Wrapping up a great couple of days in Monterrey. Perfect weather, great company, happy wife and raised a ton of money for City of Hope. 32nd year of doing fundraisers with COH.

Thats bad ass!!!!. I played Del monte a couple months back, super fun course. I was so confused on the first hole when I went to use my range finder and it kept saying 4 yards. My cousin just laughed at me, the dam fog stops the reading.

Lol i did the same thing, I told him my POS range finder wasn't working, and he was smirking saying thats weird and then by the 2nd time he was just laughing and finally told me why, he had the garmin watch so he was cheating. Then I made him my distance bitch until the turn when it cleared up enough.

Any thoughts on where to golf in Henderson? Vegas is an option but prefer to stay closer to bullhead next weekend as Laughlin ranch is closed for seeding.

Revere Golf Club is very nice.

Rio Secco Golf Club, got so humbled by that course but I really enjoyed it.

Played Prado with a 5 club challenge 5,8,p,g and putter shot an 81 . Had only about 2 to 3 holes where it became a challenge not having the right club. That was fun actually

Played las Posas country club today and kept the streak alive! It was a 4 man scramble but we only had three players our 4th had an injury so just came along for a couple putts. Still with just three managed to card a 12 under 59 it’s a par 71. Good enough for 1st place again!

I didn’t even hit driver today because two of the guys in the team even with a bad drive put it out there 320 or more and I’m still nursing an elbow problem.

Course was a in great shape and really tight!

Bad drives are 320?
Damn, I am stoked when I hit 275 and keep it in my fairway!

2 triples, 2 birdies, 2 lost balls. Fun round w my regular playing partner. He's retiring next Friday and headed to northern Nevada.
I need to find a new regular ASAP!

Played a couple times this week. 1 random round when the range was closed on a short par 65 course, windy as hell and punched greens. Holy shit never played so well, irons were dead on, played the wind perfect the few drives I could hit were perfect. Hit maybe 2 bad shots, misses a few puts because of the punched greens. Ended up 5 over. 1 over on the front, 4 on the back, it for real windy on the back.

Then I had a work tournament at Coyote hills in Fullerton yesterday and of course the magic was gone lol, never played there and it's a hard tract. Shot on 83 with a few penalties, I did pitch in from about 40 yards on one hole.

Then tajeras creek tomorrow for a buddies Birthday. Will see how it goes.

Haven’t played since Feb due to 3 fractured and separated ribs. No better place to play the first game back than Pelican Hill, lol! Got my ass kicked, shot 100.

That’s a pretty forgiving course. Resort courses always are. I’ve never had a bad day playing there regardless of my score. Which course did you play?

Carded an 83 a Tijeras creek in rancho Santa Margarita. Hard tract. A few lateral penalties. And 4 blown birdes with in 10 ish feet.

Honestly the course is not in great shape. Lots of dead spots and terrible greens and tee boxes. For $200 a round was pretty bad.

Nice round. The front 9 reminds me of Tustin Ranch. Back 9 is a little tricky. Fun course

I did not play well on the front that's where the penalties came in. Shot 8 over on the front and 3 on back.

4, 5 and 7 are tough. Short par 4 with water and the par 3’a with water. It’ll blow up a score quick.

Think they still over seed so probably why you feel that way about conditions.

They cart dude said oversees in 1 or 2 weeks, so I can understand a bit of poor conditions but at least roll the greens for that price..

The fairway on 6 is tricky. The green is worse. We play it in a work scramble every year. That green is a SOB, especially if the pin is back.
3 over on the back is really good. The fairways are really tricky 11 thru 17. A lot of tough shots.

The canyon got me a couple times, I over swing at least twice trying to make up of for shit and it back fired.

I think the back was harder then the front but I started to hit my driver well on the back and dropped a couple close irons just generally stayed away from trouble.

Birdie on 18 in front of a big tournament crowd. Dropped my 7 iron about 4' from 170 and sank the put finally. I don't birdie often so seeing two drop was cool but missing 4 others that I could make sucked.

Just got back from 5 days in St. George...7 rounds in 5 days.

