Anybody have any suggestions for a good pale ale or IPA? I wanted to grab a six pack or two of something good on the way home today. I've had most of the big name craft beer brands.

Go by Bev Mo and grab some Modern Times.

Booming Rollers should be out right now, if not grab Fortunate Islands, City of Sun or Lomaland. They come in 4 packs of tall cans.

Yup, Modern Times is doing some great work. If any of your are near Fullerton, Bootleggers is bottling Knuckle Sandwich in 12oz. four-packs. The also have 22oz. of the Far Out IPA in-stock most of the time. It is hit and miss getting some of their stuff in stores.

I love the their Sculpin. I actually had the Pineapple Sculpin on tap last night at the Auld Dubliner in Tustin. I thought it was way better than from a bottle.

I thought it was better on tap. Maybe I just need to pour it into a glass at home.

No, I haven't. The coffee beers tend to scare me off. I don't dislike them but after about half of one, I want a lighter beer.

If you can find some Far Out IPA from Bootleggers, that is one of my favorites. Usually only 22oz bombers though.

So you know the saying "Don't go grocery shopping when you're hungry"? Well I have a new one... Don't go to Bevmo on Friday after a week of work!

I violated both last night. I took everyone's advice and got the three on the left at Bevmo. They had a 10 pack of Modern Times that had 5 different beers in it. I almost got it until I found out it was $27 :yikes Then I met the girlfriend at Costco, got way too much food, and grabbed the two beers on the right.

I had the Far Out IPA and the Toaster Pastry last night. The Far Out was awesome. It was pretty carbonated and not overly hoppy. It was fairly easy drink for an IPA. The Toaster Pastry smelled like the original pop tarts but it wasn't very sweet (I can't stand sweet beer). It was hoppy but still had some of that pop tart flavor. Definitely worth a try.

I don't think this glass goes well with the bottle...

I'm guessing that since you're in Winchester you were eating somewhere in the area? Who has beers like those? BTW, have you been to the Backyard Bottle Shop and Tap Room in Murrieta? Good place with probably 15-20 beers on tap and a bunch of bottles. http://backyardbottleshop.com

We were at Ballast Point in Temecula that day. My good friends are part owners of Backyard Bottleshop. I go there all the time!

Awesome, and I didn't know Ballast Point had a place in Temecula, we'll have to try it out. We went to Backyard once and really liked it. Looks like they have a good thing going!

So I've had Fortunate Islands, City of Sun, and Booming Rollers so far.

City of Sun: Probably one of my favorite beers now
Fortunate Islands: Had it on tap and it was awesome
Booming Rollers: I was rather let down by this one. It was a very plain IPA with little flavor.

Nasty ass shit in the bottle

Agreed.....Only watermelon taste i like, is an actual watermelon. Flavor does not transfer well to anything it's added to. Certainly not good beer.:thumbsdown

If anyone is interested I am selling my home brewing equipment. RDP price is $100 for everything. Pick up in Murrieta or South Orange County.

Ok....back to business here. Sold the brewing equipment to an RDP member.

Cracked this big boy open tonight. Realized as we started packing that I have a lot of bottles I have been hoarding. Time to start drinking them!!

This one was ok....I thought I might've gotten a bad batch when I picked up the first 6 pack a while back but I really wasn't impressed when I had a pint at their long Beach location. The pineapple and habanero sculpin on the other hand.....wow. Those were delicious.

I just can't do the fruit thing. I had one and I'm done. Wife bought a six pack. She can have the other five.

I just prefer a double IPA. Nothing else can compare to delicious hops.

My wife loves the habanero, the only problem is you need a beer to quench the beer.
