Flying over whitefish landing at Ryan airport (grass field) then heading into glacier!

Getting to see glacier national park from the air and threading the mountain tops is an indescribable experience. You get to see all sorts of spots in the park that nobody else gets to see just because there is no access.

Glacial ponds up in the mountains.. lakes everywhere and every white stripe you see going down the mountains is actually a waterfall!!

It is sensory overload between the optics, the crisp mount air, the turbulence when you cross the peaks. Going from 8.000ā€™ to a couple hundred feet, back to 8,000ā€™ in seconds.. Iā€™ve been flying my whole life and it kinda gave me chills just watching the ground come up and disappear.. unreal. The bush plane is about as close to being outside in the elements are you are going to get.. flying with the windows cracked or open all the way.

Damn RD, that is more than white glove treatment there that not many of us could ever experience. Thanks for taking us along. Simply amazing pics.

So we are approaching the road to the sun.

You will see two pics of a parking lot. From there people walk one hour and a half to get a view of ā€œLost lakeā€ which is on the back side of the mountain. If you look close you can see the trail and you can portions of it you walk through the snow.

Of course itā€™s a bit faster and a better view from the Husky bush plane.

I've never been to far away places, not that remote in a way. Those pictures look like the things I'd watch on NOVA, or National Geographic as a kid. Like a completely different planet than what most have seen. Thank you for posting the pics, and thank you to Paul for getting the camera up there!

The third pic we had flown past it before I got a good pic.. the glacier has shifted and there was the giant holes that appeared to go very deep into the glacier..

Be kinda crazy to hike and see something like that in person! We were miles away from anything though so I donā€™t think anyone would see it.
The first pic those glacier pools were bright blue in person!

These first two pics are the Matterhorn.. when we flew by this the peak was above us and we kinda flew next to it. Surreal experience!

Exiting glacier and heading back we went over Hungry Horse lake. Unreal bad ass! You can launch a boat and itā€™s a huge beautiful lake (long) and there is nobody and nothing in it.. we saw two boats..

Jackson Hole Wyoming.. I give it a 3.4 at best

Place is ridiculously over commercialized.. even on a weekday Disneyland feeling.. let me fuck you out of your money in a hurry if possible..

Every restaurant on a ground floor has a one hole toilet for both sexes.. meaning there is a line to take a piss at 11:00 am.

Iā€™ve always been a problem solver by trade so just walk upstairs to the balcony bars and thereā€™s multi holes ready to go.. (pro tip). Any place gives ya shit just say ya want an iced tea to go.

The whole place summed up in two examples.. I got a nice coyote hat I got from ole
AJ.. legit fur.. I priced it once itā€™s like 400 bucks.

I saw a fur hat in this town.. bigger head kinda looked like a husky? (Iā€™m sure they r passing off as wolf). Like 2k..

I walk out of the store and I shit you not.. see a guy full cowboy gear looks the part head toā€¦ crocs?? Wtf?

first time Iā€™ve ever even heard of that..

Walk fifty feet see a sign ā€œitā€™s a great day to bring your dog to the knife storeā€.

Weirdly I got a dog so we enter.. see this pretty cool butcher block deal.. check out the rest of the store.. salt shaker 75.00.. whoa.. check out some other shit it all has a comma.

That first item I sawā€¦ I thought was kinda cool? 37,000.00. Even drinkin the zeroes are correct.

The shops are swinging for the fences.. and judging by the amount of private jets I saw fly into this place they are getting it..

Pro tip #2.. fuck Jackson hole Wyoming.. you can keep your Hollywood / Yellowstone bullshit.
Surrounding towns are MUCH BETTER, and you will get the experience you came for..

Which honestly even then, Thereā€™s a lot of Patagonia types and lib looking peeps.. .. but at least it isnā€™t crowded and we came for mountains, wild and foodā€¦.not politics and joggers and skinny tired assholes. lol

Jackson was a cute town though.. and Iā€™m sure thereā€™s amazing food, because money always attracts chefs.. this place is faking the funk though.

My .02.. couldnā€™t run away from it fast enough.
Last time I was in Jackson it was to see this big fight..

To say that plane ride was epic would be an understatement . Thanks for sharing with us . I can toatlly see why @Sportin' Wood and @angiebaby are living there .....
The Johnson Family RV trip is how we ended up in Montana. We did a similar trip when our kids were about the same age. Our last stop was a friends off-grid property for a few weeks. It took us a dozen years to make it happen, but we knew we wanted to live here. Ironic that Dave and Stacy are staying in our little town of Polson, Montana. We traveled all over the state, scouting locations and ended up in Polson for many reasons. Small town atmosphere, with good health care and just enough services with a rural setting and great lake access. I drove past the launch ramp on Sat around noon and there was still parking 100 feet from the ramp.

Murdochs is three miles away, I go there far too often. LOL
