Agree 100% that messaging to potential new employers on something like this really needs to be considered. I forget the rules, but if he asks to be class'ed as resigned, then doesn't that make him ineligible for unemployment...? I've had to deal with letting people go and allowing them to "resign," but by that time it's in Legal's/HR's hands so I don't know the legalities around this, but I thought that resigned can still be eligible for unemployment if the employers doesn't fight it? Regardless, thumbs up on the comment and absolutely something that SCD should look into.My post was not meant to be an ass. Shit occurs. As you already know, I would try to get the company to mark you are resigned vs terminated. If marked terminated w/cause it will impact future job when a background / job verification is executed.
