemy of both Israel and the Saudi's. They need to remove the Ayatollahs from power.

We can all hope so but this administration will do their best to see otherwise.

If the average citizen could pull back the curtain and see just how destructive our government can be it would be all out chaos.

I think the biggest problem for our allies is that our administration changes every 4-8 years We go from highly pro-Israel to pro Iranian (Obama and Biden) we cannot be trusted as an allies.

It’s less about the term length and more about the low information, or single issue voter, in my opinion.

Most people can’t look at themselves in a mirror let alone see the reality that lies ahead for us politically. Hell, it’s too much of a chore to vote for most people.
