Greetings from the Tetons!!

Driving the 20 & 31 today was EPIC!! Beautiful if you haven’t done it.

We are in a town called Victor at a Rv resort (I’ll get the name of it, but it’s first class).

Sierra setup the grill and cooked her first tri tip tonight. :). Nice being dad and watching them do everything.

Sierra and Daniel hooked up the electric/ sewer and water etc.. they dropped the jacks and pushed out the slides..

Couple years I’ll be cat nappin in the back watching tv on these trips and wake up when we get there. 😍😍

As far as the campground, they have a whiteboard that Says “what did you see?”

Bald eagles
Grizzly bears
All kinds of wildlife and the counts on each are in the 20-30’s.. gonna be a good day tomorrow!

I’m getting ready to put on a sweatshirt! Gettin chilly!

Stacy’s pics from the drive today and arriving. :)

Beautiful scenery.. Stacy is ready to sell it all and live on a farm next to a river. lol. I said it looks better than it is.. I don’t want to shovel horse poop. 👀

Kinda bizarre this place doesn’t get dark until like 9:30+ at night. 😳

Looks like a blast! When you get a chance can you post your itinerary so I can research and plan a trip with my grandkid. Just a simple list of stops. Thanks
I highly recommend the Roadtrippers App. You can do a lot with the free part but to save endless routes etc I think it’s $40/year or something like that. I have used it since we bought the RV and it’s awesome. You can put your reservation #’s, see what’s around you to check out, find RV parks etc.

Our neighbors have horses. We get to enjoy them from the other side of the fence. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. The poop is the easy part. If you get a large enough parcel, you don't even have to pick it up.

Jeff said he would like to have a mule at some point, though. That would mean no more snowbirding, so he's in no hurry.

@RiverDave make sure you guys drive up to the Grand Targhee Resort just outside of town (Driggs). Well worth the drive and in my opinion the views of the Tetons from there are better than in the nat’l park.

We were just up there a few weeks ago…of course when the pass was still closed so had to take the long way around to Jackson.

We stayed at the Moose Creek Ranch just down the road from where you guys are. Small place with only about 10 RV spots but was awesome. More of a family park feel than a parking lot. They have some glamping cabins, horses, lodge etc all there.

… Your now vacation pics and previous vacation pics. Remind me of the summertime vacations with my parents in the 50s in the families 1952 Chevy…. I’m not even sure motorhomes had been invented those days.🤷🏽‍♀️… there were a few cars out with small travel trailers, but that was about it🤷🏽‍♀️

Alright guys checking in at 2:00 am here after a 7:00 am wake up and driving Jackson Hole.. eating and shopping Jackson hole.. then doing the Tetons all day.. great day but we did a 0 on wildlife.. :(.

Just finished loading the scooters, loading the coolers. Inspecting the bikes because kids did it, (which I’m hammered so have to do again in am) flushing the black tanks, putting the bbq away, putting the chairs away, relocating the floaties.. you get the idea.. it’s an hour of non stop stuff lol..

We have a four hour drive tomorrow which is why I broke camp tonight. A lot easier just hooking up and leaving then trying to deal with all this stuff in am. I’m not a morning guy.

Bear in mind.. motorhome is still hooked up to power annd water etc. and we still have to hook up the toad so figure 20-30 minutes on that alone.. better to do everything else tonight.

Leo went from total asshole dog at my house to non barking.. restaurant chilling…. Best dog ever on this trip.

He hates the Moho ac units. Will literally punch you with his nose and point at them..

We can’t leave him alone in the motorhome because he will cause damage.. but this same asshole dog that at home is just a jerk and in the Moho is a real jerk..

Today went to restaurants, jewelry stores, all over the gd place..

Total 180 from home, to the point, like the pic suggests.. no leash on the grass by the motorhome. Doesn’t seem to care about dogs or anything? Crazy. Been out here last couple days like jimmy buffet

Heard about it plenty from my friends.. you gotta realize a decent portion of the legit fast guys have jets..

Jackson Hole Wyoming.. I give it a 3.4 at best

Place is ridiculously over commercialized.. even on a weekday Disneyland feeling.. let me fuck you out of your money in a hurry if possible..

Every restaurant on a ground floor has a one hole toilet for both sexes.. meaning there is a line to take a piss at 11:00 am.

I’ve always been a problem solver by trade so just walk upstairs to the balcony bars and there’s multi holes ready to go.. (pro tip). Any place gives ya shit just say ya want an iced tea to go.

The whole place summed up in two examples.. I got a nice coyote hat I got from ole
AJ.. legit fur.. I priced it once it’s like 400 bucks.

I saw a fur hat in this town.. bigger head kinda looked like a husky? (I’m sure they r passing off as wolf). Like 2k..

I walk out of the store and I shit you not.. see a guy full cowboy gear looks the part head to… crocs?? Wtf?

first time I’ve ever even heard of that..

Walk fifty feet see a sign “it’s a great day to bring your dog to the knife store”.

Weirdly I got a dog so we enter.. see this pretty cool butcher block deal.. check out the rest of the store.. salt shaker 75.00.. whoa.. check out some other shit it all has a comma.

That first item I saw… I thought was kinda cool? 37,000.00. Even drinkin the zeroes are correct.

The shops are swinging for the fences.. and judging by the amount of private jets I saw fly into this place they are getting it..

Pro tip #2.. fuck Jackson hole Wyoming.. you can keep your Hollywood / Yellowstone bullshit.
Surrounding towns are MUCH BETTER, and you will get the experience you came for..

