So since I am doing the engine in the blazer, the body shop decided to do the top for it. Might have slightly over done it. New license plate might end up being GLD TOOF. This ought to be stupid in the sun.

Sweet Jesus.... you're in bass boat territory with that flake and as an ex AkzoNobel/ Sikkens guy I'll need to know what brand that is please.

Yes the white blazer is getting the bling top. It can go on either though, but you really wouldn't see it on the big one.

So this weeks project became this to help a buddy out. Don’t normally do boats but tired of him having so many issues with it.
.
That’s bad ass. Did you get it figured out yet?

Interesting hull. Do you know what kind it is?

I believe it is a challenger. Don’t quote me on that. Yes. Fired up first try. I had the engine on the run stand to make sure it was going to at least run. Got a base tune in it. Cleaned up a bunch of wiring and added an oil cooler and an accusump for some piece of mind. just straightened out a bunch of shit.

So I did an engine swap on the 2wd blazer because a 5.3ls just isn’t enough. I have had a Magnusson blower laying around forever and I had a 6.0 short block done for it. Nothing to trick just forged pistons and a small camshaft. Well that engine didn’t quite work out as planned. Got it fired up and it developed a knock about 5 minutes in. So I made the executive decision last night and pulled my virgin 6.0 down off the shelf and got it ready to go in. Did a set of blue valve springs last night. So I come in this morning at 6:30 and start on it. Pinned the balancer on the new engine. Pulled the old one and put the new one in place and running by noon and took it to lunch. Thing runs bitchen now. Just got to get the body shop to finish the top now. Pretty much on my own with a little help getting it back on the mounts. Not bad for an old fart but I am going to feel it tomorrow.

It's a Ralph Firman chassis with GSXR1000 engine.
Ours is basically the same as this one https://automaniagp.com/vehicleDetails.php?RFR-F1000-637
From the link you posted:

Formula 1000 Racecars can reach speeds in excess of 170mph; brake and corner beyond 3 g's; and provide a challenge to any driver, engineer, or team. Drivers moving into Formula 1000 from lower formula racing are astonished to feel the power and braking ability in a 1000 pound superbike powered car.”

Daaang!

That must be a fun ride. I was unable to drive formula cars because even at my fittest, I weighed 215 and I'm 6'2". Tried it a couple of times and I looked like a clown in a Shriner parade car.

It makes life easy. They have other adapters for it to. I had to make some extensions as it was not quite tall enough to clear the blower.
Saw those at SEMA a few years back. Thought it would make it really nice for one person to not scratch up the firewall and inner fenders...not that I've ever done that😏

The F-1000 has a removable insert, so relatively easy to get in for even bigger guys.
The Van Diemen F1600 is hard to get in even for me. I'm 6 foot and lean built.

The red Crossle has a wider entry more suitable for people with different body frames.

There's a 12-13 sec difference in lap time between the modern F1000 and old school Van Diemen and Crossle on our 3 mile track with 16 turns.

Is that the same model as the one in Entourage?

I finally got my wife to watch the series, and it's the first time I've ever heard her say, "That car is badass; you should get one."
I believe the one in Entourage is a 1965. A customer has one of those we played with a few years ago.

So this finally happened. I went and looked at this blazer 15-16 months ago. Old guy was asking about getting it redone. I asked if he was going to keep it or sell it when done. Sell it was his answer. I told him sell it how it is and save a lot of headache and money. I said I would be interested in it if the price was right. We came up with a price and he said he would let me know I would here from him every couple of months. Yes I am still interested just let me know when. That day finally happened. It is not as rough as it looks. 1972 K5 CST factory orange blazer. Some new parts were included. Even got the numbers matching short block which doesn’t really do anything for me.

You've seen what these are doing restored at Barrett Jackson. Numbers matching original orange may be worth doing a OG resto on. Same owner since 75. I know it's not what your shop usually does, but could be a nice promotional item to send across a auction block. Just a thought?
