Maybe I missed it, who wound up with it? Cool boat and one close to his heart.
He will do it right, and from the sound of it has a young family that can really enjoy it and possible force him to take some time away from work.
I thought wshuwrhr bought it?

The Schiada can be had for almost nothing...it sits lonely in Carl's yard. Yesterday was realtor day and Karen (Carl's Sister) needs the place empty. There are plenty of things in the yard that were just stored there and hopefully everybody gets their stuff picked up...if you would like to call on the Schiada please send me your phone number and I will have her call you...
Great Dave, we were going to let him say something
I didn't know it was a secret? He posted he had intentions of buying it week or two ago?

Someone that will enjoy it with his family. Maybe he'll announce it.
I know he's a member on here, surprised he hasn't announced yet

... Well that was pretty much a dead giveaway as to who the new owner is...LOL... Congrats...
Awesome Very nice Brian!
Thanks for the words peeps.
Sorry, I didn't make any announcement, I figured most already knew since I was asking questions about it and got grilled about the v-drive deal in both threads.
I always liked the boat and I remember him trying to sell it in the past. I though it was long gone. When I was mowing the yard the first day there I saw it and the Spectra, I paced it out thinking it was close to 30 foot, and kinda big, and asked Karen what her plans were for it and left it at that.
I took a snap picture and showed it to my wife when I got home and asked her what she thought about it and she was behind it the whole way.
We have been thinking about a bigger boat to take the kids out now that the youngest is old enough to get around on her own. Since the houseboat sold in Mead, we haven't had homebase anywhere to take babies and haven't been out all as a result.
I think this boat will fit us perfectly. I wanted to leave it just as Carl had it. I was dreading drilling holes in it to add a bimini, and as silly as it sounds, I was very happy when I got it out and uncovered that it already had a rail for one.
I considered getting new tires to keep the 13 Turbines on it, it just looks oldshoolcool, but it was brought up that in case of a blowout that it would be difficult to find tires in the desert. It would be much better to utilize the 14's that Carl bought for it from 2FFs used car sales. It was Carl was intending to do, so I thought it was fitting.
The boat had a name as I can tell from the transom and my wife suggested naming her "Wish you were here". I thought that was rather poignant.
As I posted, I read that the tanks will need to be replaced. Carl had removed the driveshaft at some point, I believe I saw it carted off into the trash the first day. I am sure someone had no idea what it belonged to. Perhaps he planned to put the glide in it....I don't know.
I need to measure the flanges for the bolt patterns and the OAL and have a shaft made for it. Figure out what to do about the tanks, and prep the motor and the rest of the geartrain to fire it back up.
Take it out for a water test and see what else it needs.
I also need to find or have made a suitable cover for it.
My wife is working on prepping the berth to redo the padding.
I'll snap some shots of it. The time change has been nice, I at least get home to see the sun does indeed rise at my house.
Brian
Love the idea on the name, well done.:thumbup:Thanks for the words peeps.

Congrats...Glad it went to a good home.
If you ever need help on a Saturday working on her let me know.
I work for beer but don't drink any of that shit that Hank and Paul like.
Brian I think there was a power glide at Carl's house that belonged to that boat? RCL said something about it?
Keep the 13's and add two spares under the trailer. .
Also I towed it home with my wife's 2000 1500 Sierra and I was surprised how well it towed. I didn't have much choice, my buddy's 1 ton ate some injectors the night before so I was stuck for a tow vehicle. I just figured for sure it would be sketch leaving a light and stopping.
Ima gonna say it is because of the triple axle, but that is just me thinking. I had reservations about it because I wasn't looking at getting a 1 ton truck, or how to get it to the lake if we took the coach.
At this point I am thinking the coach would tow it fine with the exception of dreading climbing Cajon or Mountain pass.
Yea, backing up an incline with surge brakes is a challenge and I have to figure something out to defeat that. I just pulled the pin and managed.
Brian
Depending on the tongue you can fab a surge locker to use when you are backing up. Pretty simple
Yea, I fancied just drilling a hole clean through everything and adding a t handle ball pin. Neurosing over it for sure.

