My post was not meant to be an ass. Shit occurs. As you already know, I would try to get the company to mark you are resigned vs terminated. If marked terminated w/cause it will impact future job when a background / job verification is executed.
Agree 100% that messaging to potential new employers on something like this really needs to be considered. I forget the rules, but if he asks to be class'ed as resigned, then doesn't that make him ineligible for unemployment...? I've had to deal with letting people go and allowing them to "resign," but by that time it's in Legal's/HR's hands so I don't know the legalities around this, but I thought that resigned can still be eligible for unemployment if the employers doesn't fight it? Regardless, thumbs up on the comment and absolutely something that SCD should look into.

Already have a lead on a management position at Amcor in Chino. They've been trying to fill the position for some time now and it maybe a good fit for me. Global company and they were one of my top accounts when I was the regional service manager for Husky Injection Molding Systems. As a matter of fact I have a spreadsheet of probably 60-70 molding facilities with contacts at all of them that I could reference to.

If the stars do not align I'll just take what little unemployment pays and work with my nephew a couple days a week for cash and enjoy life.
Back in 2007 I went to work for API Kurt Containers in Commerce. Guy paid my $140k+ benefits to start and after 6 weeks I walked away as I was to do observation only. Bored out of my mind...
Walked about of there and said fuk it, I'm taking some time off to enjoy family as our daughter had our first grandchild. Did whatever I wanted to do for 8 months then took an offer at Nursery Supplies in Orange.

Life is short...
Just curious. Do you think your former employer will challenge your EDD request. 🤷

I had an employee move to Hawaii. Applied for EDD,
I replied... he was not terminated and still has a job if he decides to return for employment.

My employee calls me week later... says Boss.. you know I'm now living in Hawaii....
yep, but I'm not paying you live in Hawaii... get your ass back here to work..

he did not return and we did not pay for his EDD...

So my work just told me Friday at 4pm that I need to be on the East Coast Wednesday for a retreat and its mandatory. Fucking clowns. Two days notice.

I need to book my tickets,policy states flights 6 hours or more are Business Class. The flight im looking at on Jetblue is 5 hours and 58 minutes.

Got me second guessing now! 😂 i dont need this type of petty shit for a reason to get termed. But I aint sitting bitch in a middle seat on Spirit either!
That’s more than two days? lol.

Good feedback on this thread so I'll jump in.... Dave I believe your post here is your ultimate true answer. She was given an opportunity to let you go and took it. There is definitely something called 'Aged Out" and at yur age you need to understand that it's not like when you were in 40s... I recently interviewed for positions I got in my sleep 10-20 years ago and they all passed so it became very apparent I was aged out. As someone mentioned use your network to leverage relationships in your verticle industry... thats your value... especially that acct you said was yours in past. You'll find best results that way. Sorry this happened but it wasn't anything personal... she's a bitch , time passed and thats all.

Buddy just had his "position eliminated".
He got a pretty fat severance package after 15 years with the company.
He got a divorce about 6 or so years ago at 45.
He's been dicking around on remodel projects for 10 years with no time to get them done. Dude figures now that he has the time he'd knock some shit out. Plenty of cash to get his projects done, pay his bills and play a bit and start looking for a new job at 2 years.

His house projects are about %90 done in 4 months. New floors to new roof. Did most of the work himself. He won't have to touch it for maintenance in 10 years. Its all done.
Now he's traveling like crazy. Dude goes on fishing or hunting trips everyother weekend. Non travel weekends hes in the garage tinkering on toys and teaching his 19 year old son to turn wrenches and do home repairs. Shit he could never do because he was so busy at work. Ex is off his payroll in a few months. He's getting a fat raise. living it up. I'm so jealous 😫

But i do think he's gonna run out of cash. I'd be looking. Taking my time and looking for just what I want.

Those of you with employees abusing their credit cards, why don't you just take it out of their checks? After a few times, they'll stop doing it.
As an employee, I'd rather they be fired otherwise they'll cry about their check being short or some shit and spread their cancer throughout the work crew. Abusing the card privilege is theft, shows low character, and shows no respect for the employer/company.

Lol, when I had a gov expense card as a DoD civilian, any discrepancy was not asked about by a boss or accounting…no, you got a call from fraud division within that billing cycle. ANY discrepancy.
They don’t believe in accidents. You either did it on purpose or were irresponsible with their property (the card)…no in betweens, no excuses.
I carried my card in my travel briefcase and treated it like my job depended on it. (Which it did)

Well I gotta look at it this way. They are moving to the Reno area in the next year or so and I didn't plan on moving with them so there's that.

