The Lunch Counter at Woolworth's and the smell of fresh popped pop corn when you went into the Sears store in Compton.

Taking your steel skates apart to make a scooter or skate board.

Searching the Ivy bed along the hwy for glass bottles. $.02 for the small and $.03 for the big. Cashing them in at the corner store to buy candy, soda or gum.

Slot car tracks.

Warren Miller movies at Chick's Sporting Goods
The Frito Bandito

I remember when Warren Miller films first came out, and Warren would stand there and narrate them as they played! I was bummed when he stopped coming, and they turned into regular movies. :(

My dad had one of these...

Phoenix peeps. Who remembers Wallace and Ladmo Show? Classic stuff there. Lots of thinly veiled adult humor for a kids show.
comic books with ads for cool shit like x ray glasses
when a new 4 wheel drive pickup could be had for less than 10K
the old plank road through the sand dunes between Yuma and El Centro before people burned it for firewood
Driving into Phoenix from Blythe on 2 lanes

Was anybody else there?

I made all 3 days....at least thats what I remember... ;);)

Me and a buddy flew down from Anchorage. I was 22 YO.
3 days of CA debauchery, had a hotel in Ontario, and a personal shuttle to the front gate each morning.
We were in a group of 12 that won the trip on a radio station in Anchorage.
It was sensory overload for us trailer park Alaska albinos. We had never seen such women and mayhem!!

Got one of these sitting on my desk, my dad was an occasional photographer back when he was in the Navy.
The boxes of slides all have dates of '59-'61, so it's a bit older than a lot of the inmates in here. :D

I keep something besides film in it these days. :champagne:

Using a hammer and nails to build a house.
When the only food at a gas station was in a vending machine.
When McDonald's didn't open until lunch.
Cartoons on Saturday morning.
The auto shop teacher smoking during class.
Cartoons before movies.
Waterskiing behind tiller steering.
Water ski belts.
Sears and JCPenny sold motorcycles.
Harley and Indian sold dirt bikes.
The edges on skis were held on with screws.
Most mechanics were greasers.
Being encouraged to ride our bikes to school, on a county highway.
Before Extreme
Motorcycle freestyle meant jumping a line of busses.
Square dancing at weddings.
Hard shoes.
Not being allowed to wear jeans everywhere.
Drafting machines and pencil lead of different hardness.
General stores.
All watches had hands.
Check-out clerks could do math in their head and count change.
Record stores.
50, 65, and 80cc fully titled enduros with lights and blinkers.
Only cops and bikers rode Harleys.
Harley dealerships had dirty, oily floors.
Vending machines with glass bottles.
There was about 50 different brands of snowmobiles.
World War One veterans marching in the Fourth of July Parade.

Awesome thread. Thanks, Brown.