I did this to mine  I can't find a pic, but it has worked very well over the last 7 years.
Congrats Brian, before you do anything get my JOB done, LOL
Yea, GodFather. Your flat plate I will charge you $50 or $100 for that will cost me $200 to build? You damn ingrate.
I'll gladly pay the $200 i you get it done ASAP and cool.
Sounds like you owe me a pic.
If I can't find anything worth showing, I will take a pic next weekend. I did not go all the way through. Drilled a hole and used one of these. Before putting it in, I slowly have to pull forward the fully lengthen the tongue... then hop out and put in the pin and I am golden!
I have Corona's and Patron margaritas on tap brother.
I don't drink beer at my house much anymore since the brewery opened up next door to the shop.
Be careful what you offer, it doesn't look very easy to remove the tanks.
I haven't done much investigating and haven't ruled out leaving them and adding gunnel tanks. From what I can see, they look not to be glassed in as I thought, at least not in the rear section.
I've never had a covered engine boat. It doesn't appear to have a blower or forced vents, other than vents on the transom. So I have some operating questions about that later on. I have always read fires/explosions were something to be aware of.
I am really happy it doesn't have a meat cleaver hanging off the back and I am excited to see how she runs.
The rear hatch doesn't latch, seems weird that it doesn't blow open and it has some goofy spring kinda deal to stay open. Takes some getting used to.
Brian
Yes, he had told me the same. She has a velvet drive in it. So it may have been intended for it, but it certainly doesn't belong to it.
I am considering what to do. I need to check and see if 13" tires are even available. The 14 tires and wheels are all made in china and those who know me know I am not down with that at all.
She carries one spare, but I imagine finding a 13" turbine will be tougher than finding tires.
Brian
Go any pics of that racey mc racerson?
Honestly I was floored there was no provision to defeat it. How the fuck did that even work? Just don't back up an incline?

Brian if you feel like start a build thread on the boat.. There should be a blower in the engine bay, if there isn't one you will have to add one.. (Have too being a strong word.. but strongly advice) There's more then likely a blower switch already on the dash. If it was me (just saying) I'd yank the belly tank and have IMCO build a new one out of aluminum.. I'm pretty sure you can find those old mag wheels if you look for awhile. You might end up having to paint it to match, which depending on your OCD might end up painting the other 7 so they all match perfectly. Double spares though, and you'd be good to go for towing just about anywhere.
Adrenaline trailers has a cool little trick where they mount the spare tires on an actual Hub.. So if you lose bearings etc.. You can swap the whole hub on the side of the road and keep on trucking. I really like that, and have never seen it before them. It works really well with torsions because it's one bolt and your back in business.. Not sure what it takes to get a hub off a typical axle.
RD
It is a vdrive. No bellys. It has two, outside the stringers.
It does have a blower switch, but no blower as far as I can tell. I figured it should have one. Kinda figured that was an enclosed motor deal.
No OCD brother. I am hardly that guy.
But I did a little looking already. She carries a single matching spare now.
Hub assembly is a good idea, for any boat really. Good idea.
Brian
For some reason I thought Carl told me it had a belly tank.. Either way I'd replace those with Aluminum, which opens up storage potential in the gunnels etc..
RD
No sir. It would have to be fore the vdrive gearbox and strut. Too much weight towards the bow.
Gunnels are already open, it has two, pretty big looking, tanks under the floor, outside the stringers, one on each side of the motor.
Brian
In no expert so in curios. I had to buy a 5 flat adapter and trailer has an extra wire. Is this different?
You have new school stuff that has a solenoid that blocks the brakes when the reverse lights come on.. This is old school stuff, where you either had something to put on the trailer to block it from happening, or you put it in four wheel drive and powered through it.
Even the new school trailers have a little thing you can drop into the side of the actuator to prevent it from moving in the event you are in a vehicle that doesn't have the wiring, or you have a problem with the trailer.
RD
I dunno why.. I assumed it, but I did.. Makes sense when you think about it.

Old school stuff you just back up normal, cause the surge brakes don't work anymore anyway
