Here are 3 rough drafts I created. This is the general route not exact by any means

heres the best video i found. works perfectly. I will also try to have the whole route satellite imaged for when we go....once i get all tht done. Just give me an sd card and ill copy the files on to yours and whoever else and you will have all of Havasu in satellite imagery.

That looks pretty easy I will play around with it this weekend when I go back out.

Let’s get an official list going on who is in! This way we can reserve or a cabin or camp site.

super easy. I have a lot of waypoints logged in from google earth on the lowrance.....You have some time to kill and want to have some tech fun then watch this video.....this is how i have the satellite imagery on my lowrance now. Basically i can see your front door of your house in havasu on my lowrance. Its like having google maps on the lowrance...no navigation lady talking to you tho :)

Is there an official list somewhere? I’ll be riding my enduro and should have a enough fuel capacity to get from havasu to the fuel out there by wayside.

Here is the list I was starting. Once we get a head count we can reserve our overnight spots

We have the entire day this Saturday for a ride in from the Wayside side into the slot canyon as said before. The more I research, the more cool stuff I am finding on the route: other miner cabins, Mines, Hikes etc. It seems like the biggest unknown is rounding the lake and it looks like there are 3 routes depending on river flows and lake levels. Ill know for sure Saturday.

With all the routes tossed out there it would be cool to go one way and back a different way.

LOL If you don't hear from me by Tuesday, well then......

Have you got a lighting kit on it? I'm sporting a 610 Husky and if this ride falls into the right time frame I'd love to do the ride.

Not currently, but I’m about to pull the trigger on a Baja Designs kit.

If your prerunning this weekend share the route. Let’s get a final head count going so we can start coordinating times and finalize plans and routes.

I will call Alamo state park ranger and pick his brain about the best way to come in from havasu.

Where does everyone want to stay?

Alamo lake state park cabins or wayside campground ?

Cabins would be nice, but I’m game for whatever.

This photo shows the Cholla Road campgrounds. They are 10 minutes off road from the Wayside inn. If you look at the small dirt road that enters the campground from the top, that is desert access. Believe it or not, the rangers aren't too keen on non street legal vehicles traveling to the campground where the cabins and the store are. Its about three miles of pavement. They are fine with this campground and off road travel.

Will they enforce? probably not but with a large group and some dirt bikes, just a heads up.

There are showers and full RV hook ups at the campground pictured.

Did a marathon day from Cave Creek to Alamo around the lake to the slot canyons and Cabin and home.

I did locate a route around the lake and I don't believe anyone has yet to post the correct route, but I have it. I can tell you for those coming from Havasu that going to the other side of Alamo (cabins or Wayside RV park) will add a lot to the length of the trip vs an in-out trip to the slot canyon & cabin. However, the trip from the slot canyon (Maggie Wash) to the other side of Alamo (RV Park side) was a blast. You ride in Big Sandy and the water is running, then you exit the running wash into a hole in the thicket the locals call the rabbit hole - its a gnarly tree tunnel that has an entrance in the
water and climbs up out of the wash inside a mesquite and tamarisk tunnel cut in the thicket

While at the Cabin we met a bunch of folks that day tripped it in from Havasu ( started at Shea Rd). Id say there are number of routes that work and would choose a route home that would utilize the the high speed washes and roads because you'll be tired of being in the saddle after the ride out and exploring.

Here are some pics.

For everyone going

We have two options on where to stay overnight ( we want to stay overnight so we have time to explore), anyway the two options are cabins at Alamo state park or wayside rv park and tent camp or if your a baller pre arrange rv ahead of time.

1. Cabins at the state park

65 per night
Two night min on weekends (we only need one night )
2 vehicles per cabin
Can put rv and tents at cabin for an extra few(they have hook ups)
Max occupancy is 4-6 there are only 4 twin beds (no linens, must bring own)

They have fire pit, bbq setup, ac and heat, bathrooms and showers are within walking distance

2. wayside rv and park
Full hook up for rv and trailers
Available tent camping
25$ for rv and 15$ for dry camp
Showers for a small fee

They have a full restaurant and bar

***most important they have gas for the return trip***

Give me a vote on what you want and then I can call and make arrangements for everyone.

*****I would like to make reservations no later than Jan 26th******

I’ve been watching this build up, looks like fun!

What is everybody driving? I know there are a few bikes going, what about jeeps, any body driving their jeep?
I don’t want to be the only jeep and be the slow poke so to speak.

If I’m voting I’d pick Cabin.. lol. Mainly because all the camping shit I have to buy would cost more than the cabin.. if we are camping though, I’d just vote we do it out in the desert somewhere.

2driver came through and provided me with detailed gps files for this ride. We can start at the concrete plant south of havasu

Some items on the list to stop and see

Woodys cabin
Kevin’s cabin
Sluice box (big one)
McGuffey cabin
Ancient petroglyphs
Slot canyon in Maggie’s wash
Walking only slot canyon
Alamo lake
And plenty of views.

And perhaps a mine or two

Depending which way we want to go heading back we may see other cool stuff

The route via gps is roughly 80 miles one way, not accounting for elevation change.

Thanks.
Ive run most of this including out of havasu to mohave, around to lake alamo’s other shore, wayside inn, and the slot canyon and cabin.

That said there are a couple sections ( power line rd) that I have not run. I spoke with others and used other accounts from the jeep club’s specific routes, but take it for what it is.

The routes are solid enough that you can use google earth and scout route options to your liking before you go or pick a different starting/staging point. I have a faster way back if you guys want it.

One thing someone may want to do is route timing. In other-words figure average route speeds and how long you plan to stop to understand what is doable in one day and whether you are on track. The day goes faster than you expect and you want to be at wayside inn or the state park cabins by dark

Last, be sure someone has a gps app that allows for satellite image downloads with good zoom levels so you don’t have to have cell coverage to get satellite views of your route. Topos don’t show nearly as much.

Bought all of it for a tent camping trip to Big Bear for labor day weekend. Used it once and haven't touched it since. Back then we only had 3 kids and the tent was more than enough room for all of us.
