Just found this thread, read the whole thing.
This kind of stuff, boat or hot rod, gives me goose bumps.
Congrats to Ryan for saving this priceless piece, and kudos to all involved.
It is looking like we may finally make it down to the river this fall, this is the kind of stuff that will make the 600 mile drive down there worth it.

Thanks Marko!

I've got 9% gears right now. This winter I'm putting in a split case with 12's most likely. I'll be feeling her out for sure...

You are kidding right?
:thumbsdownI thought this was a keep an original piece of history together for the ages boat. I know a split case is a far better setup, but you just cant do it. It's like putting a 502 in an original Camaro (except you cant't go back once you've drilled the holes) Steve and Marty are right if they suggested it's better, Just remember what that boat is and was when you started.

BTW I cannot wait to see it. I'll be in Parker for 10 days from Aug. 23rd to Sept. 1st

Leave that old V-Drive in the boat and if it breaks then figure out how to fix it. My Dad told me many times as I was growing up "IF it Ain't broke, don't fix it" some good advice in this case (haha case I didn't even mean the pun and had to laugh when I read back over it)

I love the work you have done to this boat.

Thanks Mike! I'll be out the week before you. And again sometime in mid Sept and Oct.

The Casale toploader is a 1962 parallel drive, I'm just thinking about the u joints. Finding RH gears for it is next to impossible, and Casale wants a fortune to make some. I believe the 12 degree split case was available in 68, and the 10 degree came around 72 or so.

I'm leaving it as is for now and we'll see how it goes. After all, it ran for 20 years set up like this.;)

Wow Ryan, just found this thread. I can't believe all that you have done to it! From the pictures, it looks like a bran new boat. Its 11:00 pm right now and I feel like polishing up my boat after looking at all those pics. Too Cool! I hope to see you in Parker come October.

Ryan, a lot of us (lurkers included) are kinda sitting on the edge of our seat to find out if you took it to the river, and how the maiden voyage went etc..

Please let us know.

Great job Ryan! I am sure it must of been such a rush to take her down the river the first time. I Think the smile tells it all. I can't wait to see it in person some day. Oh...I see you tachometer works about as good as ours. Nice to see someone is in the same boat as me! Excuse the pun.

Thanks guys! The boat ran great. A few minor bugs, nothing major. The boat handles the rough and turns better than I imagined it would. Had a fun all week! :D:D:thumbsup:thumbsup
