I never got to meet Danny. But from reading all of this and RD's post he seemed like a really cool person and friend. I myself really know how much it hurts with losing two of my best friends in one night and then my brother in a plane accident. .

If you think about it we are all one big family of friends here. I will have a few beers for Danny out on the lake today.

Hang in there everyone and Godspeed Danny.

This is what Danny & Erika gave to us for our anniversary present...a $50 gift certificate toward a DCM cat, just as soon as he started to build them :thumbsup

LOL the last sentence... Definitely this has taken a toll on all members for those that knew and did not know Danny. I woke up yesterday morning and saw this and was in complete shock that this would happen to someone so young. This has made me take a new prospective in life, to live life to the fullest and your family and friends are the most important things in life. I did not know Danny but my condolences go to his family and friends at this time. If there is going to be some type of memorial or fund I would like to contribute. RIP

He was so giddy about it, and he couldn't wait to give it to us. One of the best presents I've ever gotten, it was from the heart. Memories like that are priceless, and I'm glad to have had the chance to know him :thumbsup

Yup..... something like that shows what his character was all about. Sounds like Erika was a good catch as well. Never had the chance to meet her.

It's hard because Erika is family to us...she's my wife's best friend.
We had all these plans for later in life, our lives had become intertwined and it was truly an awesome thing.

I still remember when Danny and Erika got together, that's when Danny came into our lives.
It was at Paul & Char's place in Parker.
You could tell the moment he saw her, it was game on.

We were crashed out in the Gooding's living room, and here comes Danny at way-too-early-in the morning.
"Erica, you forgot your sweater and I wanted to bring it to you."
I'm thinking to myself "really??? c'mon, that's just so sweet!" :p

The next week I invited Danny to dinner, just he and I, so I could sorta get to know him and see what his intentions were with Erika.
I really got to know him that night, and I think that's when our friendship really began.

Cut to a short while later, and those two argued with each other over who was more awesome.
"You are"
"No, you are..."
Who talks like that? :p
I busted his balls over it all the time, and he flat didn't care.

Those two told each other every minute, of every day, that they loved each other.
It was so mushy, so genuine and pure.
In that regard, she has zero regrets and that's going to help the healing process :thumbsup

There's no replacing Danny.
We all know it, and that's what makes it so incredibly difficult for her.
They're so young, and had this great future all planned out...we were lucky to have been part of it.

I really thought we introduced them but wasn't positive. I do remember him seeing her though and being all excited, lol.

That was another great weekend. I think it was my birthday and I had just bought the house.

Good times Robert. :)

Yup, you had only had the house for a short time.

We (me, Shannon & Erika) were supposed to grab our toy hauler from storage in Havasu, and set it up at The Sand Bar Resort.
But it was so late, I called you at around midnight and asked if we could crash on your couch and, of course, you graciously said "no problem" despite the short notice :thumbsup

It was Halloween weekend, and I remember the next night when Danny saw Erika's outfit (she won "sexiest costume" at the Klugman's party), he was speechless, and like a little kid.

Everyone knew Danny was always a hit with the ladies, great looking kid and he had game.
But when it came to Erika, all that was out the window and he was like a little kid. And she with him...it was just so innocent, so awesome to see..

They were some badass costumes.

We will talk this weekend, it's been too long. You guys need to come out or we need to stay at the Islander.

Wow... I had no idea how close of a connection you had with him. I'm actually surprised how many folks are connected here with others. Erika must really be having a tough time. Sounds like she's lucky to have friends like you and your wife. And it sounds like they were meant for each other. :thumbsup My heart goes out to her and you guys that were close to him. Hang in there bud. Much condolences from the Hoots. ;)

I just can't believe this. I met Danny years ago at the LA boat show, and of course he was just like everyone has described, offered up a couple beers and we stood around talking boats. I'd send him a PM once in a while asking his opinion on some wild idea I had about modifying my boat, never was the response anything but "sure, here's what you'd need to do."

