The amount of confirmed cases in AZ and Mohave County, in particular, would be more meaningful if those numbers also reflected those who have recovered. They don't. Mohave County Health Dept reports 88 confirmed cases. That number is every single confirmed case in the county since March 25, the day of the very first confirmed case. It's not even reduced when someone dies of the virus. There have been 4 deaths. I believe the actual amount of current confirmed cases would be more meaningful and helpful. Particularly when reopening the economy of the county is considered.

So you were in Food City a couple months ago and did not see the snowbirds pushing TWO carts and filling it with anything and everything they could buy to take it back home with them leaving our city empty. Damn, I don't know how you missed that.

On the sick tourists, good it leaves beds for locals that would need them. We and many friends have had outstanding care here, from open heart to breaking a finger. If it's SO bad here why do out of State'rs flock here at all times of the year. Remember this particular group of people don't even realize Havasu is here in the winter.

We could go on like this for hours on end and neither side understand the other. Do we continue to waste each other's time???

The town is built on tourism, I don’t know what to tell you. Temporary residents buy stuff too, and the panic buying was not limited to temporary residents.

The panic buying was also completely unwarranted. And last time I checked no one starved to death, because every restaurant in town was open and serving customers.

Again, if the local and state government thought there was a problem, they would do something about it, wouldn’t they?

There aren’t any places in the country that are still ratcheting down stay at home regulations. Places are starting to pivot to moving back to normalcy.

If you don’t like it, blame your local government. The tourists are simply playing by YOUR TOWN’s rules.

Its like they are begging for Gavin to lead their lives in AZ :)

Actually, I can’t believe you seriously said that. Gavin has you guys rotating on his cock and you think that’s the answer everywhere?
Lol!
That’s what made me laugh!

I guess i just don’t get the social boating thing. If I see a beach with boats on it, I keep looking. I don’t even stop at our local sandbar very often. If I do, it is because we have first time visitors and we anchor as far away as possible. Lol

Generally speaking, people are overrated.

It was tongue in cheek, but quite honestly it is the truth. If the town is that scared of tourism, why isn’t tourism shut down? Why are the tourists to blame for going to hotels and rentals that are still open in the town? It is the local government that is allowing those business to stay open. Why are boat repair shops still open allowing more boats to get on the water?

You guys are asking, begging, for more of your freedoms to be removed as part of this process. You want government swarming on the town, waterway and desert telling tourists to pack it up and head home? The reality is that nothing more is going to happen unless there is some kind of massive spike with the virus. There are enough business owners that depend on tourism in Havasu to keep open what is still open.

Just like Easter weekend, after today it will be a ghost town again, and the complaints will start anew next Saturday.

My complaining will start tomorrow if the wind picks up.
No wind today but too much traffic for my little potato chip, tomorrow less traffic but probably too much wind.

Maybe this afternoon

Yep! Zero contact necessary. Solo boating, just the two of us.No contact with the launch pass. We even brought our own gas and groceries. And only one stereo on the beach!

Nice! I can’t wait to get back out there and do the same!

Water is pretty mellow on the south end of the lake.

.

The Scripps hospital network has 14 cases in San Diego county currently. They have shut down and closed entire floors. Laid of 20% of staff. That is not indicative of a widespread killer virus.
The hospital my brother works at in National City had only a couple positives so far.

You've got that all wrong, I'm about the least emotional person one would ever meet. I just don't understand how these "tourists" think it's ok to leave their area of residence and possibly take it to a small community that in NO way could help as many people as needed for this problem.
It’s pretty simple really, in the “ME” society nobody gives a shit how about anybody else and they can always leave town and go back to their “good” health care. It’s been stated in several of these threads “if I get sick I’ll just go back home and get treatment there” 🙄

Currently wind 6 with gusts of 14, tomorrow 7 with gusts of 12, hope it holds, we'll probably be out tomorrow.

There's probably more of us that actually have this virus in us than we even know. Just like the flu, you might get the strain in you, but that doesn't mean you are getting sick.
Come boating in the shit show, and leave your money, and we will see you next or the week after that and take it again.

If God's plan is for you to die from covid hiding in your house isn't going to save you hahaha.

My brother is one of the LA confirmed cases. Has always worked from home, and is a clean freak germaphobe.

He's in is late 40's, and still alive. Had a little cough etc. I guess he has received call after call from the health dept wanting him to tell them everywhere he's been, everything he's touched etc.

So dumb. People with pre-existing health issues are the ones that need to be vigilant. Those same people have to be vigilant no matter what all year round.

How did the health dept know he had a little cough ? He developed a little cough, fever, no fever, but decided to have himself tested and now he's a marked man ?
Just curious, since there's a lot of minor illnesses that can result in a little cough and I'm sure folks aren't running in for testing. I know I wouldn't, unless I had a relatively high fever and other symptoms. Of course being retired and my wife working from home, self-isolation 5 days a week is really not so different, mostly we miss getting out and about on weekends.

San Diego Health and Human services is updating their site every weekday. But it's a running total since Feb 14th. The total # of cases, hospitalized cases, intensive care cases, nothing reflects the current vs recovered, except the number of deaths. They also list by zip code, area name, they have it mapped, race, age, on and on, but nothing showing recovered, only accumulated data.

At this point I wish they'd just open up the town again completely. The only people that are suffering right now are the restaurant and business owners. They missed the giant crowds from this weekend.. :(.

Agreed. Could have been a big shot in the arm for hurting businesses. Hopefully things will be different for Memorial Day in a month.

I agree but there is no reason for visitors to hoard food and staples. And yes I have seen many doing it.

I thought the same thing when I saw the crowds this weekend. I do think though that if they open things up in Arizona soon and California remains with this stay at home for an extended time Havasu will be in for a very busy summer and not only weekends think weekdays will be busier then usual also. Hopefully this will help the business make up some of the losses from being closed and hopefully there won’t be a large jump in cases as a result.

I’d love to know where that ranked in gas sales in Havasu history. The parade of boats heading up river was spectacular. Meanwhile, the patio at Mudsharks was empty. There’s plenty of room to spread the tables out and open it up.

Do I win the $100 dollar bet that Deb most likely says the water is cold?
I just got back from the channel. That water is still cold.

I was at Parker Oil this afternoon and a guy told me Campbell Cove was sold out of Ethanol Free 91 octane.

So if everyone has been staying home for the last 5-6 weeks, why are we still supposedly seeing spikes? Mortality rate isn’t the scare tactic anymore, since its not “as advertised,” but they still want to keep people pinned down and scared over “infection spikes”...brilliant! At some point I figure my family, friends and coworkers will get the virus (if we haven’t already). The odds are, according to CDC, that if you contract the virus, but are healthy and not in the “at risk” group, you will likely show little to no symptoms. I like the odds!

edited to say: just realized this topic is about Havasu....my bad!

Since Wednesday that is a 33% increase. 64 cases on Weds, vs 96 today. You try the math. I'd still prefer to see those recovered taken out of the overall running total.

How many of those are real?? New York even took off 300 cases miss diagnosed go keep believing the news that's what they want! People aren't dying so they change to more cases being diagnosed think about it! I know for fact here in NV its leveling off but that Nazi Sisolak is saying different straight out piece of Shit liar!!

La county is doing the same crap. Weekends and mondays numbers always lower then come Tuesday numbers spike and they say it’s cause of backlog or less processing over the weekend. In reality it’s so they can attempt to justify keeping the lockdown on by skewing the numbers. I don’t see how people can continue to argue to keep the lockdown on when la county who has ten million residents has under 1000 deaths and 20000 cases and has been locked down for coming up on 6 weeks.
