Umm did I miss something? Where are your outboards hanging off the back of that thing? Did you get another DCB?

If you have an extension box you need this shaft from imco. I believe Fred at imco said if you have the newer XR shaft it would work. It didnt for me.

You need a special tool from Merc/ Quicksilver to remove and install the water hose fitting.

Swap driveshaft. This wasnt fun cause I didnt want to damage the bearings. Forget my glasses at home didnt help either.

Wasn’t too bad. Was more frustrating trying to find the special tools.

OCD is a problem and I hate myself sometimes for it.

I was drinking coffee and looking at the back of the boat. Noticed the cavitation plate is crooked. We’ll shit

They said it’s normal. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Paying 15k for a chunk of aluminum you’ll expect it to be straight.
Yea that’s some straight up bullshit, cannot believe they didn’t automatically step up to fix it.

There’s no way that’s normal. Plenty of my friends have scx and not a single one of theirs looks like that. I agree with 02howard. Can’t believe they didn’t step up. Especially with how expensive it is for that upper. Hopefully it’s only looks and doesn’t affect the boat at all.

I’d tell imco to suck my balls and get me a new one that’s straight.

Big difference from the first one glad they took care of you on that. I have heard in the past that the SCX sits back a little further and tends to put the drive in the water a little deeper than the Bravo so maybe you will not need the 1" spacer. Great job always following.

Sooo, what the heck happened that caused that?

Not being a stern drive guy, I often hear you gotta go easy on the drive out of the hole If you want it to last. Is this what happens if you don’t?

BTW, not beating up on @ChrisV, just trying to learn a little. Props to him for sharing the gory details.

With 230 hrs on the boat who knows when the drive was last rebuilt. I also wasn't easy on it this summer. Hopefully it last a while... hopefully

remember when I posted big boy toys = big boy repairs, and so many said mehhhhh reliable set up. Always is UNTIL it’s not, lol
ordered my Scx and 1:35 gears today, ouch
Everything blows up. The SCX should be better in your vector. Less weight.

New drive is badass. I hated this boat before with the XR drive. It would porpoise like crazy if I didn’t add a lot of trim to the tabs. Which was sketch cause if I forget to put them up while turning it could be bad. Now it barely porpoise. Probably taking the 1” spacer out is the reason.

So you are running a -2 sc just curious how much higher the lower is to the bottom of outside sponson with the spacer removed. Glad it helped making the swap to the SCX makes all worth it!
