Any updates? We wanna see this thing on the water:D

Lookin good Ryan!! Glad to see you back online every once n awhile too!

RD

Boat will be ready for summer. I've got less than 3 weeks left at the academy and it's right back to work on the boat.

I can't believ how great the boat looks inside, the interior looks perfect as well. Did the black seats hold up as good as they look in the pictures? This will be one cool survivor and there aren't many people who will have a boat this old all orioginal.

Yep, the seats are in great condition. Ready to burn my ass. :D

Everything is pretty much in place ready to be glassed in. Like the old ones, the wood will be glassed in but this time the tanks will be bolted so they won't be so permanent. I've decided to have a professional handle the fiber glassing so I don't ruin it. They're also going to pretty up the floor blemishes under where the old tanks sat. Should be installed next week. :thumbsup

Here's a couple photos. Please excuse the dust and messy floors.;)

Ryan, in looking at the photo's of the bulkheads and the gas tanks.. I think you might want to have a little more gap between the bulkhead and the hull, for when you glass them in. If they touch, or are too close you will stress crack the outside of the boat in those areas.

Thanks Robyn, yeah that was me. The Coyote is at the D'Cucci's getting the tanks glassed in. I can't wait to see it on the river too.;)

I talked to Joey and his old man about that and they are taking care of it. There's gonna be at least 1/4 inch cut down to leave space to avoid stress cracks. :thumbsup;)

Not sure yet. I'll be out May 9-16 for sure. We'll see how fast I can get this boat back together and running. Getting started on the motor this weekend after the Coe show Saturday night. :D:thumbsup

When my neighbor first told me he was ordering a new Rayson, he said he was going to build a mountain motor, about 800 inches and 1800 hp. I see what the story is tomorrow.

I tried to wake your sorry ass up this morning while I was there, I even tried setting off your alarm on the truck. :D

I was in the shower. I think you have to break the window and open the door from the inside to get the alarm to work. Just ring the doorbell.;)

Thanks to the Harpers, the boat is looking better than ever right now. Steve, Marty, Marty Jr, and I stripped it down to a bare hull and started cleaning her up. We wet sanded the boat, sanded out the imperfections in the floors, polished, waxed.

All of the aluminum and stainless steel are almost all polished up. The motor will be finished next Sunday. We're almost ready to reassemble!:D

I was just going to tell you to post up some more pics ;)

How much work is involved in color sanding/buffing the gel? Im considering sticking with the gel on my 10' and just buffing it out instead of redoing it.

You should! It's work but it's worth it! Plus, it's just a 10'er...not a 24+...

We sanded my floors first with 400, then 600, then 800, then wet sanded em with 1,000 then 1,200, then 1,500. Then buffed and waxed. They look so tits right now! The gel was so dirty and grimy before and after wet sanding the boat looks new! I amazed at how the whole thing has cleaned up. I really never thought it would look like this.

Here she is up on blocks...

Had dinner with Marty and Debbi tonight and ended up in the garage and there she was, can't wait to see her in the water.

Wiley Coyote needs hand controls. lol

Steering is all hooked up. Next is plumbing and electrical. Picking up the transom pillow blocks and plate bosses from the chrome shop next week.

I can't wait to ski behind my boat too. ;):thumbsup

I agree with Racey, are there at least some flappers in the exhaust?

And, you might think about turnin' the air cleaner toward the stern...........once you plow thru a rollbar wake and take some water over the nose, I'd hate to see that fresh motor ingest some H2O!

Really, really really nicely done Ryan!

My favorite thing about my boat is that it was lettered by Rassie Harper. Rassie is a retired Gardena fireman and close personal friend of the Schiada family. He lettered the very first Schiada boat "T-Bone" and designed the original Schiada logo for Leonard. Over the years, he lettered most every race boat Leonard made and hundreds of other well known boats. He's a true living legend and just about the nicest man you could ever meet. He's got more stories, wisdom and style than anyone I've ever met and I'm honored that he dusted off his 40 year old brushes and brought the Coyote back to life.

The boat turned out as good as did only because of the knowledge and kindness of Rassie, Marty, Steve and the entire Harper family. I owe it all to them.

Did you go thru the gearbox and if so what kind of gearing was in there?Just wondering if that might give you a clue as to what kind of numbers it might run when it gets dialed in.Just remember to take it easy till you get a feel for it.I know your probably gonna crack your face from smiling the first time out!

I've got 9% gears right now. This winter I'm putting in a split case with 12's most likely. I'll be feeling her out for sure...
