I showed up at the Fullerton DMV to take my class A so I could pull doubles (trailer behind my 5th wheel) and the DMV person did not even know what to do with my C6500 truck and 40 foot toy hauler.Didn't realize that F350 had air brakes View attachment 1186396

That would be frustrating, but then it's the DMV, so nothing new.I showed up at the Fullerton DMV to take my class A so I could pull doubles (trailer behind my 5th wheel) and the DMV person did not even know what to do with my C6500 truck and 40 foot toy hauler.
When I got my CDL class A in California they opened the door and wrote down the GCWR of the tractor on her exam form, I asked why and she told me if it's not 26001 or over then the test won't be given, I'm pretty sure a C6500 is under 26000I showed up at the Fullerton DMV to take my class A so I could pull doubles (trailer behind my 5th wheel) and the DMV person did not even know what to do with my C6500 truck and 40 foot toy hauler.
That was about 15 years ago and said f-it. Mind you, this was after I was told that I could not pull doubles like that. Their recommendation was actually to get a tractor/trailer and come back. I told them I did not have air brakes on my Toy Hauler so how was I supposed to study or show them my proficiency? The ESL had no idea how to respond and I was done with my Rosetta Stone lesson. Never furthered it.That would be frustrating, but then it's the DMV, so nothing new.
Is there a moral to this story, like, were you advised to go to another branch, or simply sorry, have a nice day.
