That's a great house!!! Right at the entrance to Lido Bay and very close to fast water. You're going to have a great vacation. Next Friday is the Unleashed poker run. You should look into that, a lot of DLB guys go. Look me up while you're here.

Hambone,
Make SURE u find a way to hang with Highvoltage329 & his beautiful wife. They are INCREDIBLY awesome people. Be very careful if you get invited over for A drink..............

My favorite boating trip ever was a lunch run the day before the big cat poker run one year. About 20 boats left disco bay, stopped at Sam's Cafe for lunch in Tiburon, then under the golden gate bridge, around Alcatraz, then back with a stop to check out the mothball fleet in Suisun Bay on the return. I think it was about 180 miles of boating and a long day but so much fun.

Woke up at 4am in a fog from drinks at dinner, with that, “oh shit! Is my boat ok??!!” Panic!! You all know that feeling. 😂. I was paranoid I was going to be that guy on FB with a picture of the boat sunk at the dock. Luckily, the trusty old Hamlett is floating. We do have a water leak somewhere below the water line. I re sealed the turn fin before I left. But it may be at the transom somewhere. I’m not sure. It’s only about 1/2” of standing water, not even enough for the bilge pump to pick up. It’s strange though. I filled about 5 gallons of water into the bilge with the plug in and saw no water dripping out the bottom. It may be a fitting below the water line. I have two or three pick ups that are capped off plus the swim step holes. But I can’t really see water dripping on the inside. I’ll keep an eye on it and enjoy our week. I replaced the gps antenna too. I think I wired it right? Lol

I’m looking forward to exploring the delta today.

I know that feeling allllll to well, I swear I get up 5-6 times a night to check on my boat when I’m anchored at Pirates Needles. I don’t think I’ve slept well ever there!

I’ve been that same way since I was 12 checking on our family boat. Some things never change.

Years ago I had a little OB Tahiti, and on a camping trip with the boat in a slip. The first time I assumed it was OK and I didnt check it I was met by a couple guys asking me if I had the red and white boat that just sank. Fukd up feeling come down and only seeing the bow out of the water and seat cushions floating around it.

That is what is nice about the Delta. Shitty water, just go around the corner and find glass. Beaches are the same.

The Delta is what I miss since we moved away. Still go from time to time though.

What’s it like boating with the tow boats (I assume they are with you?).

Can you all run the same speed?

I had one friend who had some kind of wake/tow boat and he never wanted to go to the springs or topoc because it took him so long .

Your going to own the delta now that the weekend is over.
If you make it to Rusty Porthole tell Danni or Jackie you know Bob & Tanya. Not that we visit often :)

I have to go slower than normal cruising with my brother in law, he’s in the wakesetter. If I was in a cat it might be hard. We averaged 32-35MPH. In my 21’ v-bottom it was fine and plenty fast considering I don’t know the area.

Out here it’s not that big of a deal with the boat traffic and the water can get big with the big cruisers in the narrow channels. There’s a bunch twists and turns and Intersections where you need to turn left or right and watch for oncoming traffic like the street, Bridges and 5 MPH zones. It’s not like Havasu where it’s wide open water and you can cruise 45-50 mph with plenty of room.

There were stretches where it would have been nice to lay into it, I had the kids with me so I wasn’t going to push it.

It was crowded today! A lot of maneuvering and getting off plan for big ocean type swells a few times.

I’m looking forward to the rest of the week. I’ll get a chance to lay into the throttle solo. 👍

I’ll see how the week takes us and try and make it up to Rusty Porthole . I’ll say hi for you.

the pic you showed that mentioned "Bullfrog Marina" is actually "Tiki Lagoon" pretty sure.

I’ll try and make a big loop this week. Part of me wants to make a run to the golden gate in my vector!

It can be done but EVERYTHING will need to line up perfectly. You would have the best chance if you trailered to Oakland Estuary & launched there.
If you want to try from Disco to Gate, get gas @ Pittsburg marina & make sure you have enough gas to return to Pittsburg. Check tide & wind charts for San Pablo Bay & Pittsburg. Most of the time it will be the roughest between Point Richmond & Pittsburg. If you make it to Gate & headed back to Disco & it gets too rough after you pass Benicia you can cut into Montezuma Slough where the mothball fleet used to be but make certain to follow channel markers on your far left side to enter Montezuma.
Let me know if I can help, have fun

A Spectra group came through, only time in my life people get off plane to pass your beach and then get back going again. Great boating etiquette. 👍 Wimpys was closed, so we are at Walnut Grove for pizza.

I don’t see this happening this weekend. But I’ve always been up for a challenge. I’d love to make the run from Disco to the Gate in my 21. I might have to look into logistics and try and do it some time.

After you started this thread I started looking at campgrounds in the area and I came across that Tower Park. It looks like an awesome place to stay with the family. TONS of stuff to do.
Tower Park is my BIL’s favorite place to camp.
Stopped by B&W today. Nice waterfront houses along the way..

Saw the bar/restaurant that burned down a few weeks ago too.

Not to hijack your trip thread but would love to hear more about staying at Tower Park. We do a big Pirate Cove RV trip with about 10 families and stay on peninsula sites. Could you do the same type of trip here? Slip/launch the boats on site? Beach or anywhere there to hang by/in the water during the day if you’re not boating?

I’m sure there’s lots of you Delta experts that can chime in…maybe I should start a new thread but I already typed this 😂

Moore’s riverboat is the one that burnt down. It was one of the regular stops when we ran with the DLB crowd.

I will ask my BIL… I’m assuming yes to all of the above. I’m a newbie to the Delta program.

I looked on the tower park website and it looks like they have a pretty full marina with slips, ramp, gas dock and all. Then there is the park, mini golf, and tons of other land stuff to do there as well for kids. That was just from their website though so..... hopefully it's anywhere near as nice as it sounds.