God speed and tailwinds...

I am so sad to hear this. I only talked to Danny a few times in regards to buy a blank hull. What a great dude. I changed my avatar just for a salute to him and hope other rdp members do as well. Rest in peace and godspeed to him and his family. :(

My wife and I had the chance to meet Danny a couple of times at the RDP camp outs. How tragic. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. :(

I just found out yesterday via facebook and can't believe it!!! I knew I would find something here about Danny and had to come in and give my condolences to everyone that knew him because he will be deeply missed by all that got ot know him (he made that so easy). It's tough to read through this thread and sit here at my computer and not shed a tear or 2 about it.
I met Danny through Nord (thank you Dave!) when I was going through a rough patch in life and was newly single and feeling alone. We instanlty meshed because of our interests in boats and off roading. I only hung out with him about 10 times and about half of that was spent just him and I talking about life and him making me feel better about the future. He always had a smile on his face and was just one of the most genuine people you could have the pleasure to meet. There were 3-4 times I came across his number in my phone over the last couple years and kept telling myself I needed to call and catch up, but got busy and never did :( It saddens me so deeply that I lost contact with him. Danny was never too busy for anyone. I wish I could be half the person that he was. The world is going to be a little colder with out you here to help warm it up. Rest in peace Danny Boy!!!

My sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Danny. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting him (we did have a brief discussion about high heeled flip flops on boats :D a few years ago) but I know how incredibly sad it is to lose someone so young who obviously had so much more to give and based on what's been said, he had a lot more lives to touch.
The family here at RDP's used to amaze me..............it dosn't any more. No matter what may happen, good, bad, sad; family, friend, friend of friend, RDP peeps always come together to lend a hand, give comfort and sometimes just listen. RD, you should be proud of what you've created here.

Stay strong and bless you all.

RIP Danny ;(.

I had conversations with him about buying a boat of his and so forth. Always very patient and was really a very nice person. Saw him around from time to time and he always had a big smile. Just a very nice young man. Condolences to all his friends and family. Way too young ;(

Yesterday was difficult to say the least.
But the love that was shared was amazing.
Some great memories were shared by all.

It was great reconnecting.
And making new connections.

A LOT of people have earned my respect.
And many others, I now respect even more.

Would Danny have approved?
I think so.

RIP, friend.

Yes I didn't get a chance to ask about the shirts.

Who did them up, can you/did you do more?

Are they available?

Very cool....I would be in for a couple

I was thinking this morning that it would be awesome if we could raise enough $$$ through a RDP tribute shirt or a limited production DCM soft sided cooler ($25 shirt with profits going to a fund) that we could help complete his V Drive.

Perhaps some sponsorship for parts, labor or donated machine work (Dave/Brian)

RDP should have enough magazine contacts to get a nice article written on Danny and the Boat. Perhaps get his parents and Erica to Parker for pictures in the boat.

Just thought it would be a nice tribute:)

RD brought this up and the idea was presented to the family.

The V Drive is, understandably, a sensitive subject for them, and having us chip-in to complete it isn't an option.

Do you think they will keep it and finish it?

I know Danny and his family were close and I know that they could easily do this finnancially on there own.

I think the magazine article would be a great legacy peice so we can always remember the type of person he was.

I had already suggested a memorial to Danny to RD and two others I thought were real close to him here. I still would like to do that if the time comes.

I have already produced many of the parts in the vdrive boat, I would be down for whatever it took on my end to complete that boat and get it the water.

I had always had good dealings with Danny in the past and it saddens me to think of his passing at such a young age.

I am planning on buying a dozen shirts when they become available

I was told at the services that my buddy Karl was going to make a large memorial like he did for Bobby years back.. I was waiting to get back to Havasu to follow up with that.

A plaque attached to your wall below the railing at the Parker house would be cool.

Be neat to be able to boat by there 10 years from now and I can tell my kid about Danny.