Which honestly even then, There’s a lot of Patagonia types and lib looking peeps.. .. but at least it isn’t crowded and we came for mountains, wild and food….not politics and joggers and skinny tired assholes. lol

Jackson was a cute town though.. and I’m sure there’s amazing food, because money always attracts chefs.. this place is faking the funk though.

My .02.. couldn’t run away from it fast enough.

The gondola and ski lifts are fun in the summer.
Corbets Waffles are pretty good at the top, nice view but warm at the bottom, COLD at the top.

I agree about Jackson Hole. We stayed south of there in Alpine. Spent about 4 hours in Jackson hole and left. White water rafting down the snake river was a lot of fun. This was back in 2017, so I am sure it haas gotten worse.

Yep. Whitefish has gone the way of Jackson, sadly. At one time it was my dream to move there. No more. I'll keep my sleepy little lake town on the rez. The richies can have Whitefish. It ain't my scene. Nice to visit, not to live.

Tetons were beautiful! We went at the wrong time so we literally donuted in wildlife.. ya need to go at sunrise or sunset.. don’t go middle of the day. Sunset happens at like 9:30 at night fyi during the summer!

Even with no wildlife wait till you see the pics.. absolutely life changing experiences.

That first snake river stop.. never seen a leach in my life, until now.. It was huge as well like 2 inches.. we didn’t go in the water for obvious reasons. (Pic where Stacy and I are standing right behind that was the leach)

Dave, you just described every ski resort town in the United States.

I don't feel like Mammoth is like that at all. And I just spent a few days there, and have gone every year for decades.

Big Bear and Writewood? Definitely not.

The vibe is totally different. 😎

Jackson Hole,,, 🤣

Friend of mine is a raft guide on the Colorado River and often works as a bartender in Jackson during the off season. The reason being is the tip money. He's said the place would be epic after the apocalypse and the people are gone, but no way he could handle a summer there. Winters are bad enough,,

Look at home prices there. The service staff and work force cannot afford to live there and most stay in Idaho and commute.

Elk wildlife reserve in the first group of photos. . We saw them but they were way far away unfortunately..

You can see the Tetons in the background of the last couple photos. :)

Interesting tidbit the Tetons were named after French explorers discovered them. Tetons translated is “Tits”. The three tits.

There’s a church in the park that was renamed because they didn’t want it to be called the tit church.. lol

This “just ahead” app tells you everything and where to go and all the history etc..

Signal hill was absolutely breath taking..

Some person of importance went missing around this area so when they went looking for them they figured they’d light a fire at the top of this hill to let everyone know they found him. Hence signal hill.

View attachment 1400445 View attachment 1400446 Several big lakes in the park! Some decent boating here it looks like!

There was boats on the water.. not sure of the regulations

RD
The regulations aren’t bad. I think you just need a park pass. My family lives up there and I would go to the lakes in the summer with their neighbors in a chaparral. We would ski, tube, wakeboard, just like any lake we frequent here. Once I was skiing and we drove past a brown bear swimming across one of the arms of the lake. Scared the shit of of me (don’t fall don’t fall). They were all pointing at it in the boat I thought it was a log or something until I cut over towards it.

Couple of pics of the Rv park we stayed at.. this place was FIRST CLASS!! It’s in Victor about 25 minutes away from the park. If you plan on staying for multiple days stay here.

Heated pool, first class camp sites.. bathrooms are as nice as most houses..

Free smores for kids at 7:00.. activities.. amazeballs.

We spent a lot of time in the park and Stacy and were tired when we got back so we didn’t really get to use all the amenities.

Grant Tetons resort is what it was called in Victor.

Why didn’t you spend a night in @TBI ’s front yard on the way from Utah to Wyoming? Possible highlight of the trip.

The girls went into the grocery store to buy some stuff for tonight. I’m out here with the motorhome and walked over to the coffee shop. All these chicks are driving legit Ranch trucks and they’re all hot. 👀🤪🤪. I think Daniel should come up here when he’s like 17 or 18 and ruin this place.

This is the nicest truck that’s come through with the last three had rusted through fenders and were epic. lol

We camped and boated at Jackson Lake 9-10 years ago. Beautiful lake nestled against the Tetons. Very cold, but we still wakeboarded. We also saw a bear swimming in the middle of the lake miles from either shore. Called Rangers about it and they said it’s fairly common.

The Tetons are stunning in person. Pictures can’t do them justice. I think they are even more worth the drive than Yellowstone.

Man! You guys are doing it right. Super jelly. I sooooo want to pile the family into an RV and take off for like a month! I've been through all these areas mulitple times as a kid with my dad but I want to drag the family out and do it again. Expose them to some Americana

Questions - 1) did you pre book your RV resort stays? Or you just rolling the dice and pulling into places?
2) How are the crowds and traffic? Busy everywhere or you getting out solo in some parts?

Thanks again for posting this stuff you guys. So cool.

2) How are the crowds and traffic? Busy everywhere or you getting out solo in some parts?

Thanks again for posting this stuff you guys. So cool.
When we did Yellowstone & Tetons, we pre-booked everything. Stops plus park RV spots.
Did not drive more then 450 miles a day and would leave early each day, so we made it to the next camp by 2pm and have the afternoon.

Also if you plan to use rest stops for overnight rests in route same schedule. 2 PM to get a spot. By 3 usually taken.
Wife used to push me to do 700 to 800 miles in a day but that's way too much.

Of all our travel adventures, our laps around the USA tops them all. An amazing country, nothing else like it in the world.
