I have posted many times about fasting and i think i am on year 4 of doing it monday to fridays ( mainly because i am working), after my first initial year of doing it hard core and cutting off over 60pounds i can easily choose when to eat and go right back to fasting anyday. I feel good, i sleep good, my joints feel better, honestly have plenty of energy!
During the hardcore 20on 4off routine i would have plane black coffee and anytime i felt hunger i would drink bubbly water like ahas and plain lacrox. Its a battle but man so worth it, after i went softer on my schedule i gained back about 10 pounds over the next year but now i have held a consistent weight for over 2 years.

Also my longest fast was 38 hours! Felt amazing actually.

I used this app to track my fasts and to continually read up and have motivated stories. Its free and pretty helpful.

I found my weight creeping up around 35 and by 40 I had to do something.

I started with keto and fasting except 12pm-6pm and zero calorie drinks including no alcohol. I lost 40 pounds in 6 months.

I am now happy with my weight and holding for a few years but I don't want to gain it back. I couldn't stick with keto, I love potatos but unless I am really hungry I don't eat before 10am and I try not to eat or snack after dinner. Still I very rairly consume calories in drinks but I do drink alcohol.

Fasting worked for me.

My daughter's boyfriend does it regularly. The kid is a total stud.

It's definitely not hurting him, and he's been bugging me to do it for ages.

My river bud has lost 36lb so far. I really am feeling better. 👍🏼

Does moving your eating window around make any difference?

I'd like to move mine to later in the day.

No eating or drinking anything but water/coffee from 8PM til at least 11AM the next day everyday, unless there is some type of special occasion which is maybe a few days a month. Easy peasy, I don't even notice it and I've been going on two years now. Never tried or wanted to go longer.

I have heard it argued to not sleep on caleries so it is best to keep the window as early as possible, without going to bed hungry, but anything is better than nothing so do what works for you and what you can stick with.

The best diet, workout, ect is the one with Consistency

If you're doing this .... a keto diet makes it way, way easier. Even if your keto isn't super clean.
I've been eating in about a 6 hr window for 3 or 4 years now. After the first 3 or 4 months I started feeling better and lost about 30 llbs. After 6+ months I felt 10 years younger, reduced snoring and was sleeping about 100x better (and not never needing a nap).
I'll do a 48hr fast about once or twice a month and it's shocking how much better you feel when you get in to it (and it's not that hard).

Just started this past week. Not eating after 6pm is a bitch!!!

First 7 days in the books though. 12:12 right now. I'd like to be (eventually) go two or three days.

Who else is doing this? 🤔
My last meal for the day is between 2pm and 4pm. And cocktails starting at 5.
With a breakfast sandwich or burrito around 8am.
Its slow, it took 4 years to lose 21 lbs.

The two guys i learned everything from said consistency is key and they never moved their window. I never did either. Maybe on special occasion i would start an hour early or an hour late but not completely change it.

I ate from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. That window worked perfect as i dont care for breakfast, lunch i am typically driving or working, and most family meals or special weekend plans tend to be in that window for dinner so i didnt miss out on that.

I definetly ate like crap and just mostly noticed i ate and drank less sugar. Still had burgers, pizza, frys etc, found my self drinking a bit less also.

Man it was tough for me to do start keto with fasting. I got the keto flu twice and it sucked plus i dont like eating clean like that.
I started with a 16/8 then 18/4 and at least 20/4 after that if not more just depending on my work load it was super easy to just go straight fasting and eat away when it was time

Can some explain this to me?
this is just the beginning of trying to fight time. getting older, fatter, trying to recapture their yout.

next thing they find themselves wearing pants that button up to the middle of their chest. yelling at kinds to stay off their lawn. the struggle is real.

Don't over complicate it, just eat less calories than you burn. I'm down 57 pounds 6 months without starving myself or limiting when or what I eat. Obviously some foods are not as good for your health as others. I limit sodium intake and try to be mindful of red meat and fat consumption.

That’s what I naturally do but I drink coffee all day. I’m never hungry until 11 so pretty easy for me. Never had a weight problem

Worked great for me when I followed it. Dropped 14 pounds in about a month and a half without changing anything I was eating, just the times. The key is to find a time inf the afternoon that works best for your activity schedule. I jumped right into 8 hour block of eating, and 16 off. Water, coffee, and beer were allowed in the off hours.

The basics, you limit the time your body is taking in calorie's. I found I was eating very late into my day and ended up going to be on a full stomach most of the time. That generally does not pan out too well for fighting weight gain unless you are already watching what you eat. For me it was an easy way to manage my intake a bit better without really giving up anything that I wanted to eat.

You can make it as complicated as you want, or just keep eating the same stuff, but only within a specific time frame per day.

