If it's standard color wires I have never seen any other colors, marine could be different.
Black-ground
Red-12v switched
Green-signal
White-light
You can test the signal with a test light
The signal wires reading 12v on the multimeter. My test lights at home.
It would be pulsing to fast to see on a test light.
Ive call it a day, just finished the copper work for the cooling, just need to get some 1" heater hose to finish it off and some 3/8 hose for the low pressure side of the power steering.

If you're reading 12v on the signal wire then you're good, make sure you have a good connection at 12v switched on the run side of the ignition switch, not the accessory side of the ignition switch, and check your ground.

I'll double check the wiring but the all the other gauges work and its a common 12v behind the dash.
I may have gotten a dud gauge, I'll wire it up off the car to see if it'll run.

There are dip switches in the back of the gauge that are set to 4 pulse V8.

Got talking to one of the auto sparkies at work and he said to try putting the multimeter on DC Hz and go between 12v and signal wire.

I must have gotten a dud Tacho.

Heres the to do list to get in on the water.

Testing the powersteering tomorrow.
Just need to get a belt in the morning.

Need to invert the oil pressure light its coming on at after 5 psi, should be other way round.

Just waiting on a block mount ski tow from Eddy marine, i think they make to order because I ordered it weeks ago and the just sent the receipt now, so should see it in 2 weeks. May have to make it suit once i get it tho.

I'll swap this tacho for a new one.

Take the boat into the local guy to change the oil in the drive and he'll do a insurance check.

If hes happy we're good to go.
Ski season starts November so timed it perfectly.

The day u want to put the boat on the hose to test the powersteering is the day the old man wants to do the storm water on the shed.

Powersteerings all done.
I dont notice a difference in steering, might make a difference in the water.
Chased a few water leaks out.

Inverted the low oil pressure light, it now turns off at 5 psi.

Booked the boat in for the 13th of November for a insurance check.

Ordered a fuel level sender and gauge, no excuses for running out of fuel now.

Fixed that fuel leak in the carby.

I'm wanting to jazz the bilge outlet up, the laundry tap shrouds my plumber mate gave me look a bit agricultural.

Dunno what I done but its working.

Had 0.1 ohms from 12v on the gauge to battery with the key in the ON position.
0.1 ohms Ground at the battery to the gauge.
0.1 ohms from the gauge to the dizzy.
I did change around a bit of wiring with the low oil pressure light the other day.
But I can see how it would change anything.

I was bring optimistic with the ski tow.
It was never going to fit.
How they said it fits a small block??? I dunno its not even close.
So i might even bring something off the transom to stiffen it up.
Its gotta pull my fat guts around.

Put a new winch strap on the old one was getting a bit ratty and covered in fiberglass resin [emoji4].
Gave it a good grease and hit it with the wire wheel.
It might be a regular thing I might do, roll it out to let it dry because the winch had heaps of surface rust on the inside.

Is this boat wrapped?
Na painted, looks good though.
Just got a few pinstripes and the name down the side.
After summer i might get all the small marks and chips fixed up and get a clear wrap over it.
The paint marks so easy.
Its got stone chip in it already from the few times I've had to trailer it places.

Hey mate. Why did u blurr out the name , what does it say ? [emoji202]
Have to wait to Christen it and do the whole ceremony thing.
Apparently, each and every boat is recorded by name in the Ledger of the Deep and is known personally to"Poseidon" or" Neptune" the god of the sea.
So u have give back the old name and he'll erase it from his book and all the bad omens go with the name.
Then u say will u accept the new name ect.... then u bring out the 🥂champagne🥂...

Dont worry I'm itching to show everyone.

We gotta do this properly, we dont wanna jinx the whole show.
So patience young grasshopper.

Just dropped it off for final inspection.

Christening ceremony will be later this afternoon... if all things go well in this inspection.
15mph-18mph winds this afternoon so may not beable to mess around too much but we may find a sheltered spot somewhere on the lake.

Been following your thread from the start:thumbsup. I have dear friends that live in Sydney and plan to visit soon Australia has been on my bucket list.

One question tho- is there any bodies of water down under where there isn't some sort of creature lurking that wants to kill or eat you?

Yay it passed! The only thing they picked on was the tyres on the trailer need replacing and the neutral start switch isnt quite in adjustment.
So theres probably 1 more days work in it before I can take it out.
Need to jump through a few more hoops to get insured because the boats over 20 years old. But its only paperwork.

Interesting to note, marinized starter and alternator not required and only carb requirement appears to be flame arrestor.
Are these items exempted due to having a partially exposed engine ?
Congrats !!

From the way they were saying i think all the No boxes are just leverage for the insurance company if somthing happened.

Hmmmm, so Jimmy blows it up at the fuel dock, claims guy points to sign off sheet --- "aha, should have run a marine starter"

Shouldn't be a problem, from what I've read on RDP, a good number of members have swapped out for whatever's on the shelf at Autozone and they're still here
