Well went to install the the wheels and tires on the Cobra this morning and one of the tires was flat. I figured ok, maybe they forgot to fill it after setting the bead. No big deal so I pulled out my compressor and filled it. It then proceeded to leak all its air out.

Well what the hell, It was a an excuse to drive the Fairlane, so I threw the one wheel/tire in Casper and we went up to the store. Casper was getting an awful lot of looks and people peaking inside and such, pretty sweet to see that going on especially considering that there was a very cherry OG 66 fastback Charger parked not 100ft away. Just makes you smile.

Anyway it was just a valvecore, I really didn't want them to dismount the brand new tire on the brand new wheel if they didn't have to.

Back home now and Bliss is sitting on the ground for the very first time today!. As an added bonus right as I was cleaning up, UPS delivered my Stewart Warner gauges that I ordered 8 months ago!

Smart goin with 50s on rear..... my friends had less rubber and he switched em out after feeling the power off starts.

Also.... is now the time to discuss heat guards for side pipes? Figuring you're way ahead of me.....

Doors and body panels are officially gapped! Terrible pictures but its hard to show all the fine line sanding a person's done. I did however kill 2 sharpies and about half a dozen sheets of sandpaper. Next step is to dismount the body and start prepping it for paint!

Did you have to build up any, or just sand fit? Some of the hot rod bodies are horrid, resin and polysphere debauchery!

Everything lined up pretty good except for where the drivers door meets the body near the windshield.

I'm not going to do any build up but will try to knock down the hard corner on the body side a little bit when I go to block everything. The weather stripping should lift up on the door a little bit right there too. Thats really the only line that somewhat bothers me but I feel like if I try and build it up it will look wrong too. Originals weren't perfect either tho right?!

Yes. I had to make a choice and ultimately went the way of the fakeys for better streetability (not always having to check my knock offs) It also allowed me to use the braking system I wanted to use which I spent a lot of time researching and designing to fit within the 15" wheels. The various parts came from 4 different Mustangs: 86 SVO, 93 Cobra, and 87 and 94 GT's; it is being assembled as a manual hydraulic system and is the absolute best system that will fit inside my 15's. I put a lot of effort into matching the master cylinder and the calipers piston displacements with scrutinizing attention being paid to pedal feel/ratio and the brake bias

I think the wheels look great, I like the way that discreet cap covers the lug nuts.

There was also an issue with wheel availability and I wanted to use easy-to-find parts in case there was anything the car ever needed in the future.

For the record there are back ordered parts from last October I'm still waiting on for this car.

Well today is so much more important for so many other reasons and I had a fair day on the lake celebrating the last outing of a houseboat ive worked on for years before it transfers ownership on Wednesday. This is a pretty crazy day especially given our current times. But I couldn't help but take a moment and think how much my life has changed in the one year since my car wreck on this day last year, how the outcome could have been very different. Also, realizing the stressers in my life that lead to that night; some of them I've removed, some have stayed, some have gotten stronger, and some have faded

But there's one thing I'm certain of, Im thankful to still be here today.

Well you know that saying, "life got in the way?"

Well between some serious projects and an influx of winter type work. My buddy and I just haven't been able to quite get together time wise to knock out the paint.. Just last week, I made the decision to continue on mechanical and paint it later because waiting on the paint is literally getting me nowhere. Next project is now riveting interior body panels together.

'Tis the season to be what it is.

I decided to leave the front inner fenderwells out so you can see the engine and headers through the wheel opening when it catches the light just right going down the road, vintage 60s style. Other than that all the panels that can be done without removing the body are done, except for the transmission tunnel and driveshaft hump. I figured I'd leave that one open until the engine/trans are in WHICH IS NEXT!

I wasnt counting but I gather i went through at least 300 rivets just today. My hands fucking hurt

I thought about it, but alot of these corners needed something small and compact. If I was smart I would've had both on hand but nobody ever called me smart

Those don’t looks like steel toe’d shoes. OSHA is on their way. Also if you like I can come spray it in late Jan or March. Just let me know and I will need a bed to crash on.

It took about 6 hours and 5 winch strap to get the powertrain sitting the way it should. However it is in and fully mounted. Beer me

I've been known to hang the front from the accessory holes, and use a floor jack on the tail shaft...or sometimes an unlucky friend!

Ya, well there's a built in crossmember under the trans in this car. I didn't really have an option.
