Not sure yet if i would advise others to do this yet. But so far so good. Been playing around with fasting for about a year. Have gone as much as 4 days water only but i wouldn't do that very often. Maybe 2-3 times a year max. A normal day for me now is coffee in the morning, multi vitamins with water and a little salt under my tongue for lunch. Fair amount of water. Then a calorie dense dinner (usually based on red meat in tallow or butter lots of salt). I get full fast now. I was up at 265-275 before starting various diets, did keto for 2 years and went to 225. Developed a little more will power and I'm 35, 6'4" 207 lbs now. Strength loss was minimal considering the amount of weight loss. Don't neglect your salt and water. Your mileage may vary.

I started fasting one day a week in February prior to my retirement and when my weight was hitting the high 230’s. When we left for our road trip the end of April I was at 207. Vacation and being on the road is taking some will power.

I do not need to lose weight, however I accidently started doing the fasting. Just kind of got tired of what to eat for breakfast. I have been trying to cut out eating very much bad stuff. Mainly processed stuff. I can't eat chicken or eggs, so breakfast is tough if you don't want processed stuff, so I stopped.

Eat dinner at about six and then eat lunch around noon. The problem is I am losing weight, which I don't need to do. I know a good problem to have and probably piss people off. So I decide to eat bigger meals for lunch and dinner to keep the weight. Well it seams my stomach has shrunk as I can't eat big meal anymore. Just get full so fast.

So I got some Bob's red mill steel cut oatmeal and some blue berry's, raspberry's and bananas to start eating breakfast again. It is pretty good with the fruit, but sucks without. Going to try to balance out the meals to keep a steady weight.

I guess my point of this is that you can lose weight doing the fasting.

I'll just throw out my observations from over the last 25 years.

- Had high BP and overweight about 50 lbs - this was back in 1999 and bought a book called "The Protein Power plan" which I would still highly recommend a read today. The book corrected my eating plan and lost the weight and stabilized my BP. To this day except for a few changes here and there I still eat this way to this day.

- 2017 I developed diverticulitis which led me to adding fiber and L-Glutamine supplement but also fasting. The fasting give your gut times to rest. While I didn't do it for weight loss i did lose weight and just felt better over all. I did 16:8 at the time. The thing about fasting is you need to make sure you get enough protein. Your immune system will thank you too.

- If you fast for long periods of time you body will adapt and no longer will you see the weight loss and may even gain. I talking years at a time. You can change it up and do what is called a zig-zag meal plan - eating more one day then less, maybe fasting the next.

- Don't guess - get a full blood and urine panel with metabolic and hormone indicators this way you are not guessing and you may find you are lacking in something you are missing.

- Fasting works great, but you also need to find the amount of calories you need to either keep the weight or lose the the way. A lot of research has come out showing skipping the morning feeding is not the best. Currently I do not force a fast so much as I tapper off eating later in the day.

- I still fight this, but try to stay away from processed foods, even the bagged salad is not the best apparently.

- Use strength training over cardio especially as you get older

- Use protein leveraging in your food choices -min protein I try to stay at is 1.7g/ 1kg of body weight - this help stay full, increase metabolism, keeps lean body mass - important for older people. Protein first then fat then carbs.

- Did I say full blood and urine panel -

I do take a few supplements which can vary depending on your health goals, but this is an entirely different thread.

Good luck and health to all...

The wife and I did the 72 hour water fast at the beginning of March to kickoff weight loss. Honestly, it was a bit easier than I thought and we both felt great at the end of it. We plan on doing it once every quarter to get a good "reset".

We both keto it now, but we have a good cheat day every weekend to keep our sanity. I'm down a little over 20lbs. and shes down about 5. She really doesn't need to lose anymore. Another 25lbs. to go for me and I'll be super happy.

I think maybe Some of you are missing the point about fasting?

You don't have to change What you eat, just When you eat!

I made a batch of oatmeal cookies the other day. They had both brown sugar And regular sugar, plus dried cranberries added to them.

I ate two, and a glass of milk, for dessert the other day, and I'm Still loosing weight! 🤣

I love this diet. 😁

I was doing good yesterday. Finished my last meal around 5 PM. But then I found the remaining half of my daughters breakfast burrito from Kosmos sitting on the counter so I had a snack at 8:30. That’s probably why I could bench press 365 this morning.
