... and maybe a new set of floats.

Can provide up to 45mph of extra speed. :D :thumbsup

That statement could be accurate, if the carb is so bad the motor won't run at all.

Brian ,don't bother rebuilding that carb. It looks like Harman Marine put it on for economy, 600 or 650 CFM.
Never seen a 460 that didn't like an 800 or 850 CFM more;). My 20 Spectra w/460 came with an 800 CFM but the 78 Spectra 19 w/460 came with a 600 CFM. Had to replace it with an 800 to bring up more rpm's. The intake you have is the cast iron SCJ made for 429 engines and has larger runners than the standard lower profile 429 intake. The SCJ intake is a mismatch to 460 heads but was proven during the 9hr Parker enduro in the 70's [ Robinson Ford ] that it worked great.Possibly because of the turbulance [maybe swirling effect ?] caused by fuel hitting the smaller head intake ports breaking up the molecules?

Floor is completely gone, water level in bottom, right up to floor level....oddly, the areas of the stringers I could access seemed pretty solid, given they are under water...

Floor shouldn't be much of a problem, if it's built like other boats. Seems like you got alot of expert advice, so I'll bow out and watch the progress.
Good luck bringing back that classic...:thumbsup

Brian really looking forward to this resto.
I can confirm the info on the Harman 460's, I have the pieces of one in the shop with my jet project and it came with the 850 per the list number. have the carb on the shelf, it is getting a polished tunnel ram...an old school hot rod jet resto.
I also agree with Tom on the oil migration issue, if that timing cover looks to have any corrosion on it buy a new one, they are about 50 bucks for factory Ford part.

Tom, can't believe you aren't salivating over this. I think you need a jet boat for your retirement, give ya that "young at heart" feeling again, LOL.

That's cool! We've swapped a broken 460 out to a 454 Chebby in the 19 Spectra and have a few parts left in the bin, including this GIL ski pylon that fits 460's only;)
Oh, the M/T valve cover is nice too.

Bitchen. So,from the pm I sent,I think you have this.looking forward to watching this build:thumbsup

He mentioned for paint something called an ink roller? Old school? Said something about it flattening the flake some so the final clear build isn't so thick.

I already mixed the baby blue, bought a jar of the flake I think I need, now the only thing puzzling me, is what size flake size is on the boat..Its either .015 or .025....I may mix both...gonna have to check with roth on laying the flake over....gonna be a ton of clear either way..on cars I normally use .004 and it take at least 3 coats of clear to bury it..

Flooring removal continued...Unbelievably, all the stringers appear sound, and unaffected by the water they were in

Doesn't look too bad, alot better since you cleaned it up. Didn't realize exactly what you meant when you said it was still under water lol. I had some of that Green and white discoloration in my old 69 Hallett. Never thought it was water intrusion, figured it was the type of resin and glass, and air pockets. Anyway you're moving right along...:thumbsup

Looks like a fun project. Do yourself a favor and drill a hole into a stringer to see what's going on below the fiberglass. Looks like the transom below the floor line is a bit sad?

Good deal. And, at least you know the boat is water tight.

I've also heard that if you flip over a Pomeranian and stick it in the boat, they absorb water very quickly. :D

Color samples yet?:headscratch:

Samples, yes...The boat sat in the sun after I got all the water out, and now has been the lower level of my shop with fans in it for a week..I soaked it in bug killer for ants and bugs ...all the bugs are dead, and everything appears dry....In an effort to come close to the blue color scheme offered when it was new, I mixed up some baby blue (im waiting on some toner for another blue I am considering....I have been looking for the closest flake, in color and size, and have narrowed it to one from Roth and one from TCP....samples below
