I call dibs for a swim m
Not really deep (5' deepest) but the keyway they engineered is another 18-24" deeper than the bottom. Lots of rebar.
Can you explain the "keyway" part.
It all looks like tailings. ...lol[emoji4]You should have panned that dirt for gold.
See above. In mechanical terms think of the keyway on a crankshaft and pulley. It keys the pools concrete into the ground. Can you explain the "keyway" part.
I'm making it extra deep[emoji14] ....see if you can tread water and pee at the same time...lol
Lol, that's why 5 feet is extra deep. Got to hide my anchors before he comes over[emoji15] [emoji4] [emoji1]SOOOOOOO, for Outcoled to tread water would only need to be about 4 feet deep.

Take a look back a few posts and you'll see I mention the daylight factor, which I'm very aware of. I was trying to simplify an answer. Not only does the key lower the footing it also reduces the chance of lateral movement.Actually the keyway is because of your slope. Distance to daylight from the pool floor needs to be 10ft, from floors outter most edge slope side, going straight out needs to measure 10ft to daylight. The key is added to make that distance the 10ft you need to make pool stabile near hillside. Needed so as hillside shortens or any movement etc the pool structure will not move from its current location ( due to hillside failure )
Not that your wrong zig!
but the link for engineering ( posted by other ) has nothing to do with the type of key you have
Pools looking good!!
Ya need to be able to have the new boat in the pool for parties..... Anti- Eliminator style.

Another big factor I've had to deal with is my neighbors 8 foot retainer below me.[emoji35]
Ha, that's why I pointed out you were not wrong, you were correct. It wasn't directed at you.
It was the engineering link, referencing a key in a slab for joining structures posted by others
Not a cheap build, but hey could be worse.
I've got one waiting to start in hills of Burbank ( or cliff of Burbank )
15 caissons 30ft deep and grade beams to build a tiny 12x24 infinity pool overhanging a hillside/cliff
( Google executive problems )

You should post up some pics of your crazy projects like that and the high end stuff.
Maybe their should be a pool section since there's so many being built right now.
You won't have to worry about being mocked an expert since you actually are.

Yeah, the link kinda reminded me of a wafer chip a furniture builder would use....but the basic concept is still the same.
My pool I could dig away all the dirt, fab some giant clawfeet and call it a big bathtub.[emoji3]
Sounds like you have quite the project ahead of you.
Lmao...those are the sleeves for the poles. Set up for dualing strippers.[emoji4]By the way... you should reassess the height of those stripper poles in the bottom. Methinks they are a bit too short. :skull:
Step One[emoji4]
Supposed to be dug and plumbed in about a week. [emoji4]
Meant to be bar like to sit and look towards lake.Very nice. Is there a table or something for those stools or are they close to the edge to be like a bar or something?
Hope you guys come check it out sometime.Amazing view

The link I posted was just for info only when the guy asked what a key way is. I never said it was for Ziggys pool. Key ways are used in all kinds of concrete re-inforcing. I used a key way on my retainer wall in Havasu.
Pool and view looks great Ziggy. :thumbsup
Crying you keep bringing it up. I googled key way and it was the first thing that popped up. The guy that asked the question never would have know.A shear key is for lateral movement of a wall or floor. Or for cold joints joining slabs and or structures.
A footing key is not the same thing. The only similarity is lateral movement
Look at your ref versus a true detail of what is done, this is also similar to what goes in retaining wall footings also. Just sayin, stop crying

Thanks, it's fun to watch it all go down too. You always think you know a lot but I've learned some new stuff on this project.....lol, and the ones leading to this.[emoji1] [emoji106]Pool does look great!!!
I'm surprised w the rock quarry backyard, key, baja, and barstools that you only used 30 yards
Sandcastle got lucky w that one for sure :thumbsup
Thanks in part to you[emoji4] [emoji106]Pool is looking great Zigmund. :thumbsup
Thanks in part to you[emoji4] [emoji106]
Right now I got no paperclip to click on or I would[emoji4] .Tease... I thought we were going to get to see an updated picture or ten!

Random threads do not work for me for some Fing reason.[emoji107]
Rokay[emoji4]Text them to me and I'll post them
