I wish you the absolute best of luck. Your health is so much more important.
Robert is a bad smoker. He doesn’t drink- but his smoking is bad. He actually was able to hide smoking from me for 4 months when we started to date and that included a trip. And, I thought I could detect the smell pretty good, but he said he would just go the weekend without it. Once I found it, it seemed like he could smoke all day. If he’s outside, he can just chain smoke. Sometimes I grab his pack to get him back inside or I’ll choose not to enjoy our fire pit and suggest a movie because he will just smoke if we are outside. I would absolutely say our worst fights are about this. I told him I have gone through enough caretaking and stress in my life and I do not want to hear the news he has lung cancer. Nothing seems to work to get him to stop. I honestly want to finance something expensive like a nicer RV, just to make us financially tight enough that maybe he might stop. I know that’s not the way, but sometimes I think it could be. It’s a $500 a month habit. He’s suppose to quit by May- my birthday. I truly hope he does. He’s stubborn enough that when he wants to quit, I think he can do it cold turkey. I might suggest the breathsavers trick or toothpicks like some of you have said.
I hope everyone in here wanting to quit is successful. When I do my infusions- I see and have heard so many stories of the smokers and their regrets.