Know what's rare? An employee using their personal card by mistake when buying something for their employer... Doesn't happen.

We have many employees who were buying fuel, or were supposed to be buying just fuel. Snacks and drinks kept showing up. Disciplinary actions weren't working. Yanked all the cards for this set of employees. Then I put a huge fuel tank at our shop. No more snacks on the company, our accounting department loved it and I ended up saving some money on the fuel.
Might be time to share the time I filled my boat tank on my company Amex.... but I asked my mgr in advance if he'd approve me taking a client out that day. He only needed to know which acct so he could cover his ass based on revenue history from that acct....These corp mgrs need to cover their ass is all cause they answer from above....All about communication in these matters.

At AkzoNobel one of our Whale Hunters actually bought a boat for a client! APPROVED .... swear to God .... historic.... but it was discussed and approved in advance based on revenue and future potential from acct. Wild.

Yep... the big 3 coatings companies were once highly aggressive in ceasing majot accounts....5 year contracts.... free massive state of the art spray booths and accessories, etc.... if they were a builder of ships, trains, planes etc.... everbody wanted em.

Yup.... that card wont even allow chips & a soda... the modern cards have set limitations. based on hiearchy of levels in company set by protocols & HR etc...... all about controlling spend... whenever our stock dipped we'd get notices that we couldn't charge for extra luggage on flights./upgrades... if they have something like 2K field personnel it adds up. When I negotiated my departure one of the items I insisted upon was keeping my Amex points and I still benefit from that piece thankfully.

Its basically a civil matter. You short pay them the EDD can shut you down in extreme cases. Your going to go before the board and its not pleasant.

Sounds easy but the EDD is anything but. Its all about the employee and never the employer.

I have this issue now with my guys using the Amex at card as gas stations. Might just go to a 100% gas card, but need one that works National wide.
Two days after I bought out my partners, all employee Amex cards were cancelled. The previous CEO just shrugged his shoulders at the outright theft that was going on, in spite of my continued bitching.

TBH I had been expecting it and loaded out & took my PTO because of the multiple rounds prior to mine..being on the finance side of the company I had access to the numbers. No Severance (they never do, and they waited to mail cobra docs until 31 days past termination, that was fun among other things :rolleyes:

I landed a much better deal within a month. I'm sure you will land on your feet. My prior company had issues..a lot was bad leadership. Absolutely no company cards..all reimbursements...and NEVER less than 30 days later.. That was a point of contention...especially in a travel required position. They fought you on absolutely everything.

Company I'm at now has cards..It's linked to my profiles in Uber/Lyft, Amazon, door dash, hotels, you name it. Mistakes would be easy to happen. We have a portal we have to log what stuff is for, who is involved etc. We also have an option up to a certain amount for "personal charges" aka mistakes etc. No notice required. Check the box in the portal, put the reason, it comes out of your end of month comm/bonus/pay check. Shit happens. I'm really pointed about what I expense, they are generous with our travel, fuel etc...I try to avoid any mistakes.

Years ago at another firm back HI I ordered a grill..at the time I had a corp card linked to my Lowes account...I ordered around $25k a month of materials from Lowes, corp account report came to me about 35-45 days later. I autopay essentially all my personal stuff. I didn't catch it until that report. Shot an email prior to my 60 day report due date to the parent company controller..Cut a check to the parent co and that was that. Nothing malicious, nothing intentional. Never heard about it again. It was common to have an accidental amazon download, or uber that was personal, those got fixed on report and pulled from payroll.. Sounds like they wanted a reason to exit you. Yeah. I teach nation wide for the DoD through a major university and have a CC tied to both. That thing stays under lock and key. There is zero tolerance for error. It’s not difficult, just takes paying attention.

Before I retired I had a Chevron card. I had to type in the code and mileage. The owner would get the info to track our gas amounts.
Same here. And vehicle number if memory serves?
We had 3 different fuel cards for gas, diesel, red diesel.
My company expense cc (water well outfit) had a $5000 a month limit and also usually required the pin with every use. (As rig manager I’d have to buy a lot of parts and oil and stuff daily)
I also had to send in a weekly expense report listing all my charges and accompanying receipts.

There’s really no way I could accidentally use that card.

when I had one I never carried it unless I was on a business trip.

This. Mine stays in my safe. No one ever got fired for not using a personal card instead of the company card.

I was offered a company credit card years ago or told I could use my card and get reimbursed.
The owner was very clear mistakesdon'tt happen. Only theft and incompetence happen and he fires for both.
10 years no company card but thousands in cash back rewards.
