Where did the 2-3 stops come in? Last I heard they were delivering out of his facility in OC or his facility in Havasu?

If delivery was somewhere else the customer was gonna pay for it.

Again this seems like the smallest hurdle to jump.. but I digress..

It’s almost as if Yamaha, Polaris, Kawasaki, Can Am etc. don’t overcome these same challenges. They must manifest the machines where they need to go instead of shipping them by truck.

No they have to too, but they have been doing it for years and have logistics down. A week ago speed mentioned they are figuring it out still. As Dave said not the biggest hurdle here. I just pointed out numbers that prove that.

To answer Dave too, 2-3 stops to drop off at dealers.

Speaking of dealers.
Is there a list anywhere of who the dealers are that have purchased or agreed to purchase and sell Speed cars?
I don't see anything on a cursory search of their website.

The logistics are pretty straightforward and there is only 1 factory. Most of these initial cars are customer cars and are going to OC or Havasu, or they are one of deliveries. There won’t be multiple stops at dealers for awhile.

It will be interesting to see how the dealer network works out.

Will Speed continue to sell direct?

With options being installed at the factory, that eliminates the sale and mark up of accessories that the other SxS's allow dealers to profit from.

Unless Speed gives dealers a significant discount, their bottom line and the salesperson's commision may be better served pushing Polaris, Cam Am etc...

I don't doubt that has all been addressed by Speed and the dealers but it will be interesting to see what they do.

Dave doesn't think I'm asking enough questions directly regarding Soeed cars so here's another.

Now Team Orange will want to call this "Hating" or "Worrying" but honestly it's neither. Just an observation and question.

The Speed Key.
On the surface it appears to me as genius.

They are bringing to market a fairly technical item with all new design and components.

No matter how much testing and R&D is done, they can never gauge exactly how badly the general population can FUBAR an item. An item they need to warranty.

So how is this mitigated on the early builds until you have a history of reliability to calculate warranty costs from?

You offer a Speed Key that unleashes extra power at a percieved discount and know that most buyers are going to opt in.
Minor detail being it cancelled the warranty.

They have gotten likely the larger portion of the early adopter's to voluntarily waive the warranty and actually pay $1.50 to do so.

Genius.

Maybe I'm missing something there?

The question I have is; Those of you having purchased build spots. Did you buy the key and is this something that you thought about?

When I reserved my car I bought the speed key for a dollar. Now the speed key is 1,250.00. After my 6 month warranty is up I will fill the car with E85 and run the speed key in the dunes.

So as long as you don't use the key it's covered? Buying it didn't automatically void the warranty?

did anyone ask Robby if there’s enough threads into the head? Is it going to shoot plugs?

Pretty much this. I’m not using the key in initial warranty period.

I personally would wait for mine unless I got a plant tour like you can with BMW. If they did that and had an off-road track near I’d drive out for the experience.
Well,no doubt LOF will be getting a plant tour,so you guys could take a road trip together. J/K J/K.
This thread going to guarantee all you guys RG hospitality at the final assembly line.

I know this was discussed before, just can’t find it. Do you have an option of clicking into “auto” so you don’t have to shift every time? Or it’s sequential and that’s the only way it comes. Nice looking car.

Wish you can, street drive them in CA. Would be a game changer. So silly to me. These seem better equipped for safety then some cars that are street legal.

You don’t have to shift it at all. You can just put it in the gear you want and go. They say it will take off in Low, Hi or OD. The CVT will do the rest.

Most of the time you’ll just leave it in Hi.

You can actually buy a warranty on top of the factory six month one. It’s for another six months I believe?

Not only does it cover the car, you are able to go on a bunch of trips all over the place woth team speed.. guided rides through MOAB, Mexico, AZ and a bunch of other places.

As well if you use the speeed key the warranty is still covered. I purchased that as well.

I think it was 1200 or 1500 bucks?

That would be well worth it.
Even just for peace of mind.

I think Speed will use rail transport to get all cars out west from Texas. You can load and move a lot of cars in 1 trip. Just don’t make any stops while transporting or looters may get your Speed😱 Also RG had mentioned that they were looking to hire experienced Logistics Manager.

All the Ghetto boys are going to graduate from city takeovers on dirt bikes to Speed UTVs, that might be an issue lol.

The only deadline they ever gave was the debut dates (on paper March 2021) and then assurances they would be at the sand show in 2021. Officially they are at 50% right now. They have been careful never to promise anything else, so I’m not sure what other broken promises you are referring to?

I said in 2019 when these were announced that they would be late.

In fact the vast majority of the predictions made by members here never transpired either, or Speed proved them wrong.. getting cars to the Sand Show, having production chassis ready, magically getting parts from China when they said it could not be done, etc.
Thats not true, they told me Dec 2020 but no later than Jan 2021, than they called me and said march 2021 but no later than april 2021. To be honest with you if they would have just said it will be 90days after we start manufacturing and we will let you know when we start, id been ok with that.

the ride thing is a cool concept, but I don’t see Moab being on that list. Moab city just passed a SXS street ordinance. Have to trailer to trail heads and no longer allowed on all the city streets.

He says in vid #87 60 days to start production. So we are still 5 months out for deliveries.

The dates they gave me were exactly what I said, March of ‘21. I have it in writing.

I didn’t ask them for any further estimates or guidance.

That is not accurate, as UT law allows them to be driven on public roads. It is just a noise ordinance and 15 MPH speed limit for OHVs. SXS are still legal for use on the roads in town.