Time is unfightable. What is 'adjustable' is the overall slope of your decline until the music stops.
I'd rather do what I can to keep the slope of my decline shallow from 60-80+ and let whatever's in the cards happen after this .... rather than have a linear, predictable decline from 60 to whenever the music ends.
It's not that hard to do.

I did a 16 / 8 fast daily for more than a year and did a 72 hour water fast. The 16 hour daily fast is not difficult once your body adjusts to it. The last 12 hours of the 72 hour fast was a bitch for me, but I was pretty sick from the "vaccine" at the time. When fasting your body will cleanse itself of damaged cells (autophagy). This was the main reason I was doing it. Trying to heal my body from the damage done by the "vaccine". I am on a fasting site where people have done 10+ day water fast. Pretty crazy...

If by intermittent fasting you mean once a year? Yes, I do that for 3 days / 72 hours before every Thanksgiving for the Last 30 years or so. It is a personal decision to get closer to God and at the same time help those less fortunate. I find ways to give away the food and pocket dollars I would have spent anyways. Helps to keep me grounded and has taught our children great life lessons. Always go easy on the first meal after going that long.

I've tried it several times and I can't stick with it. I want to, but I can't. Sounds like several of you are motivated. I keep saying, "Gonna do it", but I keep talking myself out of it. My willpower sucks!!!! However, I'm going to try once more thanks to you guys.

It's gonna be tough for you, since you only sleep four hours a night! 😱🤣

I discovered the same thing a few years ago. I heard Rogan talking about it and realized that I quit eating around 11pm and didn't start again until I got to work the next day around 3pm.

🤨 You think? If more sleep is a key to this, I'm already in trouble. I do wish I could sleep more.

Well if you're just starting like me, you want to go 12 hours without eating. So if you're sleeping eight hours, you only have four more hours to go.

Some of these more experience guys are going more than 12 hours without eating.

I'm actually at 14 or so already, but I don't wanna push too soon, too fast.

Stick with it this time. We got this! 👍🏼

How long you been at it? I think my biggest problem is portions. I eat too much at meals. I try to cut down, but I'm right back in a week or two. Need more resolve!!!!

Its best to do with keto/low carb. You want to understand insulin. Insulin controls fat storage and hunger. High carb diets especially processed food cause your insulin go up. When it comes down you get hungry.

There are 3 macro nutrients. Carbs, protien and fats. Carbs and fats are fuel. Protien is the building blocks for muscles and bone .

What you want is to keep carbs below 50 grams per day. If you are overweight you want to keep carbs below 20 grams per day. Protien you want from .75 grams to 1.15 grams per pound of body weight per day and 30+ grams per meal. The remaining calories from fats.

Your body is either burning carbs or fat but not both at the same time. You want to be able to switch between carbs and fat. That happens after 12 hours when eating low carb. You start getting the most benefit around 16 hours. I do a16/8 or 20/4 eating cycle.

I found in the beginning that each successive fast over 24 hours got easier. I did 30 hours, then about 40hours, then 2.5 days and finally 3days.

With fasting and low carb you want to have an electrolyte supplement. I get dr bergs as it has a high amount of potassium. You will also want a vitamin d3 and k2 supplement. D3 is fat soluable so take witb fat.

Recently i visited my son and daughter in law. Got up on Sunday morning. I cooked eggs, bacon and sausage. I think i ate 8 eggs. Ate at 10am. Before leaving that evening everyone wanted pizza so i skipped eating. Monday i went to work which includes lots of walking and lifting. After work i went to the gym and lifted weights. I was not hungry or fatigued. Once you become adapted its easy to do. Finally ate at 4 pm Monday so a 30 hour fast

There are lots of good drs on youtube. I started off watching dr ken berry, dr berg, dr ekberg. You will find many more. Lately i have been watching dr baker, dr chaffee and dr omara.

Btw i am 65 5'9" and 160.

Are you eating low carb. Less than 50 grams a day. Protien 1gram+/- per pound body weight and rest fat. Dont eat lean meats without adding some fat like butter etc. Chicken have the skin and dark meat. Full fat dairy. Etc

As a kid I remember hearing how the poor children weren't getting breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, etc. That's why they have school lunches and free breakfasts.

But NOW the science says fasting is better for you, makes you sharper mentally and is more healthful.

Follow the science they say. The science is often wrong. Now tons of kids are fat.

Not that long ago the industry said eat six small meals. It's better for you to always have some caloric power in the tank. I guess that was wrong?

For me, I need to cut sugar, junk food and alcohol. All the fun stuff.

Doesn't it really just come down to calories in vs calories out? Limiting your eating window likely just means you are getting less calories overall, no?

Read Siddhartha. Now he was hungry.
