Sniper - Your mention of "resteraunts" tells me a bunch. Thanks. But, in any case here's a summary of my recent posts on this topic.
1) No one knows, so let's stay home as directed by medical experts
2) If you're visiting LHC support local take out "restaurants "
3) Recent spike in COVID-19 cases doesn't support outside the area visitation

And your not quoting posts when you are called out on your bipolar posts is noted. You tell people not to come stay at home blah blah yet post the restAurants that are serving take out etc and the weekend people should support them ? Then you are back on today preaching “ stay away” Seem a little contradictory ?

Do you realize what happens to this community if you bring that shit here just because you want to go boating. Why don't you go to the Grapevine lakes and play, at least that shit stays in that State!!!

It’s already there. It’s everywhere. Wash your hands, wear a mask, Don’t go near people and don’t touch your face. Bam, you won’t get sick.

If you are still worried, you should barricade yourself in your house for the next few months. It’s not going away.

Yes Einstein, I know it's here and the numbers are up since out of the area boaters started showing up 2 weeks ago. You do realize that if it gets going any worse than it already has, the people of Havasu will shut the Lake down one way or another and it won't be pretty.

For the amount of tourism you’ve had in the last few weeks, the town is actually doing pretty well. It is a virus, you are going to continue to get new cases. There have been 3 deaths in the county, no one seems to be that concerned at this point. Have you heard more from your mayor? He’s not shutting hotels and VRBOs down. Those are what enable tourism.

Shutting the lake down does not fix the problem. It is a tourist town. Shutting the lake down kills what’s left of the towns economy. The mayor can’t shut down a state park to my knowledge, but he is still enabling tourism, so take it up with him if you are that concerned.

You do know that the mayor runs or owns one of the largest hotels in town, so he isn't going to do shit. The people will do it one way or another!!

What was your source of this info? Thanks. 88 cases up from 83 this morning.

I use supervisor Buster Johnson's FB page, He quotes the county releases. I thinking there might be a retirement home involved.

Over the last 3 days 18 new cases, and 1 death, most in Kingman and a couple in Bullhead. Most above 65 and none of the last 18 were in Havasu.

Havasu did have a couple in the beginning of the week.

If God's plan is for you to die from covid hiding in your house isn't going to save you hahaha.

My brother is one of the LA confirmed cases. Has always worked from home, and is a clean freak germaphobe.

He's in is late 40's, and still alive. Had a little cough etc. I guess he has received call after call from the health dept wanting him to tell them everywhere he's been, everything he's touched etc.

So dumb. People with pre-existing health issues are the ones that need to be vigilant. Those same people have to be vigilant no matter what all year round.

One of my good customers that buys a lot from me had it. He contracted it at Conexpo where he and I actually had several meetings.

He is mid 50s and it hit jim hard for about 5 days and he is all good now. He stayed at home, it ran its course and all is good.

Tourists aren't allowed to visit retirement homes, get your facts straight. Tourists don't need to go there to spread this shit. They just need to pump gas in their boat and leave the shit on the handle and then the retirement home worker picks it up from said tourist and takes it to Aunt Mable in the retirement home. Then it spreads through this small community like wildfire all because the tourist wants to use their boat 5 hours away from the tourist's homebase. What part of this don't you understand. Are you the President of the California Justice League of Warrior Boaters??? Going to use them if it kills people or not, why do I give a fuck about people 5 hours away.

Would it still be "Statistically Insignificant" if one of them was your Wife. Mom or Dad?. Wake up!!

Yes, Because you are letting emotion control you over science and facts. I didn’t say it wouldn’t be sad or tragic.

You've got that all wrong, I'm about the least emotional person one would ever meet. I just don't understand how these "tourists" think it's ok to leave their area of residence and possibly take it to a small community that in NO way could help as many people as needed for this problem.

My previous posts were not contradicting. Originally I said CDC requests a Stay Home policy. They still say that. Traveling to Havasu for weekend recreation didn’t and doesn’t fit that narrative. I next suggested for those who were already here, that they support our local restaurants by ordering delivery or take out. Lastly I posted about the recent spike in cases for Mohave County and the possible correlation to the large amount of weekend visitors to Havasu which began prior to Easter. Not bipolar or conflicting.

So this made me wonder, is the need to go boating (at any cost) based on “science and fact”...or would you say it’s based on an emotional decision?
It would be equally an emotional decision. Then I think you have to bring rational into the subject. Is what you are doing by sheltering in place or going boating a rational decision based upon the facts that we currently know about the virus?
I think we know enough about it at this point that the initial numbers were far far inaccurate and that shutdowns were not helpful nor meaningful.