Day 1: Ledges x2 - My favorite course of the week. From the clubhouse to the condition it was a 10/10.
Day 2: Copper Rock - Course was in decent shape. Somewhat of a "gimmicky" course.
Day 3: Sand Hollow x2 - Complete let down. Terrible condition for $175/round. This has become an instagram course and takes 5++ hours to play. We waited 30 minutes on the first par 3.
Day 4: Coral Canyon - No complaints. Good course in good condition.
Day 5: Sky Mountain - Loved the layout. Clubhouse and food was so-so, but overall a great experience.

Finished day 5 with a 77 (NET 65) and took 3rd overall for the week...Best I've scored in a while. If you haven't made the trip, I recommend doing so. There is no nightlife in St. George, or any sign of life for that matter, but it was a blast.

Was this a package deal?
The price did not incl. Sand Hollow. That was an additional $175. I won't play there again.

I was invited to a group that goes yearly. They setup everything...Tee times, hotel, dinners, betting, etc. We did a couple replays which added a small bit to the cost.

Any way to get the info on how the package was set up or maybe someone just did all the leg work on their own.

So do you guys shooting decent scores sneak up on being better or did you just find something one day and started playing lights out?

Not that I'm great by any means. But I've been playing since a was kid. Was on the school team but always 5th or 6th guy so never got much instruction. Pops loves baseball hates golf so never got much help there.

I've never stopped playing but I didn't practice or play enough. I was a low to uppers 90s golfer. So up until last year I didn't put in the effort or money. Wanted to improve. Took lessons, practiced a lot a spent money on new gear. I plateaued a few months back and started grinding again and I'm seeing the results now. Sitting 8 to 9 index, low to mid 80s most days. I find it easy to score mid 80s now when a few ago I would have felt like I was playing the best that I even could. now I try to manage penalties more than anything.

I just wish I put in the effort back in highschool.

So I would say I snuck up on it, had to practice a ton and literally buy my way into a lower index via equipment and lessons lol.

Thanks for info YEAHYEAH, went to hit some balls today at range, golf instructor from another spot was there warming up with kid who is starter at my local course, just chatting it up he was asking if I use instructor and I said once so far, I asked what he was shooting and he said he was a 25+ but is a 4.5 currently, big kid just mashing the ball. I guess I just need to put in more time with some more instruction, nothing but dollars lol

For sure. It's not a cheap game. I went to golf tec for my lessons, I really like the tech they were using and for sure put me on the right tract. The instructed was good but it seems like he just tried to mold my swing to look like a pros, thats not happening lol. I have improved on my own, even with some help of some RDP after posting my swing. We dont have a lot of instructor options in my area, so thats I went to golf tec thats about an hour away. I did finally talk with one that is local and works at the course I practice on. I may go to him if I feel it's needed soon. Practicing is great but if your practicing the wrong thing it does more harm then good. Dial in your putting and green side chipping, you can really lower score around the green.

Define decent. I was averaging about 100 a round and like @YeahYeah01 bought a lesson pack at GolfTec and bought a whole new bag at the end of those lesson. Lessons helped get the fundamentals but during that time my score didn't improve much. It wasn't until I found what worked for me (layering in the basics learned from lessons) until I saw my score improve which to be honest slowly came down over time but it wasn't until I quit over analyzing my swing on the actual course until I saw the strokes dropping.

I've been shooting in the low 80's as of late but can post a 95 if I try or don't try, why.... nobody knows. Managing penalties and being sharp around and on the putting surface shaves strokes the fastest. Hitting driver 200 versus 280 isn't going to make or break your score if you have a decent swing.

Oh ya, big rounds happen, golf is crazy, I can feel like I am playing like shit and card on 85, then feel like I playing well and card on 88.

Thats kinda what I meant about golf Tec, a ton of analyzing and not really focusing on what I could actually do to improve, it for sure helped though seeing you swing on video with someone showing you why you just hit a slice in real time was great.

I also stopped chasing distance, I was always a fairly long hitter and naturally fast swing but not consistent. I dialed back and focusing on quality swings on contact.
