I have not Gaygoose, but I bet if you run with him you'll get super familiar with the transom of that boat. Go Go Verados:D:D
Hate to admit you are right about that one.
I think mercury has hit it out of the park with these.
May be the death of the two strokes. :(:(:(

I thought you were dead? I know your Double Cheese Burger is growing weeds in it. Just sell it! What is the salvage cost of it?:finger

So a 31' Skater estimate with 2 400s 115-200mph so it will be interesting what this DCB runs.

http://speedonthewater.com/new-boat...-outboard-skater-catamaran-under-construction

I don't think anyone was thinking 200 MPH... LOL

DCB was expecting 113-116 with this boat. 107'ish with the props they had. It will be interesting, but they are different boats. That DCB has got a lot more weight in the interior and finish, then a Skater would. The skaters are light weight race boats.

I would imagine the Skater would be faster in the end, but the DCB would be one that I wouldn't mind spending a day on the lake in. Now going offshore? :D

Thinking the same thing, Skater's the business boat while the DCB's the bling. Not capping on either as I would be grin'n to own either. [emoji6]

I know a reason outboards worked well was due to the lightweight of the 2 stroke engines but with most now being 4 strokes the weight has to have increases greatly and at this point i dont see a real advantage anymore.

What is the weight of the 400s i thought i read something that they would be too heavy for smaller boats so they must weigh a good amount.

Not one to run around and correct people but actually the 300's are 504 lbs each plus you have to add a little more weight for external steering so it's closer to the HP to weight ratio of the 400R's. The 400 has a crank case so you would have to add in a little weight for motor oil. The one question I have asked and don't know the answer to yet is what pumps if any are required to operate the steering and trim on the 400?

Honestly I have been so busy today I haven't had a chance to Call Tony and see whats up. He's gone for the day now so I won't have any answers until tomorrow at the earliest.

Outboards aren't a plug and play deal though.. Generally the first time they go in the water they run some #, then they play with props and motor heights etc.. and squeeze some # that's 8 - 10 mph faster out of them in a few trips..

Dave, I would say if it were any other builder then I might agree with you. But, there's nobody on the west coast that has more experience with twin whacker setups than Tony. X dimension is X dimension and I'm sure they have that dialed in after all the years of doing this setup. Just because it's a different engine really means nothing. You still are going to run the same height "X" and it's still a "bravo style" prop. Should be the same setup as a pair of 300 XS's

Wouldn't 326 lbs of additional engine weight affect the X dimension?

Details from the OB Church, they had someone who went for a ride during testing.

I think I can say safely that it went over a 100 mph and mileage was good. Bully was hesitant to discuss due to the fact many changes were being made during testing...prop rotation, lower units and such. He didn't want to spill the beans until the optimal numbers were obtained.

So we have to wait a bit for final numbers. :bangmyhead:

Have they put a 1350 in a M-29? What would the difference in cost be? What about top speed.

Yes. It's already for sale. I think it's 2012. It's red white and yellow. I want to say they said 140+mph. I would guess an extra 75k.
Here's the link http://www.powerboatlistings.com/view/32919
Thats a F 29
there is a couple M29s with a single 1350
i think a red one and i think the all white one they had at the LA boat show in 2014 had a single 1350
I do remember the 140+mph

I thought the all white had Merc 565's. The red one I don't remember it.

So is it cheaper to go inboard power if you are going for top speed? What would it take to go 108 mph with inboard power? Imagine longevity and fuel consumption is the reason to go outboards.

My F29 (2009) did 107 with a Merc 700 and whipple stage 3 upgrade (820 hp). Im confident it would have ran 110 with some prop tuning and better conditions.

I would have to figure that this M29 has more in it, im thinking 112-115 when done.

Cheaper with inboard power ? hmmm. wouldn't think so if one's thinking twins. Even more so if OEM Merc power. Huge $$ for these 1100 and 1350 packages. Isn't a 1350/8 drive Apx $250,000 alone ? 400OB's are what 35K each, plus the extra brackets Etc. The OB's make Sen$e if your OK with around a 100mph boat. 140MPH is gonna COST YA on a new build!
On a side note, has anyone noticed how cheap a used 36 Nortech is now. ALMOST makes sense. Bad Arse boats for the same or Less then a lot of new builds.

Yeah, that's El Cap. I'd wager there isn't enough room to run it out on the big end regardless of the 'speed limit'.

I wonder if they had to add any weight up front for CG issues. Do you know RD?
