Figured I’d bump this back up. Maybe we stay on track lol
Totally real world scenario. Tree went down and took out a few poles. Unfortunately this tree took out poles that come from a sub station. Meaning the entire neighborhood got knocked out, all traffic signals are dead and the internet died as well.
So no big deal, I came home got the house up and running on the Honda 7000
.
But my wife needed to do a zoom meeting and the internet was down. Luckily we have AT&T cell service and I keep my IPad on Verizon. The logic being that when I’m in the field I always have 2 service providers.
Well….. when everyone in the neighborhood is without internet the entire cell network becomes like dial up.
Wife was able to make it through the meeting ish.
The kicker was that in the middle of the night (I turned off the generator and switched us to utility around 5pm) the utility power got cut and turned back on. Well during that it smoked our brand new fridge. Luckily we still have the old one in the garage so we were able to transfer everything over.
Just something to think about. It’s not always Armageddon, sometimes it’s just 48-72 hours lol.
