If you leave the rubber isolator between the sleeve and the floor you still haven't added any strength there is still a lot of movement. If you put the sleeve between the rubber isolator and the floor and tighten it down then there is virtually no movement of the all thread.

They look a bit used.

Ah, come on man...

Sand blast 'em, and a new coat of paint and they'll be good as new.

Run em!

Btw, I'm in Las vegas on business this week, some aussie airforce dudes are staying at the same hotel as me. Should be cool havin some beers with those guys tonight

Haha, good luck. I was talking to a American vet in New Orleans about when he was in Vegas with a heap of Aussies. He said they could only get 4 pallets of rashins a month or something. He said the Aussie's got 3 pallets of piss and 1 of food.

Yeah I'll give them a wire wheel n a quick spray. Just might watch them every outing till I get some newer ones.

I have to concur with Headless Hula

Clean 'em up, a new coat of paint and they'll give you a lifetime of trouble free service.

You're doing nice work, but this isn't going to be show piece. You intend to actually use this boat when you're done. Clean 'em and run 'em.

How tight should the front engine mounts be?
I've seen cast break when forcing it.
IMAG1091.jpg
Should that be flush or has the bush swollen.

I just buzzed 1-2mm (0.08"... if that's even a real number haha) off the bottom of the bush.
I've still left 1mm (0.04") of rubber, should take some vibration out.

So I've got a plumber mate sorting out the water lines onto the primaries of the exhausts.
Anyhow, he's taken them to a guy he knows who used to do some welding for a performance boat shop in town.
This guy says that injecting water in the primaries are going to do nothing as far as cooling concerned
IMG_20170130_134238.jpg
and I should just plumb the water into the tips to just baffle the noise.

What's everyone's take on it?
I'm calling bullshit.

Well just ask anyone who's turned the water off on their nice new bassetts or rewarders.
And I think he has it backwards on the noise. The water coming out of the header should be almost not visible.
Also I'm going to say those are not good candidates for water injection. Water headers come off the flange and go down, then curve up with weep holes on the bottom. Also f your using water out of the block those injectors are going to be a low pont in the system and drain into the cylinder. UNLESS you are using a pressure feed off the bottom that only moves water when the boat is moving. At the very least you would need a pressure release opening valve.

Yea I don't know about all that.. so cmi and everyone else has been doing it wrong? Doubtful just tell him to do it how it's intended to be and tell him thanks for the advice.

Yeah agreed. It'll be good to get the temp gun on it when we're setting it up to see what difference it makes.

I had to re plumb my boat because it was setup wrong. Had to add a separate pickup for the chiller as the motor and cooler were running off the same line with no sea strainers and just the nose cone water pick up. Talk about playing with fire. One of the first things I changed before the boat touched the water.

That's what happens when you lose water pressure to one header. It gets very expensive. Learned a valuable lesson that day. That I hate floating water grass lol

So I could only imagine what can happen if the water was routed the way he wanted to do it.

Jimmy headers aren't jacketed and to me they don't have enough sweep at the bottom of the runners. I prolly missed something along the way if you are running a pressure bypass for low speeds. He's prolly just playing it safe for himself because he doesn't want the cylinders to fill up with water.

I was going to run an adjustable pressure switch to bring the water on at revs.
And have a bypass going straight out the back.

The setups changed a bit since I drew that up.
Pressure switch will go between the raw pump and cooler. And I'll have a ball valve to adjust flow going to the grub screw orifices.
And a ball valve on the pick up so I can isolate the water if I need to work on it in the water.
Maybe put some strainers in there somewhere
And hose sizes may vary depending on hose and fitting availability.

Got the floor back in and carpet up the back down.
Coach screwed the heat exchange, trim pump, drive oil and a few other things in place.
Cleaned all the jam out of the steering rack and regreased it.
IMAG1102.jpg
When I had it all mounted up I thought I was going to be a ft short on the cable, the Chrysler drive was mounted off the exhaust headers by the looks and I wanted to be more square with the transom.
So I robbed abit from up the front.
IMAG1103.jpg
FB_IMG_1478579900514.jpg
Had to modify the swivel joint to suit the merc steering arm and put a brass bushing in it.
IMAG1105.jpg IMAG1106.jpg IMAG1108.jpg
Might have to find a cheap steering wheel cover to jazz it up a bit, looks a bit ratty.
IMAG1104.jpg

Made a start on wiring, got the fusebox wired up the nose through to the dash.

But it started raining in sideways into the shed so I called it a day.

Hopefully you won't have much steering torque. That steering clamp and bracket were dodgey on 25 hp pontoons. I wish you could come over and raid my parts pile lol.

I have visions of power steering one day but the misses is watching the credit card like a hawk [emoji28]. So we need to just get it on the water then rehash stuff like that.

whats the deal with shipping you stuff?

customs, taxes?

I have 2 extra power steering setups. I'd be happy as shit to get it out of my shop.
I went full hydraulic, so i have all the parts from that, plus a spare. I'd be happy to send it Jimmy.

Oh shit yeah. Probably ~$100 ($70US) freight.
Was only $6 to get stuff off RD.
I'm probably going to have to get a secondhand prop from over there too, there's stuff all to choose from here.
