Good to know. I shoot over heading from the channel to the riviera all the time. So for instance are you supposed to u turn everywhere then? Pass 3 dunes u turn at cat tail? Lol

I like to U turn at the end of the lake and then come all the way back up to enter on the right at Cattail, 3 Dunes, Steamboat cove etc.... just to make sure I dont get no tickets. I'm wondering if I missed the sign in the middle of the lake that tells me that. 😁

All I know is we all better abide by it cause if we don’t. I can see the 5mph zone from riviera to copper canyon coming.

Well he could have aggressively made the dash to the Marina in front of on coming boats and they cop decided it was a violation of the right of way. Just guessing but that’s a pretty busy stretch they don’t want people coming across the lake at any angle they choose and claiming left turn, so go down and turn back up.

Speculating but possible.

Noticed how full the Riviera was yesterday when going river. Then when coming back in the early afternoonup to Thompson Bay. A boat shoots out of the marina and goes south. He just keeps going hugging the shoreline on his way south. Luckily it is wide but I expressed to our son that he needs to be mindful of this new obstruction or situation you might find yourself in. Stay safe out there everyone!!!!

The only thing i can think of is staying right of all oncoming traffic. For instance running downstream in parker along the AZ shoreline would be a violation.

Same thing for anyone that boats in Arrowhead, counter clockwise traffic only, if you want to go somewhere that would make you do a clockwise direction you gotta boat out to the middle of the lake then turn and enter your destination perpendicular to shore or from the counter clockwise direction. You can only travel clockwise when idling. Now it's a private lake with licenses so a little different animal from havasu.

Despite the popular narrative……….. There is no such thing as “right of way” in boating.

The correct definition is the boat to Starboard is the “stand on” vessel. The boat to their port is the “give way” vessel.

This is probably what they’re ramping up to do

Way I would understand it is he was heading down river on the wrong side and that could have put him head on with a boat coming out of marina
Same should go for boats coming out of marina and they would have to turn right to go up river first and do a U turn if they wanted to go down river
Silly if you ask me

Sounds like the dude is blowing it out of proportion and leaving info/context out. My guess would also be he got snippy with the cops or cut people off to get to the marina.

Lakes have been counter clockwise for as long as anyone on Havasu has been boating. Pretty straight forward. Pass your destination by a reasonable amount, make a safe u-turn and proceed to destination on your right side.

“U turn at copper canyon” is most likely an exaggeration, cop most likely pointed or stated “towards copper canyon” as a point of reference. A little common sense here would go a long way.

Based on the original FB posters lack of response and unwillingness to post the ticket, he knows he is in the wrong.

Sounds like boaters licenses might be a good idea after all.

Disappointing as it would seem that this Face Booker, Chris Taylor, is not a RDP forum member else we could perform a proper interrogation.

Only then might we know if this is yet another government sanctioned conspiracy and Mr Taylor should be treated to a RDP group hug, or is a moron and would justifiably be subjected to a dose of RDP internet ridicule.

Every time I am in Havasu there are boaters going the wrong way in traffic.. move to the right!! I know that this is a left turn situation but you can’t turn in front of another boat.. happens every time I am at the lake.. when going south stay in California! North stay in Arizona! I wish this was actually posted at the launch ramps. Keep right of oncoming traffic..

Eat a fat bag of Dicks!

Targeting boaters by writing tickets is not educational!

I must have missed the "no turn sign". But its ok to tow tube in erratic directions, make a u turn to pick up a fallen skier of a wake surfer?

Noted, see you in court in "two weeks", Sir.

Policing shifted from safety to revenue generation a long time ago…this has nothing to do with Safety and we all know it.

Damned if they write tickets, damned if they don't. Since none of us were there we have no idea exactly what occurred, maybe he cut off another boat. Maybe the cop was going to just educate him and the guy was a jerk, who knows.
Good for the cop, write more tickets!

This could be possible, however... he is a long time experienced boater and OG member here... I trust what he has posted on his fb to be truthful. I am confident that if he had made a mistake, he would have owned it.

I also interpret his fb post to be a warning for us.

Chris has been on boating forums for years and a good guy has plenty of boating experience too.

Don't be too quik to judge. He is a member here and his time on the lake goes well beyond RDP.

Should we be concerned when making a left turn into the Moabi channel to visit Pirates? Thousands of tickets every weekend right there! Just sayin... should we drive to Laughlin to turn around?

If you enter perpendicular you are ok, it's veering to the left hand shore and traveling along it. Basically you have to be 90 degrees or greater to favor the anti-clockwise flow of traffic.

This being said, it's "Officer discretion" as to what he thinks you did, without evidence, so leave your gps plotter on 🤣

Another example of someone not taking responsibility for their actions and instead blasting social media with a BS story. Seems about right in todays environment lol

Chris (RRX), has been around boat and jet skis for a very long time.

My read is he wanted to educated those. That AZ law is very unknown and I am shocked they are writing tickets for it.

That means everyone heading south and enters the he Islander is breaking the law (never written). And everyone heading south and going into Windsor is also breaking that law.

Is something missing? I don’t see a Chris Taylor on the RDP roster of inmates. Is Chris (RRX) on RDP the FB poster? A left turn doesn’t seem illegal, as long as you yielded to the traffic now approaching from your stbd and didn’t cut in front of vessels which were previously behind you, when you turned to the left.

I wonder if they will be writing tickets for the mass exodus on Fourth of July after the fireworks? 🤔