That is emotion. If your wife, Mom or Dad was a victim of a DUI you wouldn’t be advocating for banning unnecessary travel in cars. You’d be advocating people didn’t drink when driving.

As a society if we truly cared about DUI we would simply have a 0 tolerance policy towards it. Instead it is treated as a money grab.

Society and government puts a finite value on human life. Most of the time that value is at the expense of happiness and prosperity of the population. They do it every day in every facet of life. This disease simply was not as terrible as the hype, that is why you have not seen further restrictions. People are still going to die from it until there is a cure. It simply is what it is.

If that is how you feel there is nothing stopping you from barricading yourself in your house for a year for a disease that has about a half percent chance of killing you.

If you are worried about tourists and think the government should be doing a better job of taking care of you, then talk to your government.

I agree the numbers are all over the map.
BUT, if we are going to use “rationale” honesty then we can not dismiss the concerns of a small community with limited immediate health resources in such a cavalier fashion.
I personally am not cowering in fear.
I drove all around town yesterday. I saw the lines of boats with nowhere to launch, at least for part of the day.
I have no one else at home, I don’t have any high risk contacts to jeopardize.
I don’t wear a mask, and I don’t wear gloves.
I have years of PPE training and years of confined space experience.
I know what cross contamination is and other than sneezing and coughing spray particles everything I see people doing is ineffective. I’m not afraid of getting Covid, although I’d prefer not to...and if I do I’m driving to San Diego and licking every piece of produce in every Walmart! Lol
So personally, I don’t care if everyone comes here. One reason I moved here was to see all the insane boats from all over. Simple geography dictates that most are from CA.

But at least just admit that Havasu is your playground and you don’t care if you help or hinder as long as you can launch.
Don’t dress it up in “science”.

Edit: It’s been established that I’m not a real Havasu resident since I moved here just last summer, from CA.
I tried to use that reasoning with my landlord Friday...She still wants the rent.

I’d be very surprised if many sick tourists from So Cal actually wanted to stick around and visit the Havasu Hospital unless they’re absolutely had to. Most view Havasu health care as barely above 3rd world LOL.

Just like the tourist panic buying fears a month ago, the tourist health care fears have not come to fruition either.

Going to San Diego and licking produce, well have at it, if that’s your prerogative.

Havasu is a playground for me as well as many others. I pay taxes here in Havasu. I own a home here in Havasu. I pay my utility bills to enable my usage here. Does that make me more or less justified to visit and use resources? I don’t think so. I don’t think it’s any more than someone who comes here and rents a VRBO or hotel, buys food and gas. The town is based largely upon tourism. The draw is the lake. It’s what has made the town today.

It’s a virus with similar infection rates and fatalities as the flu. We know that. CDC has put those numbers out.

The numbers are far far from comparing it to the Spanish flu that killed 60% of the population in Europe.

Looking at this logically and rationally you should be doing what makes you feel comfortable at this point. If you want to shelter in place. Do it. If you want to go join the crowds somewhere. Do it.

The Scripps hospital network has 14 cases in San Diego county currently. They have shut down and closed entire floors. Laid of 20% of staff. That is not indicative of a widespread killer virus.

Talk to your mayor who is letting them
In by the thousand ALAN. And while most of the populated southwest was under stay at home orders he was letting residents and tourists live it up in restaurants and public places. Your town is still allowing VRBO, AirBNB, vacation rentals and hotel stays. So who is really to blame? You’ve already said you were ashamed of the town’s conduct.

Don’t hate the players, hate the game.

You should refer to it as the Covid conveyor belt going forward.

Well, for them maybe. I haven’t been over there since the kids from Colorado left.
New crowd every few days, pretty sure it’s not being professionally cleaned between occupants.

So you were in Food City a couple months ago and did not see the snowbirds pushing TWO carts and filling it with anything and everything they could buy to take it back home with them leaving our city empty. Damn, I don't know how you missed that.

On the sick tourists, good it leaves beds for locals that would need them. We and many friends have had outstanding care here, from open heart to breaking a finger. If it's SO bad here why do out of State'rs flock here at all times of the year. Remember this particular group of people don't even realize Havasu is here in the winter.

We could go on like this for hours on end and neither side understand the other. Do we continue to waste each other's time???
