I never got the pleasure of getting to know Danny, only through threads on RDP. My heart goes out to all who are grieving through this difficult time. Stay strong for each other and may your dear friend R.I.P.

So a few years ago we were in Parker for the offroad race. Day after the race a bunch of us brought our Rhinos and bikes to the Ca. side to do some riding. I was following Danny in his rhino and he nailed a post that was sticking up out of the ground. He almost flipped over but he saved it. I was able to see his face and he had a classic "oh shit" look. When I got up next to him we were all laughing so hard we had to stop and take a break. Ever since then whenever I would see him that story would come up. We'd always crack up over it. Thanks for the good times Danny.

I got to meet Danny 1 time many years ago. Him and I started talking boats and I could tell right away how passionate he was and that he really knew what he was talking about. I will remember the few beers I shared with him that night and the stories we shared.
RIP Danny

Very sad news, way too young. I never knew Danny but I did get the chance to understand the type of guy he was. On a trip to the dunes once my friend fell and separated his shoulder. This guy was in bad shape, he kept passing out on us and we needed to get him help quickly. Another buddy took off to try and find help. A young man showed up a few minutes later in a rhino and picked him up. Drove our friend to the completely other side of Glamis in a hurry to the rest of our group who then took him to the hospital. The next week I read a post here and found out it was Danny that had helped us out so much. I was happy to be able to thank him. Like I said, I didn't know Danny but I know he was a quality guy and a genuine class act. Those kind of guys are rare these days. Sorry for everyones loss, RIP Danny. Thanks again.

The first pic is from the best morning i've ever had in parker. Boat, beers, tunes and good friends! The pic of danny skiing with a beer was taken by me that morning too.

I've known Danny for about 8 years.
Whenever I was around him I couldn't help but think we have nothing to worry about with his generation.

I can't think of one project I was involved in in all this time that Danny didn't give me some sage, useful advise.
I imagine there is no one he knew that he didn't help in some way.

Sharp, dedicated to, loved and respected his fantastic family.

I feel terrible.

Didn't know Danny except for a few threads he input on and his boats at the show. I do know what it feels like to loose a friend and family member taken way too soon. My heart goes out to his family and those great friends on this board. Obviously with all that is posted here is was a great man.

I've got to say that after seeing this last nite, I poured me an extra heavy cocktail and shed a tear.......

Woke up this morning and convinced myself that it was all a bad dream........only to log on and find that I was wrong.......

Hard to get my head wrapped around this one.....damn tuff.

Wish I could contribute some pix, I just have one embedded in the back of my mind.......my new to me Howard Cruiser, Danny and RD maybe Dylan cruising around Irvine lake. Danny had to pee.....stood on the swim step and well, my new to me cruiser was then 'christened' by Danny.

Daniel, May you reach happiness and peace with God before the devil knows your dead.....

I really did not know Danny all that well. I only met him a handful of times, mostly in passing or just for 15-20 min top. He did however leave an impression on me. He took the time to talk, answer my often hard to follow questions and even offered to hook me up with someone he knew in the industry to give me a break on something I needed. Even when the couple times I ran into him and he was busy with shopwork / life, he still was very cool, though I could tell his head was going a million miles a minute. I do wish I could have hung out in a more social setting.

I never can figure out the whole why, to all of this... All I can say is I hope the family and friends the best in the coming days, weeks and months. I've lost a couple close family members this year and its anything but easy.

We'll be drinking to you this weekend at the river!

take care buddy!

I never met Danny, just a quick comment in a thread here or there, but based on what everyone is saying about him, I feel I missed meeting and becoming friends with one heck of a guy!

I lost 2 very close friends a number of years back, and it was hard then, and it still is today. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out why, and there is no good reason, spiritual or not. All I have are the memmories and the knowledge that I had the priviledge of calling those two guys my friends.

To the family, you have my sincerest condolences. To Danny, may you rest in peace. To all of his friends, may the good times you shared and the memmories you have help you through this difficult time. I know it may not seem to help, but please know that there are people out here who are thinking about and praying for you.

From all these pictures one thing is crystal clear to me...Danny almost always had a smile on his face and that kind of person's great attitude and smiling face is infectious to people around them. :thumbsup

Thank you to all for sharing your stories. I have enjoyed reading them...although I wish it was under different circumstances.

I'll always remember Danny as one of the nicest guys I ever met. Danny had just picked up his Rhino, and I mean it was BRAND new. I got in that damn thing, tearing around the keys. I flipped it over right at the gate, whacked the roll bar three kinds of sideways. Busted my ass pretty good, too. I remember Danny showing up to RD and I hammering (literally hammering with big ass hammers) on the roll bar trying to straighten it back out. The first words out of his mouth should have been choice, but they weren't. The only thing he wanted to know is if I was alright. He never asked for a dime, and even refused after I insisted. He was a class act in my book.

While I never met Danny Donohue, I did follow his boat building projects here on RiverDavesPlace. The skills and attention to detail in the workmanship of the boats he built are high quality, just as his high quality of friendship with others. After reading all of the postings in this thread to this point, Danny was one of the "really good guys" one could be associated with and he had many friends that have posted regarding his love of life and the love of his friends. Rest in peace Danny. You will be missed by many.

I never knew or met Danny but it's obvious after reading all the stories and looking at the pics that he was very dear to all his friends. I'll be 54 this Friday and when you get to this age, I guess it's normal to reflect on your life and all that have passed through it. I've been fortunate to have traveled the world and have met people from all walks of life and social status. It's kind of mind blowing to think of all the billions of people that have walked the earth and out of all that, be able to count on one hand, the number of really true friends in your life. The people that without a doubt, are some of the best in the world. It makes me sad that I never had the chance to meet Danny...I think he was truly one in a billion to many of you on here.

My condolences to his family and circle of friends.

It's hard to know where to start. It's surreal, like time has stopped.

Yesterday Pronstar, myself and several others spent the day with Erika then went to Danny's parents home. Both Erika and Danny's family are surrounded with loving friends and family. Both physically and through online media like RDP and Facebook. The outpouring of love, support and friendship is amazing and deeper than the deepest body of water Danny ever boated on.

The posts and comments are a tribute to the man Danny was and the legacy he leaves behind. They are a celebration of his life and the lives of all those that knew him, personally or online.

The stories and pictures are awesome, thanks to all those that have contributed. Sharing your memories will ensure the memories of Danny will live on.

Life is amazing and tragic. One thing Danny and Erika always did was tell each other how much they loved each other. Anyone that knew them knows how deep and devoted that love was. Please tell those that you love that you love them. You never know when that could be the last thing you say to them.

God Speed Danny. We had a lot of laughs together and you will be missed. Erika and your family have a tremendous support group and we will make sure they are taken care of.

Peace out.

I was trying to point him in the right direction for paramedic school. Way too young to die.
