Bootleggers is another one, just was nicer or they did something different with their staff. Every time I've been in there I feel like I'm bugging them to get beer.

My current go to beet is the Rustic IPA, but always trying something new... I easily have 20+ different kinds of beer in my fridge right now. Haha

Big fan of Bootleggers. I've always had good service there. It's pretty bare-bones but I like that too.

Bottle logic is where we went after the Bruery as they close early. Bottle logic is doing it right. Always solid beers from there.
A couple weeks ago I had a client in from Columbus for a trade show. Turns out he likes craft beer so the first night we hit Schmidt's for dinner then Noble, which was packed because there was an Angel's game. Next night we hit the Bruery and Bottle Logic. I bought him an aluminum growler from Bottle Logic as a gift. He was appreciative to say the least!

In my backyard right now...

Tone IPA is the only one of that group we can grab off the shelf here. Stone brews are fairly common in better stores. Spec's is the big supplier for TX and go to for hard to find stuff.

Can you find Pliny in Texas?

I wish. Are you aware of them distributing it here? I've never heard of it being available and it's a topic of conversation by a few folks.

Never had the real deal Alpine before Green Flash bought them out, but this beer is outstanding [emoji481]

Duet and Nelson used to be WAY better. I remember the first time I had Duet at Crowbar in CDM. I think it was 2009. At that time Sculpin had just hit the market and was very hard to find. I thought Pliny The Elder and Sculpin were the best IPA'S on the market UNTIL I had Duet. Back then it was almost impossible to find it without going to the brewery in Alpine.

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of margin in beer when your not operating with large volume and distribution so Alpine partnered with Green Flash to not only increase the brewing capacity, but to get the distribution. It has been wildly successful for them, but the quality of the beer is not like it used to be. I have found that to be the same with a lot of favorites over the years and it is unfortunate but a part of the business.

Good thing is that new breweries are taking over and companies like Modern Times, Noble and Bottle Logic are putting out some amazing stuff right now. Noble is expanding right now so we should start to see more available soon. [emoji2]

It did a few years ago but there are quite a few better beers out there now. I wouldn't waste a ton of time searching for it or going leaps and bounds to find it.

Noble Nose Candy session IPA. This is a FULL bodied IPA that tastes a lot stronger than it is (4.4%).

Pliney is good and the hype is they don't make a lot of it. So makes it hard to get. Not taking anything away from the beer cause if you like Hops there you go. I have a few other favorite IPA's that are easier to get. One is got to be one of my favorite beers and it's made here in Turlock from Dustbowl brewing. It's called therapist soooo so good. And I would also recommend wolf among weeds from golden road comes in a can so you can bring on the water. [emoji570][emoji482]

Anyone tried El Segundo's "Steve Austin's Broken Skull" IPA. Solid IPA.

Yes, and one of the best IPA's out right now. El Segundo is on their game with the IPA's!!! my favorite IPA is Mayberry by them. It smoked Pliny this year. I wasn't impressed this year with Pliny.

Who carries Modern Times? The only one I've had was from Trader Joe's.

Your thinking of "Simpler Times" if it is coming from Trader Joe's. You can find Modern Times at BevMo and most good craft beer markets.

Most don't want money, they'd rather trade for it.

I'm not active on the craft brew forums. That's how my buddy got it. He traded something like 8 Pliny's for two Heady's.

I'll see him tomorrow so I'll ask him if he still has a contact.

If you can get your hands on some Black Tuesday from The Bruery, you can trade that for Heddy Topper all day. Go to Beeradvocate.com and join the forum. Let them know you are in so cal and looking for some Heddy and see what they want for it. I might be able to get some for you........let me check around.

Is it good? Worth the trouble? I've never like the taste of beer but my buddy loves it

I am sure for your buddy, it is probably worth the trouble just so he can say he had it. For me........there are better beers that I would want to trade for if I am dipping into my collection. Sip Of Sunshine is an east coast IPA that is better than Heddy Topper.
