Over the weekend I wired the trailer, Installed the lights and went through the wheel bearings.

On the boat I had to use the router to recess my rudder stuffing box. Tonight I will drill the bolt holes and taper the bottom bolts. Tomorrow sea going epoxy comes in. I really am stumped until I get the rudder from J.J.

One the rudder comes in, everything else will get moving.

The steering pulleys have once again been a pain in my ass. I needed to have the assembly be as close to the transom as possible. The rudder shaft is a bit short so the tension pulley is just about slammed on the floor on the outside stringer.

Last night I worked on a bracket for one of the pulleys that I had to junk. I am trying to design a better idea.

I made the rudder support bracket and mounted the bearing. I cant install the rudder stuffing box until I route the bottom for the blast plate. I cant route the bottom for the blast plate until I get the strut installed.

I drilled some holes in the rudder support bracket for looks. I did not get a shot of it. When I get the pulleys on, I will post some updated pics of the bracket

I see you got the rudder, did you get the strut also?

I got the rudder from Bill Dunsmore from Nevada.

I talked to JJ last week. He said the strut and turn fin will be shipped to me this week :thumbsup

Steering is done! Strut should hopefully be in tomorrow just in time for this weekend!!!

I still need to trim the brackets to make it look good, but for the mechanical aspect of it is complete :champagne:

That is as close as I could get the steering without hitting the transom. I gotta say, I got pretty fuckin lucky with how everything came together. Though I did have to make the tension bracket 3 times before I got it right

I will install a piece of L-Metal on each side.It will almost give the bar a floating appearance. You will only see 2 bolt holes on each end of the cross support

I cant epoxy the rudder stuffing box in until I router the bottom for a blast plate. Once the rudder stuffing box is in for good, I will be able to drill and mount the supports

It looks like your rudder quadrant is turned around facing the transom. Maybe that's why it seemed like you were cuttin' it close? Not sure if that makes sense, I just don't recall seeing a quadrant set up facing that direction. I'm not sure if it matters...

Does not matter which way the quadrant faces. Just have to make sure the cables are on the right pulley so when you turn to the right, the boat moves to the right instead of the left ;)

The port side pulley that has the cable doing 180* is about 1/4" off the transom and keeps the cable 1/4" from hitting the quadrant. Almost to close for comfort, but fits just right :party2:

Well a week ago, I drilled the whole for my drop through strut. I took a laser and eyeballed it down the keel. Drilled two pilot holes on each end of the location of the strut. Then bored those holes out to 1/2". Once I had two holes established, I marked off the area I needed routered. Anyways, I just routered that her real slow and kept my eye on the marks. I used a file at the end to really fit the strut. Summa bitch is tighter than my first girlfriend.

lotttta work man u gonna have it on the water b4 summers overrr

Yup, I have a batch of steering parts ready to be polished and anodized.

I just need to get the strut clamp made. Once that is done, I can get the v-drive, trans, and motor mounts mocked up.

I can plumbed and wired in about 3 days.

My goal is June. But she sure as shit is a ton of work

Looking forward to seeing it floating all done up:thumbsup:thumbsup.

Thanks bud:thumbsup I love rigging boats. Even though at times I am ready to get the skill saw out and chop them up...:p

I miss the blue flat, but there will be many more to come.

I have been switching off between the schiada and the crackerbox. I need to get the cracker done in time for out race next month. :party2:

Well my outdrive loving friend,,,,

Start by sliding the drop through strut through the bottom of the boat.

Insert the slotted end of the clam shell over the top of the strut plate.

There are holes that will be drilled through the side of the strut to secure it in the clam shell.

If you looks at the top view of the clam shell, you can see there are 5 holes on each side.

Once everything is lined up, I will drill through the bottom of the boat and through bolt it in.

I will also add a brace running from each stringer to the clam shell for durability.

Most people use a 2 piece clam shell to hold the strut in. We went with a 1 piece :party2:

I just got ass raped with no lube.

Pretty much, I could not find a matching sea strainer to the one I previously had. So i just ordered 2 brand new Teague Strainers. I gotta admit though, their customer service kicks ass and I know I will be more than happy with their product. :thumbsup

I have a bunch of parts getting anodized as we speak. I could not wait any longer

I will be routing and installing the blast plate this weekend. Once I get the blast plate on, I am going to install my rudder stuffing box and cavitation plates.

After the schiada regatta, I realized my boat is taking way to fucking long. I am about to kick some ass and get this mofo done!:smackbum::fingers::party2::party:

Did you get anything done this weekend?

Routing the bottom of the boat to accept the blast plate is my least enjoyable task so far.

We ended up getting the crackerbox back together and running on Saturday. Yesterday I came in after mothers day lunch and routed the bottom for the blast plate. There are a few spots on the keel that I need to hit with my disk sander. Hows was CFW?

Weather sucked most of yesterday but is supposed to be great the rest of the week. Nothing worse than looking up at snowing fiberglass dust!
